When Balto found out about Naomi's feelings for him, the wolf-dog told her it would never of happened, that they were meant to be just friends. Naomi, though she had tried to stop her feelings,and failed before, she could now finally move on.

I'm glad that both of them decided to take the high road, and I hope she eventually finds a suitable mate. Being lonely hurts, as I know all too well.
