currently looking for her personal servant; visibly irked by her servant’s absence. Sean was always sneaking off when he wasn’t around. She tried looking in the servant’s quarters but the young Erika girl said she hadn’t seen him all morning. Jessica groaned, looking left and right for the grey-head. Her violet eyes seemed to brighten as she saw a flash of grey turn the corner down the hall. The princess rushed after him; calling out his name.
“Sean!” Jessica’s call did manage to reach his ears, but the grey-haired servant decided he would pretend he didn’t hear anyone and continued walking.
Her highness caught up to Sean, snagging his arm and pulling backwards with a force Sean wasn’t aware of before. The brown haired princess glared at him, feeling a little disappointed and strangely hurt that he tried to ignore her. It was strange. And she didn’t like it. Therefore decided she would take it out on him.
“You weren’t avoiding me, were you Sean?” Jessica’s lips curved upwards into a cruel smirk as she spoke. Sean bit his bottom lip, nervous at the princess’s look.
“N-no your highness…” She gave him a questionable look.
“Are you positive?”
“Y-yes”
Her violet eyes glared at Sean; she was so hurt and frustrated by this and she barely knew why. Sean was obviously lying to her and doing a horrible job as well. She grabbed Sean by his ear and dragged him along.
“S-Sorry your highness…” He winced, the pressure his master was applying was hurting his arm.
“I told you to call me Jessica, is that so hard to understand?” Jessica quipped, feeling usually irritable today.
“Oh right, sorry your-- I mean Jessica.” He could feel the venom of those words and it bit him like a snake.
While he had been all for running off before, now he was nothing more than a subdued puppy being dragged by the leash by its master. Jessica was usually flirty and rather in a freakily good mood a majority of the time… when she let her anger show Sean found it hard to resist whatever she was demanding. Was it fear… or maybe guilt? No, no, it was definitely fear he was feeling.
Sean would never feel guilt toward that mean little prick. Jessica opened up a door, dragging Sean inside, making the wolf loose his strain of thought. It was a rather large room; with a great big stoned table in the center. The brown color walls were bare except for the little marks on it.
All of the marks looked brilliantly made; each of them revealing a story. There were random bones scattered over the table and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. Even though the room was dirty… Sean could not get over the simple beauty of the room. Such details in the rock… it was beautiful. It almost made him upset to see such a beautiful room be treated so poorly. The upper class had no sense of cleanliness at all.
“I want you to clean this.” Jessica said; a scowl still plastered onto her face. It was apparent she was still displeased with her servant. “There will be a feast held here when the sky hits red, so I need this done by then.” A grin seemed to form on her face as she saw Sean’s contort into a look of panic.
“ What, that’s not enough time to clean this room. This place is a mess!” Sean really wanted to strangle this kid now.
“Well, I was going to tell you about this task about an hour ago but you seemed to have other important business to attend to, am I right.” Jessica clearly glowed with smugness and irritation. Hopefully this would teach him a lesson…
Sean didn’t say anything… it was useless to argue any longer and he was just his wasting time. Jessica, someday queen of the reapers, was an evil jerk… end of sentence. There was not a compassionate bone in his body that would make him be nice to her. So he started cleaning, still panicking that there was a feast in only a little while.
Jessica leaned against the wall, actually impressed with the work Sean was doing. Any other servant wouldn’t do near as good of a job in the short time frame like he was doing right now. Well… maybe she had told a little white lie. There meeting was to be held at night… but if she told him that, he might not be as quick to finish. Plus, it would teach her servant not to run off when she wasn’t around.
Sean began picking up scraps and throwing them away. He started to pick up in speed and started to dust. For some reason, it freaked him out that Jessica was staring at him so intently. Even though Sean didn’t look at her, he could feel her violet eyes bore into the back of his head. Her stare made him want to finish just so he could get out of this room. Fortunately in his case, he was able to finish with only a few minutes to spare. “I’m done…” The breathless wolf sighed… finally able to relax even for a moment.
“Not bad for such a short time limit…” Her royalty decreed, a small smile forming on her lips. “And basically on time… though if anyone had come early they would have been upset that this room wasn’t ready.”
