8 - Having Fun with Jack

Maybe it will be fun, you reason. Following the dog, you see the town your mother warned you about as a pup. She told you that if you ever went near it, humans would hurt or kill you. But for some reason, you feel you can trust Jack, and you let him lead you into town.

People marvel at you, and you grow afraid as they reach out at you. One human touches his hand to your fur and slides it down your body. "They've never seen a pure white dog like you, wolf or not," Jack explains.

The fear vanishes and pride takes its place. You hold your head and tail high, trying to curl your tail like Jack does. You can't, though, because it usually doesn't curl. Oh, well, you think.

Jack starts sprinting, and you mimick him. He leads you to a beach, the crystalline multicolored water lapping the sandy shore. All these colors around you! Never have you seen such a colorful place!

Jack disappears into a hole in a big wooden thing you know is a boat. It must've wrecked, you infer. You follow him into the sheltered part.

"I come here sometimes, to get away from the town." Jack closes his eyes and sighs before reopening them. "It's my place of peace." A mischievious look shadows his eyes. "You ever gone swimming?"

"When crossing the river, yes."

"I mean for FUN, Aniu!" You stare at him blankly. "No? Well, now's the time to try!" Jack leaps down from the boat's deck and leads you to the water.

It's sunset. You should go, but you want to stay with your new friend. What to do?
