This was a contest entry that I submitted to the interesting couples contest, it was a winning entry XD YAY!
in it yes th white wolf is female, I know many people think it's male but, it LOOKS female, I saw balto about 2 years before I knew there were sequels and I though the white wolf was female! many other people think it's female to, the only logical thing to think is that it's aniu, but they really gave us no reason to think that cause they gave up on the balto movies, I still think the white wolf was in tended to be aniu.
WHY?.......
* coloration.
* eye color.
* the fact that wouldn't of all wolves balto's mother would want to help him out of the snow and save a little girl??? really... same motive.
* her character design changed yes, but all of the character design changed! none of the wolves look the same!
I still think it's her :) BUT I don't really care, this is just an entry, she said you could chose the white wolf's gender and I did cause I though SteeleXThewhitewolf was a pretty funny couple hu XD
Also please do not take this couple seriously there is enough of the weird couple stuff on here as it is! for the time being I have rights to the couple idea, if you want to use it just ask.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS OFFENSIVELY! also lets not star anther war over this, I'm just stating my opinion, He could be male, but I used the white wolf as female for this.

Yes, Aniu is the white wolf, she howled with Balto in the first movie.
In the second one Balto talked about his mother being white as snow. |

I believe Aniu and the white wolf are the same. Why? Well why would
they make a white wolf be grave importance in the first AND second
movie? And, like you said, they are the same colors and design. The
only difference is the style but they WERE drawn by different
animators. |
