When Balto was getting up from the snow, a hunter, deep down in the parts of the mountains, was looking for a wolf. He awaken from several wolf callings and decided to hunt for wolfs the next day. The White Wolf was the one who was howling the most, and he had herd of a great deal on a white wolf's fur. He had went off to hunt, when he ad seen Balto struggling out of the snow. He grabbed his gun, and shot, Blato was swift and smart, but the 2nd time Balto tried to dodged the bullet, it had hit Balto right in the chest. Balto fighting for survival, gave up from fighting the deep snow and shot. He new that is he just gave up, he would not only be giving up himself, but the children as well. He could not let this happen. Pushing and swiveling around in the snow, he gave a leap from his hind legs, and out he came. Bleeding, he fell to the ground, putting his right paw and whining from all the pain, he said to him self in his head. "I can't do it.... I just can't do it." Out of the snow, he had seen the White Wolf coming, he looked up, sliding is right paw across the snow, and gave a helpless stare at the wolf. With that, the White Wolf looked at Balto, and howled, to show that he was made of a strong, courageous wolf. He could not forget that. Balto still staring at the message, stopped, and put his head aside to the left. Telling the White Wolf that he could not make it with the pain anyways. The White Wolf left, not to far to watch the Balto. Balto knew he could at least TRY to get there, he was thinking how he would go and return to the sled team in time before is heart would give up. He wanted to help Rosie, and the others ASP, but it was to much. Thinking from what the White Wolf had said in the howling message, and what Boris had said to him about being a wolf... he slowly started to get up from is painful, bleeding snow spot, and placed his on the White Wolf's, glancing at the paw print, he gave a determined look, and howled the best his heart could. Balto had thought this was the best howl he yet had ever done, it felt right for him to send a message saying he will NOT give up, he WILL stay on the path that was given to him, and he WILL save the children. The White Wolf appeared once again to chime in and help Balto's message pass along to all wolves. The hunter did not see Balto when he shot him down and had left, but when he heard the sled dogs yelping, he went up to see the racket, and found a man on the sled in need of e mediate help. The hunter rushed up to the man, and brang him back to his tent. Leaving the dogs waiting for Balto to return.
