Balto looked into Jenna's gentle almond eyes. She looked in his passionate hazel eyes. She leaned forward and nuzzled him. When her act of love had ceased, they stared at eachother and smiled. For a moment everything had disappeared, there was the two of them watching eachother in true and pure love. Then the crowds roar of aplause broke everything off, but new feelings arose within Balto. The most powerful of those was what it finaly felt like to be accepted.
Balto opened his eyes. He had actually thought that he had been back, experiencing that most wonderful night. but it had all been a dream. As balto stretched and yawned, he was glad he could relive that night every now and then away from reality. But someties he wished he could go back in time to that amazing night and relive it in reality. But if he did, he would have to relive all of the hardest moments in his life.
Balto's ears perked up at the sound of a high (but not too high) pitched bark. He smiled. Jenna. He walked to the railing of his boat and smiled even more at the sight of his flawless beauty.
Her coat was silky, and a softening red that blended well with the cramy milk-like colour of hers which was secondary. As time had gone by her fur's tone had changed. But to Balto, she was, and always would be, the most beauitful Siberian husky in the world over.
He ran down to her, his tiredness had abruptly stopped and he was now full of energy like after you would drink a Red bull. But as he neared her, his brow furrowed.
Jenna looked like the life had been sucked right out of her, it looked as if she had dropped an inch, which was extremely unnecessary in her case. She was in excellent shape. Why hadn't he noticed this before? Was he so inlove with Jenna that he hadn't noticed how muh weight she had been losing?
"Jenna. What's wrong?" he asked worried. Jenna knew what he was reffering to. She avoided his eyes.
"Well, since the mills have closed down Rosy's parents have been low on money so food is... scarce."
Balto's eyes got slightly bigger.
"Why aren't they getting a new job?" he asked, that would be the logical thing to do if you have lost your job.
Jenna sighed. "They've been trying, but it's not working out well." she paused "They've talked about cutting back on a few things," she paused again "things like me."
Balto almost gasped. "What? Why?"
"I suppose I'm worth quite a bit of money." Balto had been so caught up in the idea of Jenna not living with Rosy that he didn't realized how hungry Jenna should be.
"Jen." he said softly, tears slid down her cheeks, she pressed her head into his chest as the tears came faster.
"They'll probaly change their minds." he couldn't think of what else he could say that would comfort her.
"I don't know." she sniffled "They didn't think of selling me until a friend of theirs from Fairbanks called. They talked, and well..." Jenna trailed off, but Balto's hearing had stopped as soon ashe had said 'Fairbanks'.
That was very far away, Balto would probaly never see her again, unless he desiced to go there with her, well, not with her techniclay, but in a sense. His thoughts were interupted by more thoughts. Could he just leave Boris, Muk, Luk, Kodi, and all the other who were imensly close to him, to be with the only one who was closest to him. It wasn't fair to the others if he followed Jenna, but was it fair to Jenna if he stayed with the others.
All of his thoughts ended as he heard Jenna' stomach growled. He looke at her, regret shown on her face.
"Come on. Eat." he motioned for her to follow him to his food, so she could eat. Gain back the wight she desperatly needed.
As soon as the food came into view, Jenna dove toward it. She ate away hungrily, clearing the bowl. She layed down with a sigh of relief. Balto lay by her side, wrapping his tail around her hips. She closed her eyes, ready to sleep, despite the fact that it was daytime.
"Jenna." he whispered to her.

Jenna lay in her bed, watching, hungry and weary, as Rosy's father converse with Steele's owner. She was barely listeing to them, only picking up a few words.
"Lend some money--"
"Possibly. But how--"
"--pay you back--"
"Interesting, but--"
"What if we--"
"--mean Jenna?"
"--with Steele."
"What are you--?"
"--pure bred--"
"Split it?"
"Sixty forty sinse--"
"--puppies--"
"What do you--"
--yes. It's a deal."
Jenna lifted her head. She hadn't heard the even half of the conversation, but she had picked up enough of it to understand what they were talking about.
