Balto (The Revelation)

Chapter 10 – The Magnificent Member

The intense was killing Aleu slowly. Now, she faced an unknown and dangerous wolf. Perhaps, she could be killed instantly by doing this. Yet, her curiosity pushed her far than usual. Her eyes still gazed directly at the cold, yet red eyes.

“Why you didn’t attack me?” she asked curiously, “Why you surrendered instead you could escape before?”

The intruder just let his silent be his answer. No matter what he was thinking of planning of, the female alpha couldn’t take this longer. His silent made everything could be possible.

“You have blue eyes…” he finally spook, “Same like him…”

“Blue eyes? Him?” Aleu was confused, “What do you mean? I don’t understand at all…”

“You don’t have to understand…” the black wolf replied, and then lying down again without words flew away.

Seeing there was no point of talking it anymore, Aleu let her sigh out. Now, she had to think what she was going to do with this prisoner. If she let him free, it would be a stupid and dangerous decision. But, if she chose to execute him, it would be harsh and hard for her. According before, she knew it wouldn’t work. He was just too stronger. She must think different. A suited idea for this condition.

“Would you… Would you like…” she started hesitantly, “Would you like to join my pack? I mean…”

Aleu started growing nervous. She never thought she would say it. The black wolf himself remained silent. He made no move or no motion. He looked like he was already slept.

“O… Okay…” Aleu finally said, “If you’re doing nothing, that means fine. You choose to join us.”

By the time she said it, the black wolf’s ears perked up. Aleu noticed it, waiting him to respond. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. The intruder said nothing, continuing what he did before. Aleu couldn’t help with it. She wanted mad, but afraid to do that. She wished everything was done well tomorrow. All she needed to do was sleeping. Hopefully, she didn’t mess up with her decision and action.

“What!?” Raka suddenly spook loudly, “You asked him to join us? Are you crazy, Aleu?”

“Well… He wanted to…” Aleu explained hesitantly, trying to find a way out of conversation.

“I don’t care if he wants to join us!” Raka shouted, “He’s our enemy! Can’t you see it, Aleu? He wanted to kill us! We should get rid of him.”

          “But…” Aleu reasoned herself.

          “That’s enough!” Raka cut off.

It was already morning. It was perfect day, but a quarrel happened at the entrance of their cave. Both of Aleu and Raka argued about the black wolf’s presence in their pack. Raka insisted not to accept him, but Aleu wanted the best for everyone. Since the fighting yesterday, she hated it so much. But, it changed when she met him, knowing only little about his attitude. She thought he wasn’t dangerous at all, yet Raka was difficult to this. The conversation was ended quickly. Then, Aleu’s tears fell down. The beta wolf quickly noticed it.

          “I just…” Aleu cried, “I just don’t want everyone’s hurt. I want everyone’s happy. I don’t want to see you hurt…”

          “Aleu…” Raka noticed sadly.

At this point, the beta’s anger suddenly went off and replaced by the sad feeling. He was really mad before, but seeing his important person cried melted his heart. Knowing he couldn’t blame her more, he then leaned at Aleu.

“I’m sorry, Aleu…” Raka started, “Please, don’t cry again… I know your decision will be good for this pack.”

“Really?” Aleu asked, sweeping her tears.

“Yeah…” Raka smiled, “Who knows? That black wolf could be one of our best hunters. Beside, he has amazing skill…”

“I guess so…” Aleu tried to smile.

“Well, you already asked him…” Raka gazed at her eyes, “Did he accept it? Did he say ‘yes’ ?”

“Umm… Well… Yeah, he said it…” Aleu answered hesitantly, even the answer itself far from the fact.

“Okay then…” Raka sighed, preparing for his dislike thing, “We should go to meet him. We will explain him about how the rules of our pack. I hope he will understand.”

“Yeah, I hope so…” Aleu thought deeply, “Or else… Raka will know I have lied to him.”

Both of them walked toward the captivation place. Once again, Aleu must pass through that dark path. She still remembered clearly how she felt afraid by moving her legs into it. But, she didn’t feel it anymore because Raka with her. She then smiled, chuckling a little.

“What’s the matter?” Raka noticed Aleu’s chuckle.

          “Nothing…” Aleu replied with smile.

Continuing their way, they finally met him, the unknown black wolf. Still guarded by wolves, Raka then gave them a signal to go off from there. When he believed there were only them at there, the beta then just let out his sigh. Ready or not, he must face this thing.

“Aleu told me…” he started seriously, “You wanted to join us. If it’s true, you must learn our rules then.”

The black wolf suddenly stared at Aleu. He gazed her eyes deeply, making her felt guilty. The intense was so much for her. She knew she decided it by herself, not him. Sooner or later, she must tell the truth. She couldn’t hide it forever. Just before she could speak, one of many wolves at there before suddenly broke their conversation.

“Raka! Raka! It’s Baki!” the wolf shouted, “He’s in danger. The caribou is chasing him.”

          “What?!” Raka was shocked.

The beta suddenly rushed away with the wolf. He sped up to save his only little brother. Aleu wanted to join, but stopped as she saw the black wolf only remained silent.

“You must help him too!” she exclaimed.

Unfortunately, the prisoner just lied down. It looked like he was trying to sleep. Watching this unexpected reply, Aleu was so angry. She felt she regretted to have him in the pack.

“You… Fine! If you could just sleep!” she cried out, “I was wrong! I thought you were good, but not. You’re just useless wolf!”

Aleu never thought she would say it. Yesterday, she felt sympathy at him. But today, she regretted everything and without wasting any time, she quickly joined Raka. Only silent be with the black wolf. He then slowly perked up his ears. Even he was lying down, yet his eyes opened. While he was still there, Aleu had already passed the entrance, going outside from the cave. With her speed, she ran to find Raka. When she found him, she couldn’t believe what she was staring at.

Aleu watched a small red wolf chased by a big caribou. That furious beast seemed wanted to revenge. Raka and the others tried to get it away, but their strength were no match for this beast. Biting, scratching, and yelling were totally useless. While they kept it