“At least it’s done…” He mumbled, looking at her snobby face. “When is everyone supposed to arrive anyway? I thought it starts pretty soon.”
“Hmm… well, the meeting actually isn’t supposed to be for quite a while.” The princess’s smile grew into a mischievous smirk.
“W-what the…? Why would you do something… you said…?” Sean didn’t exactly know how to respond to this…
“Sean,” Jessica started. “Think of this as your punishment for running off and then lying to me. I try to be as kind as I can but I will not tolerate you running off and ignoring me.” She glared from behind her silky brown bangs at Sean. Hopefully he would get the message she was trying to convey…
“Y-yes your high… I mean Jessica.” He was fumbling with his words… what was happening with his mind. Those perfectly clear violet eyes seemed to glow anger and… almost hypnotizing Sean with fear.
“Very good then!” Jessica chimed, her attitude flipping to the opposite emotion to what it was before. Most said that the princess was bi-polar… and they were probably right. “Now, go give the hallway a good sweeping and then tell the kitchen to start preparing dinner.” The princess smiled almost sickeningly sweetly, walking over to Sean and caressing his cheek very lightly. “Or is that too much for you?”
Sean swallowed a lump of fear in his throat. Screw it, Jessica freaked him out… and he wasn’t sure whether he liked the creepily nice or the angry side of her ether. Both were rather frightening and he always ended up getting touched in a weird way that made him want to jump out his skin. “Yes… I can do that…”
“Good boy” She smirked, but his eyes were brightening. Playing with Sean’s mind was her favorite pastime. “And afterwards you can be off for the day. But don’t go too far; if you do I might have to buy a leash so you don’t run away!” A small tongue rasped, almost in a teasing gesture.
He shivered a little… knowing Jessica; she probably would follow through with that. Deciding that he’d had enough of this, Sean walked off, going to get a broom to start sweeping again.
Jessica smiled as her servant, Sean, left. Slowly but surely she was taming the grey haired rebel. It wasn’t easy, but of course, nothing with Sean ever is… and that is what makes him so fun.
- THE NEXT MORNING -
Being the ever hardworking servant, our heroic young lad was sweeping the outside entrance. The morning wasn’t extremely cold, but it wasn’t exactly a summer’s day. The leaves were slowly changing colors and the wind was crisp. Sean was lucky to have a warm bed in the servant’s quarters, but he was worried about his family. He hasn’t received any messages, yet, which makes him wonder if his family was safe and warm.
Jessica was lounging comfortably in her bed. Her advisor and oldest friend, Jerica, who everyone called Ms. J, was simply just watching the princess get so lazy. It was relaxing for Jessica to rest when Sean was close by. She would never admit this, but she preferred having him close to her. There were so many sketchy strangers that worked in the castle; she worried that they would do something to her servant while she wasn’t around. Jessica was deep in thought; thinking about Sean and yesterday’s meeting when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
“Hey Jess,” Ms. J whispered. “He’s here right now… you have to figure something about the upcoming war with - ” Jessica quickly nodded, getting up to follow Ms. J.
“Sean, go back to the servant’s quarters right now, I have business to take care of.” Jessica walked off, leaving Sean to himself. The grey haired wolf sighed, stretching his stiff arms.
“All this work is tiring…” He yawned, exiting the room. As he reached his destination, he could see a rather conspicuous figure moving about. Sean twitched, was it a ghost? He slowly followed it. This stranger seemed to be unnoticed, even for the fact Sean had never seen him on the premises.
“Excuse me good sir, can you please explain what you are doing?” The surprised intruder made a run for it. Sean, with no hesitancy ran behind it. If this were an assassin then no way would he let them hurt the people in the castle.
In the distance a duo walked through a corridor. “What, its her royal highness and Ms. J!” With full intension Sean knew that this monster was heading for them.
He thought fast, before the wolf could leap and attack his master, Sean bit into the wolf’s hind leg. Yes! He brought him down with full force as the assassin just laid there ordazed. Ms. J screamed, “Help! Guards come quickly!”
Out of his eye two black figures came and threw Sean off the stranger. They arrested the befallen
