Wild Truth
By Ahura Werewolf
In the night I can hear the call.
The piercing high howl on the wind.
Like shadows they move swiftly through the forest.
Standing below my window.
Eyes gleaming in the pale moonlight.
Waiting for me.
I pull back the shade from the window and look down.
Six pairs of flashing eyes look back.
I open the window and let myself slowly touch the ground.
My body shifts to it’s proper form.
One of fur and not white skin.
Weak human hands and feet.
Turn into strong paws.
My brown eyes change to gold.
My true form.
I bask in the cold of the night then howl that I am ready.
My brothers and sisters howl in agreement.
We set off into the wild.
I have returned home.
