Here's the long awaited second part for my latest story, I've meant to finish a lot sooner but I always kept getting sidetracked. Lol. *Please note: It's supposed to be summer here, but alas, I couldn't remove the snow from the background...*
It had been about a month since Kuro returned to the wild, and while Jack of course missed him every day, he completely understood his decision. One beautiful and sunny day, he and his owner headed to Nome, to refill their supplies and groceries, and whilst his master was doing his shopping, he let Jack walk around town freely.
As he was roaming the streets of his birth town, Jack spotted a good friend of his, Kyla, doing what he was used to seeing her doing: flirting with males. Jack chuckled, approached her quietly, and as she bid goodbyes to her suitors, he spoke:
- Back to your old games, are ya, Kyla?
Upon hearing a familiar voice, Kyla raised her brows, her face grew into a big smile and she turned around.
- Jack! Hi! she greeted happily, galloped over to the wolfdog and quickly nuzzled him.
- It's so good to see you!
- You too! So, how are ya? What's new? Jack asked with a smile, his tail wagging slowly from side to side.
- Oh, you know, the same old, boring stuff, Kyla shrugged with a smile, and continued:
- What about you? How's life in the woods?
Jack chuckled.
- Pretty good, actually. Beats living in a town, for sure, he responded with a raised brow.
- Well, to each their own, I guess - I could never imagine living in the middle of nowhere, shrugged Kyla with a smile, both laughed, and then, she went and changed the subject:
- So... how's that wolf friend of yours? Kuro, was it?
Now, Jack's smile faded a bit, and he lowered his head slightly to the side.
- Actually, he... left, about a month ago, he replied, and Kyla raised her brows.
- Left? Left where?
- Back to the wild. I mean, I of course totally get it, he's a wolf, not a pet like me, Jack shrugged, looking down on his paws, his tone clearly changing.
- But, you still miss him, Kyla guessed, and Jack raised his head to face her.
- Well, sure I do, we grew up together, and he's my best friend. But still, I get that he had to follow his natural instincts, he responded with a raised brow, and Kyla nodded slowly.
- You're a good friend, for understanding his needs, and I'm sure he appreciates it, where ever he is, she said with a smile, and now, a smile returned to Jack's face as well.
- Thanks, Kyla, you always know how to cheer me up, he said, with a tone that made Kyla blush, but thankfully so slightly that Jack didn't notice. Jack was about so say something, when he heard the voice of his owner, raised a brow and glanced over his shoulder, seeing him walk out of a store talking to another man.
- Well, I wish I could stay and chat with you longer, but it seems like my master's almost done with his shopping, and I still want to go see my folks, before we leave, Jack then turned back towards Kyla with a raised brow, and she nodded, trying to hide her disappointment.
- I understand. Well, it was nice to see you, Jack, she then said with a smile.
- You too, and I hope to see you again soon, Jack said with a smile, winking at her, and then he took off. Kyla looked after him, letting out a quiet sigh.
- Yeah... me too, she whispered with a dreamy tone, raised brows, then she also went on her way, with a smile on her face.
