Shading in renders is a lot harder than it seems. There's always
tutorials on how to make shading, but never on how to correctly place
your shadows and lights It's just something you gotta practice at
until you get good at it. |

Oh even though the advice is not for me, it helps. Because I always
wanted to do shading in my renders. ^^ |

To me, it looks like you used the Dodge/Burn tool. If so, maybe you
should try some other tactic. If you go to Daesiy on DeviantART, you
might try some tutorials from her. She helped me develop my newest
shading style^^ |

The shading is too dark and blotchy. Also, use a different color other
than black. Dark blue would work well. |

1.) If you did this on photoshop, or any program that has layers, try
downing the opacity of the layer you did shading on. (What I do is I
copy the layer that the chararcter is on, shade the copy layer, then
fade it until it looks more natural.) Otherwise, it looks like you're in the right direction. (The shading is just a bit too dark.) |
