Chapter one

In the beginning of winter, a new wind has blown for Nome, Alaska, in the year 1919. Somewhere out of the town, there was a wolf clan passing by. An elder wolf with grey and white fur, looked back at his followers. A beautiful white wolfess with yellow eyes walked to her leader, then stood beside him. The wolfess opened her maw and asked “Why have we stopped, Nava?”

Nava is the leader. “Because Aniu, the last remaining grass near the Great Water, told me that we should come to this human clan.” replied Nava. Aniu cocked her head. “But why this certain human clan?” she asked. Nava sighed. “Aniu, time will tell. Besides I never question what Nature tells me.”

Aniu groaned, then sighed. “Sorry Nava, I try not to question everything.” Said Aniu. Nava just shook his head. Aniu frowned, then she walked back to the clan. Nava stopped walking and turned his attention to the clan. “Brothers and Sisters, we must continue this journey.” Said Nava. Some of the wolves murmured in agreement. The clan continued to move forward.

Meanwhile in Nome

In the boiler room, there are a few dogs sleeping peacefully, the fireplace warming their fur and preventing them from being frozen to death. One of the dog’s name is Kaasen. Kaasen is an Alaskan malamute. He opened his eyes, and sniffed the air; a new scent filled the air, but that scent wasn’t new to Kaasen.

“Wolves” he thought, Kaasen began to growl, due to his growling another dog, by the name of Seppala was awoken. “What is it, Kaasen?” She asked. “Wolves have infected our air” was his reply. Seppala sighed. “Why do you hate wolves?” she asked. “Those stupid creatures killed my birth mother!” he said angrily. “The freaks howl at the moon because they think, they are superior then us dogs.” He concluded. Seppala gets on all fours, then walks toward Kaasen, after that she nuzzled him lovingly. “Come back and sleep near me.” she said sleepily.

Kaasen shook his head. “Sorry, but I will not allow these freaks of nature disturb this town.” he said. Kaasen exit’s the boiler room, and leaves Seppala standing there. Seppala whimpers, then she lies down.

Meanwhile outside the boiler room

Kaasen uses his nose to find the wolves, and get rid of them. He carefully looked through the darkness to find the species, he hates most. Noises just ahead got him to stop in his tracks. Kaasen squinted his eyes, and his eyesight adjusted to the darkness. Movement! the scent of wolves grew stronger as Kaasen moved toward the foul smell. “Hey, wolves don’t belong here.” he warned. A voice beside him startled him. “Who are you?” he asked in fear.

“My name is Nava, and Brother, I am the leader of this wolf clan.”

Kaasen scrunched his muzzle up in disgust. “I’m not your brother.” said Kaasen. The sun began to creep over the horizon, and Kaasen realized he was surrounded by a few wolves, if he attacked one wolf, that would mean he commit suicide.

“My clan, including I, mean you no harm.” said Nava. Kaasen cocked his head. “Why are you here then?” Asked the Alaskan malamute. Nava smirked. “Fate has driven us here, also fate has made you come out here, to meet us.” replied Nava. A white wolfess stood beside the elder. “What is your name?” asked Aniu. Kaasen bared his teeth. “Stay out of this!” he barked. Kaasen decided he had enough of this. Kaasen began to bark loudly at the clan.

Aniu backed off, she then realized what he was doing. “We must go Nava, this dog is barking to wake up the human clan.” said Aniu. Before Nava could respond, Kaasen attacked Aniu, she howled in pain as the dog sunk his teeth in her front leg. Nava and the rest of the wolf clan ran off. Kaasen continued the attack. Aniu tried fighting back, but the position she was in, disabled in doing so. The pain was so intense, that Aniu fainted.

Meanwhile a few miles out of the town

Nava looks back, then frowns. “Nava, why did we leave Aniu? Why did we betray her?” asked one wolf. Nava sighed mournfully. “I did not want to leave her, but I dare not to interfere with fate.” he replied. “You knew Aniu would die this very night.” said the wolf. Nava shook his head. “Nay, she will not die, just be badly wounded. Sadly enough, her death will come in a few years.” replied Nava.

the One wolf was shocked by Nava words.the wolf looked at Nava"how could you this isnt fair! he cant leave her alone" The wolf said.

Nave turn to the wolf "Her death is coming soon it better now to leave then in the future young one"  This could be true by the looks of the wolf.

