“Stop whining,” you say. Your owner starts walking again, and you follow. You call over your shoulder, “Fine! I’ll help!” “Meet me outside your house tonight with the money!” the dog shouts joyfully. That night, when your owner is asleep (you’re both staying at her cousin’s house), you sneak down the stairs and spy the purse up on the counter. You jump onto a stool and then onto the counter. You tip the purse a little to see in, and you grab the wallet and work the zipper. You finally get it open and see green paper strips. Just like you remembered: the money is in the wallet. You don’t know how much each strip is worth, so you take three, and place everything back where it was. Clutching the money in your mouth, you go outside through the recently-installed doggy door. The dog comes out of nowhere, grabs the cash, and runs away. The next morning, you find your owner slumped in her chair with her wallet in her hands. Saltwater drops drip down her face, and you realize in shock that you must have taken too much!
