"...You can't replace our real mom..."

''You aren't our mother, so stop acting like one.'' Conquer told Kiona.
''I raised you since you were weaned.'' Kiona reminded her adopted twins, ''I gave your sister the means to live!''
Conor began to turn and lead the way away from Kiona to find Akota and their little sister Circe. Conor muttered under his breath with a pitiful tone, ''No matter what, you can't replace our real mom...''

So...many...layers...It killed me. The most I've ever used on a render, about 15. It took me roughly 3 (at least) to 5 hours (most) to do this from start to finish.
Characters are mine.
Original artwork and background is Universal's.

Oh thanks, that's actually really helpful! I was hoping I could get some more tips with shading. I used a medium blue-grey for the shadows and a pale yellow for the highlights. I was trying to make the shading fit the background's lighting. I had to use 2 different layers for shading, one for high lights and one for low lights, for EACH character .

Welcome to the world of many layers :D XD It really sucks, I know.

And the shading looks great! If I could give any tips, it would be to use contrast to your advantage. If your shading color is blue, use orange for lighting. If your shading color is dark green, use light red for lighting. :D
