"oh!" Tyler moaned, as walked in the town of nome. It was dark so nobody knew he was in town. All

he could think about was Emerald. She was his childhood friend but now he has fallen love with her.

Tyler was a wolf but abanded by his parents. His fur was gray and white and a little fuzzy.He is a

natural for being funny or mostly silly. The only food he could get in Nome was scraps or steal some

meat, which he rarely did.

But Emerald was a husky. She is smart and a beutiful one at that! Her outer fur was dark green

with smoothe texture but black was her inner fur. She had a white bandanna around her neck given

to her by her owner Maxwell. Maxwell was a retired musher that moved to nome for the peaceful

surroundings.

When they were pups almost everyday they would play together untill dusk. But her sister Ruby

didn't like the fact that Tyler was a wolf so she avoided him all together. Ruby hated it when They

play together.

Ruby was always populer even as pup.She has a tanish fur with a red bow on her tail. Her rudy

eyes can get catch anyone offguard which is how she got her name. Since all the dogs in town

loved her she started to act stuck up.

Tyler walked by Emerald and Ruby's house that is at the end of town. He looked in a window and

saw that Ruby and Emerald was on the rug asleep. Maxwell was on the left in his bed asleep too.

Tyler tapped on the window lightly with his paw so he wouldn't wake the owner. Ruby was the first

to wake up. She looked to the window, scoffs ,and then put her head back down. Then Tyler tapped

again. Emerald woke up and finally looked to window.

Emerald was shocked to see him. She quetly walk though the kitchen to the doggy door. Tyler

caught up with her.

"Tyler what are you doing here at this hour?"She said

"I needed to see you."said Tyler

"Not here!! If Maxwell sees you-" Maxwell comes behind Emerald And sees Tyler.

"WOLF!!!!"exclaimed Maxwell and throws his candle at Tyler.

Tyler took off."oh man!!" He thought" I almost told her How I feel".Oh well. I could tell her iin the

morning"

He ran to the end oftown to a forest. His den was right next to a river. He clasp onto the ground

and closed his eyes.

In the morning Maxwell went to the store to buy a lock for the doggy door. Ruby and Emerald were

unhooked so their owner coud go inside.

While he did the shopping the sisters go to the huge shed in the back of the store were the dogs

stay while the humans go shopping.

Three Huskies were there. Mac a very strong black husky. Jack a brown husky very popular with

the girls. That leads to Casey Jack's twin sister.

When the two sisters walked in, Jack eyes popped out of his head when he saw Emerald. Ruby

Walked in front of Emerald to get Jack's attention.

"HI JACK!" Said Ruby flashing her eyes.

"Oh hi Ruby." said Jack with 'Oh great' look.

"Did you sleep well last night ?" She asked.

" Yes.We all did. Untill your owner woke everybody in town with his screaming!!!! Said Casey.

"It wasn't our fault. It was that stupid wolf friend of my sister!!". Said Ruby

"HE IS NOT STUPID!!!!" exclaimed Emerald

"Come on Emerald why do you hang out with him? "said Mac.

"Yeah he's an outsider! he's a WOLF!" said Jack.

"I don't care Tyler is my friend." said Emerald.

Suddenly Jack sat by Emerald and wrapped his tail around her. He smerked and said "Hey want

to go out sometime ?"

Emerald felt a sick feeling in her belly. Rudy was about to explode with anger. Maxwell came in and

said" Time to go you two."

Emerald went to her owner's side while Ruby slowly follows her. As they went Jack shouts out

"Wait!! You didn't answer my question!! Tyler was watching in the shadows to finish the unfinished

subject last night.

Emerald Turned around smiled and said "No".

As soon as the sun left the sky the town went wild. All the humans went to the town meeting hall to

have a party to celebrate the 25yrs after Balto saved the town.

Even though humans had a party,the dogs of nome had a party of their own. At the abandoned

werehouse the party was endless. Since the dogs planned ahead for this party the supplies were

excellent. The scraps of meat treats with apple juice for everyone with light radio for music.

All the dogs went crazy. Cod, Doc's grandson, ran the whole party for everyone. Jack was furious!

The bone he chewed was about to be in half. Casey was too busy flirting with all the male dogs in

the house.

Tyler was waking in the doorway hoping nobody had seen him. Emerald looked to the door and her

whole body felt lifted. Emerald raced to the door.Tyler raced to her too but went too fast! Tyler

slipped on some apple juice and crash on top of Emerald.

Everybody froze. Emerald's heart was beating fast and she was breathing harder. she thought

"why am I feeling this way? Tyler just a friend to me, right?"

