Well, you run with your pack to the farthest reaches of your territory. You are safe from the bear, for now. However, you do know that you must fight the bear, and drive him from your territory. But now you must eat, so you send scouts to find some game in this part of your territory. You send them in all directions, you have enough scouts to do this, but you tell them not to scout anywhere near the bear. You are edgy to hunt already; you want the beast out of your territory as fast as possible! The longer you wait to hear from the scouts the longer the bear gets to live it up in your territory! The scouts soon return out of breath from running, and exhausted from hunger. As soon as they catch their breath they tell you that there is a herd of deer by the big stream, to the left. They also tell you there is a herd of caribou by the hills to the south, and that there is a lone moose bull near the caves, to the right. You are thinking of where to go and what to hunt. The deer are too close to the bear for comfort, and since you came from the south, the caribou are past the bear, so that?s out of the question. So the moose would be the only choice, naturally. But, there?s one problem, and that is that moose are tricky to hunt. And by what the scouts told, it?s a bull. Bull moose have huge antlers and a nasty attitude. A bull moose can cause great damage to wolves, but, hey, maybe your cunning will win out. And don?t forget you still have that uninvited guest to deal with, and he?s much worse than a moose. |
