his head on his paws.
"Oh hello Danny. Thought I sniffed you and Chex around here." Danny looked up to see Lou. The wolf dog smiled down at him. "May I sit next to you?" She asked.
"Sure. Just make yourself comfortable." Danny scooted over some so Lou could lay by him. She joined him, laying right next to him.
"Chex getting a checkup?" She asked.
"Yep. Getting all his current shots and every thing. How’s Dr. Jenkins treating you?" Danny asked. Lou once was a stray living in the alley with her sister Rue, Raggs, Banner, and Troy. One night she got in a fight with a husky by the name of Cully. He was cocky, obnoxious, and thought everyone wanted him. If Dr. Jenkins hadn’t come along, Lou would have probably not lasted no longer than three days. Once she was well, the vet decided to keep her as she was a quiet companion. Lou was a sweetheart, no doubt about it.
"He’s been treating me well. I still get confused when he calls me Sadie."
Danny chuckled. "And you’ve been his dog for how many months now?" He raised a brow at her with a smirk. Lou laughed lightly.
"For 5 months now." Lou replied.
Danny smiled. "Thank you again Dr. Jenkins. One day when I called Danny home this dog followed him right in. I was worried at first but this dog’s kept his calm. Haven’t seen or heard a fight between the two." Danny and Lou turned their attention to the owners and Chex coming out of one of the examining rooms. Lou smiled at Chex and Chex gave a slight smile before he walked closer to the two. The two humans watched as Chex joined Lou and Danny, the German Shepherd sat down on the other side of Lou. The vet smirked.
"Sure seems to be friendly. Well not to friendly but at least he hasn’t bitten anyone. I wonder where he came from but he’s in good hands now." Dr. Jenkins spoke before the two talked on about things the canines weren’t really interested in.
Lou stood up and she walked out of the doggy door. Chex and Danny cast glances at each other before she poked her head through. "Are you two coming or what?" The two males stood and followed her out, Chex bringing up the rear. The three stood out on the boardwalk, listening to the bustle of town. "So Chex…" Lou faced him. Chex glanced over at her. "What do you think of Nome so far? Even though you haven’t gotten the full tour."
"Well it’s peaceful. Everyone seems good natured and willing to help out others by what I’ve seen. I’ll found out more tomorrow." Chex answered. Lou smiled.
"That’s Nome for you." Danny added. Lou’s smile widen and Chex chuckled. "That’s what you plan on doing tomorrow?" Danny asked as he sat.
Chex faced him. "Aren’t you giving the tour?" He replied with the question.
"Remember I’m a sled dog. I got work tomorrow."
Chex nodded. "Oh yeah."
Danny looked over at Lou. "Hey Lou why don’t you and your sister take Chex for a walk around town?"
Chex was about to object as he preferred to scout out the town by himself but he knew they would know useful location information. "Okay. Don’t worry Chex it will be fun." Lou spoke. Chex smiled a bit.
"But first he has to get up with me to meet the team. Then you guys can find him and show him around town." Danny said.
"Well sounds like I’ve got a plan for tomorrow then." Chex said. Lou chuckled and Danny smiled.

He was snoozing peacfully, his mind wondering into dream land. "Brother?" Chex looked around. Where was he? He then realized he was back home in Portland. "Brother?" It came again. Chex realized Ruger was standing close by him. She smiled slightly. "Have you been well?" She asked. "Ruger aren't you dead?" She giggled. "I'll take that as a I'm fine." Chex blinked as she smiled. "No seriously aren't you suppose to be dead? Rosco killed you." She sighed. "I know he did Chex. Take care Chex and don't let this take control." The slender shepherd started to walk away as he stood there. "Ruger!" He called. He tried to move but he couldn't it. "Ruger!" He yelled a little more desperate as she grew smaller.
"Up and at them!"
Chex jerked awake. He bolted up and his eyes looked about. "You ok Chex? Looked as if you've seen a ghost." Chex bit his tongue to not snap at Danny. The husky was standing close by him and by the look out of the window, it was still dark.
The German Shepherd groaned as he slipped back to the floor. "Just a dream Danny." Chex was about to drift off to sleep when he felt a sharp pain to his tail. Chex yelped as he bolted up again. "What!" Danny opened his jaws to let Chex's tail slip through.
"Get up officer." Danny joked. "Time for you to meet the team." Oh yeah...Chex forgot he was going to meet Danny's team this morning. Chex stood and stretched. "Ready?" Danny asked. Chex just nodded.
