Shadow woke with a jump in his den. Outside the den, he could see that the the sun hasn't come up yet. It was still dark. "What's wrong Shadow?" Iceberg lifted her head beside him. He answered, "Something doesn't feel right." He got up and went outside. He sniffed the air, and gasped. "Iceberg! Get up! Warn the pack!" Iceberg ran out to him. "For what? What's happening?" Shadow turned to her, "Rogues. They're coming! They're gonna attack us!" And he ran off to wake the others.

In a matter of minutes, a series of wolves burst into the clearing. They ran into dens and vicously attacked wolves of the pack. Iceberg landed on one wolf that was aiming for her. She slashed him across the face, and the rogue wolf yelped. But pounced back. Shadow had his own opponent. He bit the attacker's leg, sending it whimpering. He looked aroung and aw that the clearing was live with fighting wolves. Sun and River fought back to back, warding off two rogues on each side. Soon one of those wolves had River pinned to the ground, and Sun struggling with her own opponenent.

"We are losing, " Shadow whispered to himself as a dark grey she-wolf jumped on him.
