Just realized I haven't done much with the husketeers lately, especially Porthos, so here we have a rather touching scene that I've been meaning to render for a while...
------
Porthos was walking back and forth on the beach, near the ship wreck that his grandfather used to live in. For weeks he had been waiting for news about his brother Athos, who had been missing for weeks. Now, he spotted his parents walking towards him, began to smile, and ran towards them.
- Hey! Did they find Athos yet? They did, didn't they? He's coming home soon, isn't he? the young wolfdog questioned his parents with a smile, his tail wagging, but as soon as he saw Jean-Claude and Saba exchange looks, his tail stopped wagging, it dropped down and his smile faded, as he looked at his parents.
- ...What?
His father took a deep breath, sighed and slowly raised his head to face his son.
- I'm sorry, son, but... the searches have been called off, Jean-Claude explained carefully, his voice clearly trembling, and Porthos raised his brows in shock.
- What... what do you mean, called off?
- Sweetheart... Saba began, with a trembling voice, and Porthos turned to face his mother, who sighed, swallowing her tears.
- I know this is very hard for us, but we just need to accept the fact...
- No! Porthos interrupted, and both his parents raised brows, taking a step back.
- I'm NOT going to accept it, because Athos is not dead! he shouted, with a trembling voice and his eyes were glimmering with tears.
- Porthos... Jean-Claude attempted to approach him with a calm tone, but the young wolf dog just stepped back, shaking his head in disbelief.
- No... Athos is not dead. He just can't be! Porthos shouted, with a shaking voice, and then he ran off.
- Porthos, wait! Saba called, and was about to go after her son, when Jean-Claude put his paw in front of her.
- Let him go, cherie... he just needs some time, Jean-Claude said quietly, looking after his son who disappeared into the distance, and let out a heave sigh...