They wanted her to have puppies with Steele, and sell them. Being the same breed, their puppies would bring in good money. Plus, Steele, was a champion sled dog, many people would love to turn his puppies into working dogs as himself. They would split it sixty-forty since Rosy's family would need to borrow the money to make it through Jenna's pregancy period, since they were broke.
Jenna stood and ran through the dog door unnotice.. Lack of food wasn't stopped her from running through town and to Balto's at her fasted pace. When she arrived she took axhausted, deep breaths. Balto looked at her, he had been lying onthe beach, relaxing.
"What's going on?" he asked, walking over to her in concern. She spen the next minute regaining her breath and what little energy of hers that remained.
Jenna explained the the situation to him. Balto was bewildered as to what the situation inquired.
"They honestly think youwould have puppies with Steele?" What's going on in their heads?" balto asked, normaly he respected humans ideas and ways despite how ridiculous they were.
"Balto, they're not like us. To humans, if a dog has puppies with another dog, it's nothing. Those two dogs have no feeling towards eachother. But they're wrong. Humans don't realize that dogs are more like them than they could have ever thought."
Balto nodded. It made a lot of sense to him. humans did believe dogs were just animals, that they didn't have feelings, voices, or loves. Those wer just a few of the things. There were plenty more for Balto to list.
"Maybe they'll get the point when you don't have pups with him." Balto smiled. Jenna didn't.
Balto's expression changed, he was now appaled.
"Jenna?!"
She remained quiet.
"Jenna!" he exclaimed. Tears slid down her face.
"Jenna." he whispered.
"Balto, they need the money!"
Balto stepped back. "It's STEELE!" he exclaimed, what was she thinking?
"Rosy has been eating barely anything to keep her going these past weeks! They're going to lose their house if they don't get enough money to pay bills and everything else! I'm doing it for them! I have to."
Balto glared at her.
"Balto," she choked "there'll be no feelings, no nothing. This is just for the family!"
Balto turned away from her and started walking away. Although he hadn't said anything Jenna's heart had been cut open and bleeding inside of her.
"Balto." She whispered, tears soaking into her fur.
***
Jenna looked at Steele with a strong glare. His expression was soft, she hadn't seen him look at her like that since they were pups.
"This means nothing." she said. He raised an eyebrow.
"Are you sure?" he said in a slick tone.
"Steele." she said a little softer. He growled slightly and nodded. He made his way behind her, she exhaled slowly.
Balto. Forgive me.
Balto turned away as soon as they got into position, he felt like vomiting. He could recall when they had done the same thing. He started walking through town, his entire body felt sour. He knew Jenna wouldn't love Steele after this, and he understood why she was doing it. But he still couldn't believe how fast she made the decision. He wondered if she would make her decision that fast if this wasn't for the family.
He didn't know. But he did know that for the next months of Jenna's pregnancy he would be there for her. But when people bought those husky pups he didn't know if he would feel any emotion at all, he would have to wait and see.

Jenna lay on her side as eight beautiful puppies suckled from her. Her thoughts wandered back in time, what it had been like having Steele's body hugging her to him. How shocked and releived she had been when Balto had apoligized and promised to be ther for her, no matter what. How she had felt having those puppies push their way out of her. She recalled the thoughts running through her mind when she saw Steele's puppies that should have been Balto's.
Balto smiled and licked her cheek, she flashed him a smile that soon faded. She closed her eyes as he presed his face to hers. But she had left the moment, she had gone back to when Steele had seen his sons and daughters for the first time.
Steele looked at them all, shock overwhelming his entire being. He had thought that if he had saw them hate would race through him, but instead it was love. He had looked from them to Jenna as every childhood moment they had shared flooded back to him.
The same thing was happening to Jenna, but she, was smiling. The room was filling up with love she was directing towads her puppies, and Steele. She knew this would only be a feeling towards him for that moment. But when it raced through her, she enjoyed it.
Jenna sighed lovingly. Balto opened his eyes, his gaze was soft. But Balto didn't know that she was sighing lovingly for her puppies, for Balto... and for Steele...
