You step confidently through the alleys, careful to head in the right direction. Glazed eyes stare out at you from every corner, and little by little your confidence fades to uneasiness. A mutt suddenly steps out and blocks your path. You gaze up at his empty eyes, and for the first time fear surges through you in waves. “We hate strangers trespassing in our territory,” he snarls, “Especially high-and-mighty rich trash like you.” All the fur prickles on your body as you feel other street dogs closing in. Before you can think of the irony of the situation, they are upon you, slashing and striking and shutting the door on your life in this world. THE END.
