"Hey you two wait up!" Chex and Danny turned around to see Troy. Danny smiled at his friend who was like a brother to him. The brown husky trotted up to them and walked on Chex’s other side.

"How’s Raggs holding up back there?" Danny dared to ask.

Troy cast him a glance before speaking, "Actually he left before I came looking for you guys. You know how Raggs is still uneasy about trying to talk to Tindra." Danny nodded. The three walked on a little further, Chex with his head high listening to Troy and Danny chat back and forth.

"Look out!" Troy bolted forward. Chex halted and wheeled his front end away to avoid being run into. Danny had backed a few steps to avoid the white dog. "Sorry about that…oh hey Danny!" Danny smiled at her. She knows how to make an entrance. Danny thought.

The white canine stood in front of Danny with a slight smile. She was just a tad bit shorter than he was. She was all white save for a red back line. "Well if it isn’t Scarlet! How have you been doing?" Danny asked her. Her smile widened.

"About to meet some friends on the beach that’s why I almost ran into you guys. You guys okay?" She asked as she looked at the three males around her. "Hey Troy." She spoke to the brown husky, he nodded his head. Her eyes landed on Chex. Her eyes as blue as a clear sky. Chex didn’t smile. In fact, he didn’t know what to do with her. Yes, they were females on the police force back home. But they knew that he was boss and he looked at them as comrades and nothing more.

Danny stepped in. "This is Chex. He’s new in town. Came all the way up from Portland, Oregon." Scarlet looked at Danny then back at Chex. This time Chex bowed his head with a slight smile.

"It’s nice to meet you Miss Scarlet." He spoke as clearly as he could, showing nothing to her in his eyes. She bowed her head a bit.

"Same to you Chex. And please… it’s just Scarlet. I’m not one much for formalities."

"My apologies."

Scarlet smiled a small smile. "Well we shouldn’t hold you up any longer." Troy spoke. Scarlet whipped her head over to face him. "Shouldn’t keep your friends waiting." He explained. She nodded.

"It was good seeing you Danny and Troy. Again, very nice to meet you Chex. Have a good day you three. And try to stay out of trouble." She finished with a smirk.

Danny gave a fake gasp of surprise. "Us?! Trouble? Whatever makes you think that?" Scarlet giggled. Chex’s mouth twitched. "Have a great time too Scarlet." Danny smiled. She nodded before setting off at a brisk trot. Danny and Troy were about to turn around but they realized that Chex wasn’t going with them. In fact, the German Shepherd stayed rooted to the spot watching her as she disappeared. Troy followed his line of gaze, looked back at Chex then back at Scarlet before finally looking at Chex with a smirk. Danny course just stood there wondering what Chex was looking at.

"You like her?" Troy asked still smirking.

Chex didn’t answer then he blinked and turned to face Troy. "Whatever makes you think that?" He asked as he turned to follow after Danny.

"You were watching her leave." Troy answered.

"So were you." He defended himself as he walked between Danny and Troy. Troy was still smirking as Danny chose to ignore the two’s conversation.

Troy’s smirk grew bigger as he suddenly got an idea. "Well what kind of man doesn’t want to take a bite out of her?" Chex screeched to a halt. Troy chuckled.

Chex growled. "What kind of gentleman would do that?" He snapped.

"Not you apparently." Troy replied coolly.

"Yes but you are no gentleman thinking of a lady like that." Chex responded. Troy broke into laughter.

"Oh come on now Chex! Haven’t you ever thought of a girl like that?"

"No." Chex spoke flatly. He was a busy dog, he had no time in looking for that special someone. So he just ignored that matter.

Troy arched an eyebrow. "Not even one?" Danny asked. Course being a guy, Danny thought of girls but he would rather treat them sweetly unlike Troy.

"No." Was the answer again.

Troy screeched to a halt. "Are you gay?!"

Chex growled. "No I’m not." Troy was testing his patience.

Troy smirked. He knew perfectly well that Chex was straight the way he was watching Scarlet but he decided to go the fun route and argue, "You are too."

