Shadow was pinned to ground under the grey she-wolf, struggling to throw her off. The grey wolf was headed right for his neck, when he threw his left back leg into her's. She tumbled on top of him, growling in anger. Shadow jumped to his paws and lock his jaws on her back, pulling her over. Now the rogue wolf is pinned under me, he thought with a snicker.

But something wasn't right. It was her scent. Avoiding her snapping jaws, Shadow tried to get her scent again. Then realizing, he jumped off of her.

The she-wolf stared at Shadow in confusion. He looked at her, saying, "Hello sister." The she-wolf's ragged expression turned to shock. "Shadow...is it you?" She rasped. He nodded, smiling for the first time in days. "Yes, I'm Shadow. A member of the pack you are attacking." He said with amusement in his voice. She howled, making all the remaining wolves stop and look to her. The members of the pack stood confused, still giving hostile glares to the rogues. The she-wolf looked at her tired army, and rasped, "My loners, stop fighting. We will leae this pack alone. Retreat!" She looked at Shadow. "Brother, my name is Stone-tooth. Why are you part of this pack? Come join me and my rogues. Or have you forgotten that our mother and father are loners?
