"C'mon Dog, we don't got time for no lolly gaging." A large man with a hat said. He was tall, muscular, and had a large coat on. He was Russain, and a dog breeder. Another, man, but smaller, came up to him. "Sir, if that dog is coming on this boat, he needs a cage, not just a leash and collar. "I don't give a care, just get him to Ancorage, Alaska! I'm being payed alot of money for this little mongrel, from an old musher." He said. The man took the brown dog and loaded him onto the boat, and put him a steel bared cage. "You'd better be worth all your causing us!" The man said. He walked out, then walked back in with a bunch of old Geese. They were in a smaller wooden cage, and you could just see about seven or eight of them in there. Once a few more animals were loaded on, the men went on the uper decks of the ship.  As the ship started slowly going, chatter arose from the animals. "Were ya goin'n." and "Where ya from." mostly.

"Hey, Brown boy!" A call came from the geese. The dog turned around. "Me?" He asked. "Ya ya! Do you shee any outhar brown dog in ship?" The Russian accent called. "No...It's just nobody ever talks to me..." The brown dog replied. "Well I talking to you, no?" The goose called. "Yeah...thanks....so whats your name?" The dog asked. "Boris." He replied. "My name's Talako." He smiled. "Talako eh boy?" The goose said. "Yeah...Weird...I know..." He smiled. "No no, I like it, I also like name 'Balto' eh? When I used to live on a farm, they had a reindeer name Balto." The Goose smiled.

"Hm....that's an odd name...." He said. Boris just smiled. "I like it." He smiled.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Suddenly a  rush of cold Blue salty water rushed in the room. "A LEAK! WERE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!" An animal farther down cried. Talako howled deeply. A man came down with a gun, but dropped it at the sight of all the rushing water. He took the axe that was near the door, and started hacking at the cages, to set the animals free. As they jumped out, they ran wildly. "Thisa way Tala!" Boris called from the air.

Talako followed the bird through the door. They rushed to the uper decks. A storm was crashing about, and People were screaming. Suddenly a huge wave crashed agaisnt the boat, and another, as the ship got deeper into the unforgiving water. It was freezing cold, and would be fatal if you were in it to long. Suddenly, one huge wave hit the ship. It was over. The ship started turning sideways, and fell into the icy water.

Talako fought to surface, and once he did, he went back under. The waves caused by the boat knocked him around. Then, his head banged agaist somthing hard in the water, and he was out like a light.

"Vake Up! Vake Up!" A familar voise called. Talako opened his eyes, seeing a long beach. Turning around, the boat. If was washed up, and broken. Nobody was on there. He was alone. But Boris, his new friend was there. "How did you-" Talako started to talk, but the pain in his legs turned up, and he stoped. He let out a long, painful scream like howl, and lied back down. "I followed you, seeing you from the air." Boris said.

"C'mon boyo, get up. We need to get some food." Boris said. "I-ahhh- can't" Talako said. He knew he wasn't in good shape to move. "No! Don't pull that! You've been walking all on this beach before I got here!" He bird scolded. "What are you talking about, I've been knocked out for hours, what are you talking about?" Talako said half growling. "Lookie, Your oaw prints all over tha place!" Boris scolded. Talako managed to get up. "Boris...those aren't my paw prints." Talako said, as he placed his paw beside the much larger paw print.

"Oh dear...I have seen these before but I forget where." Borise said, studing over them. Suddenly a long howl broke the calm, soundless place around them. "Wolves! Boris we have to hide!" Talako Barked. He limbed around the side of the boat. He slowly looked around the side. A large pack of wolves were sniffing the air where they had been. They were all pure white, and quite fluffy and large. Talako could not stop staring at the new creatures.

"Hey, why don't you try howling?" Boris asked. "Are you crazy? They could attack!" Talako growled. Borise pleaded to the brown husky. "No! And that's final." Talako snarled. Boris stomped on his tail. "AAAAAAAWWWWWWWOOOOOOO." He howled. As he turned to Boris, he saw that one of the wolves was already behind them. "Hello, my name is Aniu." She smiled. Talako's scream was muffled by Boris' wing that he slung into his mouth. "Are you part wolf?" She asked. "Where's your pack?" Talako was speechless. He didn't know what a pack was, let alone live in one. "Um...not that I know of..." He said.

Aniu laughted. "Ha ha! You don't know?" She smiled. Talako and Boris quickly looked at eachother, then back at the wolf. "Um...we'd better be on out way..."They said, but turning around, they ran into a larger wolf, whom looked more grey than white. "Aniu...are these...misfits...bothering you?" He said. "No, now leave me alone, Kanosak." Aniu growled. Kanosak was the wolf who was going to become leader, Aniu, was a pup they found abandoned. "That's no way to talk to a furture leader, and I don't fear kicking you out of the pack as soon as I get control." He growled.

"Fine, I WANT to be out!" Aniu snapped. Kanosak lifted his head, and called to the other packmembers to leave. He went along with them. "Aniu, I know I'm not leading yet, but don't bother following us...your out." He laughted. Aniu stared into his light blue eyes, until he left. She stood up." Fine...I'll have my own pack." She mumbled to herself, as if Kanosak were still there.

"Mind if we come with you?" Boris asked. Aniu was surprised. She didn't think she was talking aloud. "Please do, but...If you don't mind...I'd like to stay on this boat." Aniu said. "It's a better den than anything I could make." She assured. Talako nodded. "Sure." He smiled.

-------A Few Mounths Later--------------------------------------

"Momma!" A young brown dog called. He almost jumped off the side of the boat trieng to follow her. Talako caught him. "Balto, you almost fell!" Borise scolded. "But I want to go with Mamma." He groaned. "You know She has to leave before hunting season begins." Talako said. "She'll be back." Talako assured, thought not even he knew that this was the last time he'd see his mate...
