"Leslie!" Torn called. A red and tan dog walked up to him. She had tan legs, muzzle, most of her tail, and spots above her eyes. Everywhere else she was red, with red square-like patches on her back. "What?" She asked. He voice was light and frail. Her brown eyes gleamed from her dark fur. "So, how's Rosie?" Torn asked. "Well Mom says that she's doing a bit better." Leslie sighed. Rosie had abit of a cold. It wasn't as bad as they made it out to be, but sence thier father had just saved Nome from a terrible deasie (They wern't born then but they heard stories) they worrid with her.
"Yeah...Dad says mom was just overreacticing." Torn said. "So, have you seen Dakota latley?" She asked. Torn froze and blushed. "You know?!?! Who told you?!?!" Torn wisperd, but had a yelling tone. "Oh no! What happend to him?!?" Leslie jumped. " Him?... Oh as in our brother Dakota, THAT Dakota...No..." Torn said. Leslie wanted to roll her eyes, but she couldn't because...if Torn said somthing to her, she'd never forgive herself. "I have to go." He said. He turned and started walking. Leslie Went home.
As Torn was walking, he heard his name being called. Dakota? He thought mabey his brother, but looking up, his least favorite husky. Luke. "Hey Torn! I heared somthing about Marcie!" he said. Skidding to a stop, he faced Torn. "Well, rumor had it that, Marice's owner's are thinking of Moving away! Yup, to the place they vacationed at." Luke said. "Hmp....Is that a good thing, or bad?" Torn asked. "Well..." Luke started. He sat down. Torn rolled his eyes. Great....some long boreing story....He mocked.
"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeell, They're realy not sure if their moving or not, but I guess I'd be good for Jewel, You, and I." Luke said. "Oh, and including herself, because she needs to mabey stop chasing on you...but that's like saying because you like Dakota, you shouldn't live her. No offence, but....uh....Oh you get it right?" Luke smiled. "Uh...yeah....and you dare tell Dakota, I'll rip your throught out!" Torn growled. Luke lowered his head and tail. "Sorry! I won't tell!" He said. And sprtinted away,
Torn followed Luke. At no fast pace, taking it easy. Just to make sure he wasn't going to Dakota. But he went to his sledteam. "Guess the rat was telling the truth." Torn growled. He went off to find Dakota. He saw her running somewhere. He ran To catch up with her. "Dakota! Dakota! He barked. She barley looked back. A small tear lingered in her eye. Her mouth moved, but he couldn't hear what she said. She slipped, and landed on the ground. "Dakota! What's wrong?!" Torn Said. She got back up and started running. "It's Marcie-Hurry!" She said between pants and wimpers.
"Marice?" Torn siad. He followed Dakota into the bolier room. Marcie was in the middle of a big crowd. Dakota sprang to her. She had cuts, blood, and ruffled fur. "Oh God Marcie! What happened!?!?!" She cried. She was rapped in a blanket. " Those stray dogs, they attacked me! Marcie cried. All the dogs in the boilerroom felt bad for her, even if they hated her guts.
A large dog spoke up. "Somthing MUST be done about these creatures!" He growled. A young Black and white female spoke up. "It's Probably best to just watch and wait! Attacking could end up in disastar." She said. Her mate spoke too. "Yes, But somthing must be done!" He said. Torn kept quiet, he didn't want any attintion turned on him. "Look, it's not helping anybody to just sit her, pity time's over, lets go." The large dog said and left. Little by little the dogs left, all looking at Marice on last time before they went.
"Hey, did you hear about that girl that was attacked by that wildog gang?" Reed said, sitting dog after gulping down a bit of water. "No! What happend?" Yonic asked. Blue gave a look. "Hey, I can't belive you guys! Look, If you were attacked, would you want people talking about it? I'm going to go see Naira." Blue said. He slipped under the hole in the fence. "What happend?" Luke said. He yawned and stepped out of his doghouse. "Well, I think some dog named...Marry..Mini....somthing was attacked by a wild dog pack...gang.."Reed said. "M-Marice?" Luke stumbled. "Oh yeah! That had to be it! Why?" Reed asked. But Luke had allready slipped through the fence, and headed off in the dark.
He started running to Marcie's house. He hadn't ever gone there alone, only with Dakota. But he knew where it was. But before he could get up the stairs to the door, he heard somthing. He looked around. He went in between two small houses, but when he turned to leave, a few dogs started walking by. He ducked behind a trashcan. There were about fourteen...fifteen dogs there. "Hehehe....Hey, that attack...That was pretty good." One said. "Okay, you earned it, your in the gang." He said to a smaller one. A few Laughted and smiled at a smaller dog in the gang. "Allright." and "Good job, kid." They said to him. "Now listen, I've had my eye on one for quiet awhile...Pretty dog...better looking then that tan and white one, She;s out target now...hey...Mabey a kidnap..this fancy dog outta get somthing good for a return..." The leader said.
The group moved out. They couldn't possibly be talking about Dakota, could they? Luke thought. He stepped out into the road to follow them, but they were nowhere in sight. He sniffed around. The snow haddn't melted to much yet, only alittle as spring got closer. Luke tracked them to the best of his ability. But it was hard. Some dogs split up. But he knew he was after the leader and the group with him, he was going to lead the attack.
Suddenly he heard a shrill cry. He had been tracking them BACKWARDS! He turned around, nearly slipping, and dashed up the road. He pushed himself faster then in any of the sled dog races he had ever been in. He knew if he didin't speed up, Dakota could be killed. Seeing the dogs behind the house, many wern't there, only a few. It was dark, and he could barley make out each firgure of a dog.
He was Pushed against the wall, beside Dakota. It was odd, she seemed taller, and her fur more fluffed out. But he knew that her owner liked to brush out her fur before going to bed. He lashed out at the dogs, as many as she could. "There's no use! We'll have to run! Follow me!" Torn said. Dakota followed and he crawled under the fence to his yard. "Hurry!" He said. "I-I can't!" Dakota cried.
"Just, just climb over the fence." He barked. "There coming! " She barked. Luke shook Reed's doghouse. "WAKE UP!" He barked. Reed jumped out. "THE DOG GANG!" He barked. He awoke the other dogs on the team. They started barking. They were to much for the dog gang to handle, and they started gradualy running. Luke was able to help Dakota over the fence. The other dogs on the team came back in the fence. Torn lead Dakota into his dog house. "You stay here, It's to dangerous, I'll take you home tomarrow." Luke said. As he walked out Reed stoped him. "Dude, that's my-" But Torn walked into his doghouse and fell asleep. Reed just circled a spot in the snow and shivvered a bit, but fell asleep.
When Torn woke up, he felt closer to Dakota. He went to wake her up, but when he did, He was shocked. This was NOT Dakota! This dog was red! She woke up. "Thankyou for saving me." She said. She nuzzled him. "My Name's Leslie..." She said. "My name's Luke." He smiled.............
