The brown lead dog was feeling very good right now. He and his team had somehow kicked Chase's seemingly unbeatable team in the dust. He'd heard rumors of Chase's temper-mentality on races, often throwing the ones he didn't want to do.
''Hey, nice job losing us at that ridge there!'' A sarcastic voice sounded near the lead dog's ear. He caught the glimpse of a flash of gold, and dark nearly black fur met his eye. Bewildered, the lead dog met the eye of Chase, who was staring directly at him. A smug smirk was etched onto the dog's face.
''How did you.... How did you get up here so quickly? I haven't seen or heard your team for ages, this doesn't even make sense!'' The brown lead dog sputtered. The husky next to him let out a laugh and sped up.
''It's a race, don't things like this happen pretty regularly?'' Chase snickered, turning to look back. The brown lead dog let out a growl.
''This wasn't supposed to happen,'' He growled levelly.
''Things that aren't supposed to happen in your point of view happen all the time,'' Chase retorted, he had slowed down to match the brown lead dog once more. ''And speaking of time, my kid'd like me to break my leg today, can we finish this up quickly?''
The brown lead dog snarled and cursed under his breath as the unruly black husky lengthened the gap, his faltering laugh guiding the way.
-----------
So here's Chase on a race.
Lovely specimen, isn't he?
And I have no plans for the brown dog - he's just kind of there?