"Are not." Chex snapped. Danny rolled his eyes. This was going to be a fun trip to Nalli’s. The two bickered back and forth as Danny tried to remain calm even though he was now starting to get tired of the two. He sighed in relief as he spotted Nalli’s home and they were in luck. The captain was resting on the porch. He smiled.

"Hey you two! We’re here."

"You are so gay!"

"Would you shut up you damn fool!" Chex was struggling to keep his emotions from entering his voice. Troy smirked.

"Whatever you saw Captain!"

The three came closer to the home. The canine on the porch rose her head, her teal blue eyes on them like a hawk’s to a mouse. They softened when she recognized two of the three. "Hello gentleman." Her voice one third nice, two thirds icy. She stood and started down the steps toward them. Chex took this time to study her. She may be built like a deer but he had a feeling it would be hard to hold your own in a fight with her. "Who’s the new guy?" She asked as she studied him.

"I’m Chex."

"Nice to meet you Chex. I’m Nalli. I see you are new around here."

"Pleasure to meet you Miss Nalli. Yes, just got here yesterday from Portland."

Nalli chuckled. "You’ve got betters manners than Troy there." Troy gave a huff as she smirked. "You said Portland? Like in Oregon?" Chex nodded. Nalli’s eyes were full of questions but only one came from her mouth. "Why up here?"

Chex lowered his head. "I’m looking for someone who has done me wrong. The reason we came here today Nalli is that I was wondering if you might have an idea of who he is." Trying to stay professional, Nalli was arguing with herself. She knew it was better to stay out of this dog’s mission but she was curious. Who was this dog he was looking for? Why on earth did he think she knew him? Nalli took a deep breath before looking back up at him. She opened her mouth but he spoke first. "I realize you’re wondering if you should help me in my own personal quest for justice. As I was once a police dog like you are now. Many canines outside the force asked me to do a job for them on the side to which I had to wonder should I help them." Chex spoke with his head high.

Nalli looked at him only this time there was respect in her eyes. This was one dog that Nalli knew could not be pushed around. "Did you help them?"

"Yes."

"Chex, tell me your story as I am curious about this mission. It has been rather boring around here with no big case." Nalli smirked at Danny and Troy. "Course there is always Raggs’ gang that makes sure nothing’s too quiet." The two smiled sheepishly as the female Captain and ex-Captain walked up the steps to lay on the porch. Nali turned her head to look back at Chex. "Just because I'm listening does not mean I can help you. I have to stay professional. Do you understand?" Chex nodded knowing that a young Captain such as Nalli would stick with her duty not to run off to hunt down one traitor. Once everyone settled, Chex once again explained his story.

"Not one to let things go easily huh?" Nalli asked.

"He’s not." Chex growled. Nalli sighed as she studied this new information.

"And you’re sure he’s up here?"

"I raced him a couple days ago and Holly saw him and this Malamute just yesterday." Troy spoke up. Nalli just gave a nod of her head to confirm she heard him.

"I haven’t seen him with my own eyes but Chex, I’ll keep my eyes open for him. Though I'm not quite allowed to hunt down this dog until he has committed a crime from around here." Nalli assured him.

Chex nodded. "Thank you Nalli. And that is all I ask of you is to keep alert." As the three stood, Nalli stayed lying down. They walked down the steps before Chex turned around again. "It was a pleasure to meet you Nalli. Thank you again for your assistance." Inside, Chex was slightly angry. How could she just remain cold about this murderer? Then again maybe he was like that, eyes focused on the duty.

Nalli sat up. "Chex…what do you plan on doing with Rosco after you’ve found him?" Though she didn't help him much in her opinion, she was wondering what he was planning.

"Whatever happens." Chex was out for blood but he knew he would become a criminal if he killed Rosco. But Rosco did not deserve a second chance, he deserved natural justice.

Nalli stiffened as her eyes narrowed. "If you kill him, we’re going to have to bring you in."

"I realize that. Good day Nalli." Chex bowed his head in respect and turned away. Nalli thought as she watched the three walk away.

"He knows what he’s doing. He’s got a plan." Nalli spoke to herself. "Still…"

Danny waited out in the lobby of the vet’s office. It was later in the day and Danny’s owner well now also Chex’s owner brought Chex in for a checkup. Danny sighed as he laid his head on his