“Kaasen, heel!” yelled a human. Kaasen seceded from Aniu, she was bleeding badly. Two humans investigated the wolf tracks to see if any of them attacked Kaasen, not one attack. They found out Kaasen attacked the wolfess for no reason.

“Bad boy, Kaasen!” yelled the human. The human gently picked up the wolfess, and headed for the clinic.

A few days later.

Aniu is inside the clinic, on a soft bed, her head is resting on a very soft pillow, and a grey blanket is draped over her. Her wounds on her back, and front paws are healing. Aniu opened her eyes slowly, and looked around. Aniu’s ears twitched, she could faintly hear voices outside, something about a sled dog team just arriving from White Mountain. Aniu sighed. All of a sudden the door opened, and a human walked over to Aniu. He softly patted her head.

“Easy girl, a sled dog team from White Mountain, came here to help you.” Said the male human. The human gave Aniu medicine, and somehow she knew it would be safe to swallow. Pretty soon after she took the medicine, the human left. Aniu groaned, then pondered about why Nava, and the rest of the clan left her. Her train of thought was interrupted, as she heard a dog door creak. She got on all fours to see who it was, but no one was insight. Her leg was still in pain.

“Who is there?” Asked Aniu. “Just me, a Siberian husky.” said a masculine voice. Aniu saw a young husky smiling at her.

“Are you going to kill me?” Asked Aniu, she felt kind of stupid asking that. The husky cocked his head, “Why would I kill you, wolves are my favourite animal.” said the husky. Aniu in someway knew he would not harm her, and so she began to trust him.

“Really? Well are the one who came from White Mountain?” she asked. “Yes, and my team also. By the way, my name is Elgyn” said the husky. Aniu smiled. “I am mostly known as the fastest dog in Alaska” said Elgyn. Aniu frowned, she never did like arrogant animals. She scoffs.

Elgyn frowns, “What did I say, if I insulted you, sorry.” he said, worried. Aniu moaned in pain, she began to cry. “I’m sorry Elgyn, I judged you to quickly, and besides life hasn’t been fair to me.” She said, while sobbing. Aniu tried not to cry, but after all she had been through, has taken a toll on her. She felt like a total wimp in front of Elgyn. Elgyn sighed, and placed his two front paws on the side of the bed.

“How could a beautiful wolfess, like you cry?” He said. Elgyn began to lift himself up, on her bed. His muzzle moved toward hers. He licked her cheek slowly, and he mostly did that to wipe the tears away. Aniu blushed, in her entire life, no one has called her beautiful. When Elgyn licked her, she felt very happy, she also loved the feeling of his warm tongue against her cheek.

Elgyn was embarrassed, and he got of her bed. “Sorry lady, I had no right. Said Elgyn. Aniu smiled, then shook her head. “Please Elgyn, I can tell that we are the same age. And please call me Aniu.” The husky smiled. “Lovely name, but my first guess at your name was “Angel” he said. The way the young Siberian husky said it, made Aniu chuckle, and that is the exact reaction he wanted.

Elgyn suddenly looked like he was deep in thought. “Don’t move, I want you to meet some one.” he said. After Elgyn left the clinic, and Aniu sighed deeply. For reasons unknown to her, she hoping that Elgyn wasn’t bringing his mate over, only if he had. A minute later, Elgyn came back with a goose in his muzzle. Aniu laughed softly at the sight. For a second Aniu thought the goose was dead, until it moved.

“You are putting me down now, Mr. golden retriever.” said the goose, because his head was in Elgyn’s maw. Elgyn put the goose on the floor. The goose sighed, while wiping the saliva off his beak. “Aniu meet Boris, Boris meet Aniu.” said Elgyn. Aniu tried her best to ignore the pain in her front legs. “Pleased to meet you Boris.” said Aniu. Aniu noticed that Boris has a Russian accent. “Yes, but I think we should leave you be.” Said Boris.

Boris looked at Elgyn. “Boychick, let’s leave this wonderful lady to rest.” said Boris. Aniu cocked her head. Elgyn frowned. “But.” Elgyn began. Elgyn knew better, so he left.

“Sorry, he is young at heart, but he can be serious sometimes.” Said Boris. The Russian goose left after that. Aniu groaned, she was so bored. A terrible truth just crept in her head. From what she learned, sled dogs only stay in their destination for a few minutes. That meant she would never see Elgyn again. She began to whimper. “I thought we could be friends, he has made my life better, and now he has been taken from me.” she thought to her self.
