That's true too. I suppose I'm thinking too much in terms of strict
biology; even with mythical animals I tend to think in terms of what
behaviors and physiology would serve them; for example, if a griffin
had bird legs and lion legs or whatever, would the bird legs be more
practical in front or back. That kind of thing.
I really have to learn to look at these things in a strictly artistic
manner.
cat --> I suppose. I'm just not used to seeing birds positioned like
that; most of the times I've seen them with one wing out and one in,
they were preening.
That's great! Very re-assuring, thanks. Let's see what creature I can
spawn up. :3
I used PSP for a few good years, then GIMP and more recently PS. I
still prefer the old software personally. It's cheaper, more stable
and not some un-godly $1000+
And hehe, I shall show you first!
I love the movie Rio I've been watching it constantly so I think I
will venture over there too. It's good to see a quality film like that
has an active site, I'd love to chat there sometime.
A lot of people have been asking me if they can give it a shot and I
told them go for it! Let your imagination go wild.
The only PS I've used is PS7 (my first) and then I got PS CS2. Never
plan to upgrade.
I can't want to see! I'm sure it'll look awesome!
Rio source is the best place for wing renders if you're having trouble
finding a good screenshot. I love birds myself. RS is actually getting
some of it's old members back and is becoming more active.
Oh tell me about it. CS5 is definitely a hot mess. That's what they
used back when I was at school. You don't need the latest program to
make good work.
Thank you! Can't wait to see your style C:
These wings were from a screenshot. There are a lot of good wing
screenshots (Boris, Raven, Random birds, Stella) but if you're still
having trouble try Rio Source. I used Blu's wings once for a render.
Oh awesome! I don't know why anyone wouldn't like these loveable
guys.
Certainly will be easier then, CS5 is such a hot mess. Literally.
Alright thanks for the tips! I always like giving my images that
rustic and old style feeling, as for linearts they always cause me
problems so I won't be using them!
Also, I might add a bit of pizaz to mine like you've done with yours,
I like your style.
BTW, did you add the wings or were they already from a screenshot you
picked?
I say go for it! They're a unique twist and definitely add spice to
BS.
Who knows? And I use PS CS2 myself so you'll be able to make images
like these no problem. The trick is to save the image as a JPEG. That
will give the overall image a 'low quality screenshot' effect. Also
don't use black lineart. I use a lineart that is slightly darker than
the base color.
Since it's a render you'd don't necessarily have to render 100% over
the screenshot. I always twist it up a bit or fix areas where the
animators didn't do to well with the anatomy.
Oh, good idea haha. I love these little critters personally, I might
just make one of my own!
She'd be a beautiful pet too, just hopefully not the biting kind =P
Though oh wow that's it? Seems simple enough, once I figure out why
CS2 won't install on Win 7 I'm gonna make my own creative mash-up. Do
you use PS? Or something else?
Ah, that might be the hard part for me though with enough looking I'm
sure I could find a good screenshot set.
I might give it a try sooner or later. A lot of people have been
coming up with their own original ideas so I don't want to take them
all Lol.
She would be an amazing pet. I'd fly her to work or something! It took
me about 30-45 minutes. Not long at all. I'm slow at linearting so I'm
sure others could probably do it faster than me.
The trick is finding two poses that interlock with each other. They
must fit perfectly for them to seem like they were meant to be.
She does look pretty stunning doesn't she? Shes like a white chocolate
gryphon of some sort. I wonder if her Raven/Wolverine form would make
a nice gryphon.

We actually still had the old CS4 on our school computers though it lagged really bad, so old is always better.
And thanks! I've got a huge number of techniques, I'm ready to experiment with.
Oh yes, should've been obvious to me