Tyler was blushing. Their noses were touching. He thought " Maybe if I come a little-" He close his

eyes and came closer to Emerald.

Emerald was about to faint. "Oh no.What should I do"? she thought. "Should I-" She thought. She

started to shut her eyes and move closer to him as well.

Jack couldn't take it any more! He stepped between them and said" what are you doing here

WOLF?"

Everyone looked at Tyler. Then He darted out of the door. Emerald said "Tyler wait!!" but Tyler was

gone.

 

Chapter 2

 

A week passed after the party. Tyler never came back to town since that day. Emerald was starting

to worry. Rudy ,on the other hand, was filled with joy after Tyler left.

Maxwell had taken a job to the store next to his so he could get extra cash. Now most of the time

the house was empty so Emerald and Ruby would just stay and sleep or go out to see their friends.

Ruby said to her that she

will feel better with her REAL friends. One day While the two sisters went to see their friends

something caught Emerald's eye. It was Rex ,an friend of Tyler before Rex became a sled dog. He

was a strong husky like Mac but much bigger with brownish gray fur.

Emerald ran to Rex as fast as she could. Ruby just walked to the werehouse were all the dogs

hang out now. Rex was walking toward his team untill he saw Emerald and saw distress in her

eyes. "..Rex.." she said out of air. Rex's ears pointed down. "What's wrong?" Rex said in a concered

voice. "Tyler's gone. I haven't seen him in a week! Do you know were he is?! She said in a scared

frantic voice."No. I' m sorry but I don't know were he is."

Emerald was about to cry. "Where is he? What have I done?"she thought. Her eyes started to get

glossy. "DDon't worry he'll be fine. he is a wolf. its his nature to survive". Rex reassured her. She

smiled but she couldn't help it.

In his den Tyler was depress for his humiliation. "I was soo close to kissing her. Stupid! Stupid!

Stupid!!!"He said with a sigh. "She thinks I'm weird now. I just wanted to show how much I cared

more than a friend. I LOVE her!!

"That is ssoo sweet." said a dark voice outside. Tyler's ears perked up. " Who's there?! A female

dog came out of the trees."Ruby!!" Tyler shouted. She was the last dog he expect or wanted to see.

"What do you want ?" he said angerliy. "I wanted to make sure your visits were gone permanetly."

she said with a smile. "What about Emerald. Is she-""She's already moved on. With Jack."

"WHAT?!!?!!" Tyler screamed. "Yes. They are the cutest couple in Nome."

"You're lying. I know you are!!! She hates Jack she told me!!!!" said Tyler. "Come and see for your

self if you dare."Ruby said with a wicked smile and vanished to the bushes.

The next two weeks Emerald was more worried than ever. Now everytime maxwell leaves the

house, she goes out and looks for Tyler.Ruby couldn't care less for Tyler. All day and night she

looked for him. Sometimes Maxwell had to go looking for her when she took too long searching.

One day while she was searching near the forest , Jack appeared. He walked by her and said, " Hi

Emerald!". "oh hi" she said and continued searching. "I know it was a shocking thing when I asked

you out before so I forgive you for rejecting me." She didn't even look up. "Hey I'm talking to you!!"

He said in a anger tone. She still didn't look up.

"Still looking for that wid animal, huh?"he said "He is NOT an ANIMAL !!!" shouted Emerald. "Why

bother looking for him? he's no good for you or anyone." "Because I lo- she paused "he's my

friend." Jack looked at her and frowned." You love him don't you?!"he shouted. She looked down. "I

guess We're going to have to fix that." " What do you-He went up and kissed her on the lips.

Tyler an as fast as he could towards Nome." It can't be true." "she wouldn't" he thought . He ran to

through bushes to a horrify sight . Emerald kissing JACK. "NO!" he thought. "Its true". Emerald

backed away from Jack when she saw Tyler. " Tyler!!! This isn't what it looks li- but Tyler turned

around and ran.

"Oh no you don't. Not again!" she said And ran after him leaving Jack all alone and rejected again.

Tyler felt anger but mostly betrayed. He was fast but Emerald was right behind him "Tyler stop!!"she

said but he ran faster. She started to go faster but her paw bumped to a rock. she fell and bumped

her head on a tree trunk.

Tyler heard a yelp behind him. "Emerald!" he shouted. Her paw was twisted and blood dripping

from her head. He stopped and ran back to her. "I can't go back to town now". He said whlie he

picked her up and put her on his back. "I'll go in the morning." he said. He went to his den, put

Emerald down and started licking her wounds.
