Valentines Day Contest Banner | Entry | Somes

I hope my banner is interesting enough for you guys haha, I tried to follow the rules of the contest as well as make it as creative as possible and I had a lot of fun doing so. The measurements for the banner are all correct (980x291) aaand I have only used Balto official characters but added Steele and Dixie together which is explained below in one of the paragraphs! (If this isn’t acceptable and the contest creator isn’t happy with this I will be happy to change it.
I thought I would just take the time to explain the concept of my entry instead of submitting it and letting you figure it out yourselves. :P
This image took me a few hours to create all up and I would have to say it turned out nothing like I had hoped for or expected, in fact I would even go as far as saying that I am rather disappointed in it. But- nonetheless I am still happy with the outcome as a whole and if I get the whole image of what I expected out of my mind it isn’t all that bad.
I wanted it to be a love banner of all sorts, in fact I even had Rosie and Jenna on there as well as Muk and Luk and Boris and Balto all hugging but the banner was far too crowded so I had to take them down, since I wanted Steele to be a part of the banner because he is a big part of Balto as a movie this resulted in me having to remove the theme of just love in general rather than romance.
Originally I had a background of trees and a sunset with rose petals falling, once again it was so crowded I getting annoyed so I removed the background and just put a simpler one in this so that the focus isn’t the background but the theme.
As you may have noticed Aleu is standing by herself to the right with a disgusted look on her face, this was my attempt at a humorous factor to my banner. She is looking toward them disgusted at how ‘in love’ they all are, (I know, I know Steele and Dixie aren’t an actual couple but romance isn’t always in the form of an official couple, it could be just casual flirting which is also some of what Valentine’s Day is about.)
I tried to match the ‘Balto Source’ text to match the text in the Character section because I like that text and I just thought it could be something new on the banner for a few days. The blue outlining has obviously been changed to pink and I am pretty sure I don’t need to explain why but in case someone out there doesn’t understand this- pink and frilly stuff are always around on this event!
Then to finish off my loooong explanation about my banner, I have added things like bowties and roses onto the image because they are getting dressed up for Valentine’s Day I assume.
Anyways- I hope you all like my banner, feedback would be appreciated! Sorry for rambling but I just had to explain.

Dragon Tamer -- Thank you for the feedback it was helpful and thank
you for the compliments! I edited what you suggested, it actually
looks so much better. *Is now wondering what I was thinking when I
made it.*  - I think the idea for a fanfic would actually be quite

I think the question marks around Aleu would look better if they were
in a similar style to the text. Other than that, it's probably the
best one I've seen yet. As for the idea of shifting the focus of Valentine's Day from romance to love in general, it's a sentiment I heartily approve. However, I wonder if that purpose would not be served better in a fanfic; perhaps one where someone comes to realize that just because they lack that "special someone" doesn't mean they're truly alone. Just an idea. |
