Steele's Return

     Chapter 1:The News

A large,shadowy figure emerged from the blinding,white snowstorm,followed close by 5 other suspicious dogs.They looked around and carefully slipped through the thick,cold snow.Blue eyes shown through the storm followed by more yellow,demonic and wild eyes.

A light,thin husky came out of nowhere,bumping into the largest dog.He growled and threw her at a tree with a large impact.She banged into the tree whining and scattered up,blood staining the cold,white snow.She plunged back to the lonely,lighted town of Nome and pushed her way into the boiler room.

The husky fell to the wooden floor and in front of the other dogs of Nome.

"Steele..."She whined.

"What about that bone head?!"One of the chows barked.

"He's...He's back"She stuttered.

Blood spread across the floor as her eyes closed.Chunks of snow and ice stuck to her fur,stained red.Three dogs ran to her aid and helped her to warmth.

      Chapter 2:Pups

Balto jumped off the crashed,wooden boat and onto the snow-covered ground.As he ran towards town,snow shot out from under his pads.

He peered inside a little garage made of complete wood,the door creaking straight open.

"Jenna,"He smiled as he stared down at the red husky.

Jenna smiled and looked up at him from the puffy blanket."balto,"Her voice sounded faint and ill.

The WolfDog frowned at her words."What's wrong?"He asked and padded over to her quickly.

"Just a little tired"She smiled and looked down to the hairless,little pups.

"they're beautiful"The brown WolfDog complemented.

          Chapter 3:Ill

The red,beautiful husky started to keep inside the large house more then usual.She had been looking more pale everyday.

Balto was starting to get worried about her.He usually just took the pups to the beach for the to play around,but soon they needed to get to new homes with more care than Balto and Jenna could offer.

Balto took the pups back to town and to Jenna's Keeper's house.He sat on the porch and waited for Jenna to come out.

Moments later,she did.She had a large box be dragged behind her and balto put 3 pups into it,leaving a red one beside him.

Jenna looked at him."She's amazing"She said softly and more like she was ill.

Balto smiled then frowned again."Jenna,your not acting like yourself."He said,concerned.

      Chapter 4:The Beginning Of The End

Jenna slumped around in her basket all the time.Her keepers started to get worried.They carefully picked her up and carried her to a large,white,window-filled building reading "vet".

She stayed there for days inside a large,comfortable cage.She always looked up to everyone with a suffering look on her face.Nobody would let Balto into the Clinic─ Hero or not.

A gloomy day came upon Nome and Jenna's Keepers walked out of the building,their heads hung low.Balto held the pup by the scruff and flattened his ears,staring up at them.

 Chapter 5:The Only One

Balto layed inside the boat,with only Jenna's bandana and and the pup to comfort him.With Boris flying off he was left all alone.

The pup barked and jumped around in front of the brown WolfDog.

Balto smiled and looked at her."You need a name,don't you?"He smiled.

The pup barked and wagged her fluffy tail.

"How about Katrina?"He asked.

The white-faced pup barked and licked her father with her tiny tongue.

Balto laughed and picked her up,laying her across Jenna's bandana."now sleep"He said,laying his head down beside the pup."We have a big day tomorrow."He smiled and closed his eyes.

Katrina also closed her eyes,falling asleep soon after.

Chapter 6:The Flashbacks

Katrina yawned and jumped onto Balto's head.Her brown eyes focused onto him as she barked."Wake up,Dad!!"She jumped around and pulled at is ear.

balto got up and carefully slid her off."I'm up"He smiled and looked at her.

She barked and her tongue lolled out,making her look truly canine.Her red fur blew around with the wind as she stared up at her father.

Balto stared back and thought about Jenna."Jenna.."He smiled and thought about her.Flashbacks filtered in and he shook his head loose of the subject."Let's go to town,shall we?" He asked Katrina.

The pup barked and ran over to the board leading down to the ground.Balto followed and they continued towards the town.They soon arrived and Balto pushed the boiler room door open.Katrina followed,trotting happily behind.They crawled under the floors and Balto led to the broken glass.Luckily,the light was still on overhead.He swished the glass around and showed Katrina the beautiful lights that had brought Jenna and himself close together.

 Chapter 7:The Truth

Balto grabbed Katrina and headed to town again.He was going to meet up with Kodi and hear the latest news.Katrina yawned and looked at her father,smiling.He headed towards the town,soon spotting Kodi in the boiler room.The door was wide open an Kodi stared down at a slow-breathing body in sorrow.It was a light-colored female husky with pain-filled blue eyes.

Balto rushed up with Katrina in his mouth,putting her down at the sight of blood and water mixed into a puddle around the husky.

"She'd been attacked.."Kodi informed to Balto.

"By what?"Balto asked,still wide-eyed from shock.He turned his head to Kodi and awaited an answer.

"By-"Kodi was cut off short.

"By Steele,"The female whined quickly.

Balto shot his head back to her as she weakly got up.Her neck was drenched in both dry and wet blood,matching along with her legs.She sat down and stared at Balto.

"But Steele-"Balto barked.

"He's back,"The female argued back.

"But-"Balto stammered.

The female ignored him and layed back in front of the fire,trying to warm up.Kodi grabbed Katrina's scruff and took her outside,Balto following.

"So this is Katrina?"Kodi asked his father.

"Yes..And you've heard about your mother,am I right?"Balto asked.

"Yes..I have.."Kodi answered,uncertain to talk about her.His gut argued and he felt forced to talk."Katrina looks just like her"He blurted out.

"Yes.."Balto said,his mood not recognizable
