A brown shepherd mix wandered the streets of a small town, a smirk on her face.  The mix had soft looking medium brown fur, wearing a thin red collar high up on her neck.  Her right ear flopped over while the other stood erect, both having a darker brown spot on them, the tip of her muzzle and her stomach being a matching shade of brown.  The shepherd mix had sea green eyes that flooded with her many different emotions, but one in particular stood out with the most emphasis.

Her stride showed her slight cockiness and she held her head high with pride.  There almost seemed to be no flaw about her and by the looks of the mix breed, she appeared to be a prime example of a wonderful dog.  Nothing showed her true identity to the world.  Outwardly, she seemed like a normal house dog with a sweet temperament that had a loving family, but that was far from who she really was.  Not a thing about her showed that she was a prize winning fighting dog.

At only a year old, the mix had all ready been fighting for six months of her young life, and all ready she was the best one in the town.  Never had she come close to loosing a match.  Most of the matches she fought in were over in a matter of minutes as it was, the mix not wasting any time showing mercy on the other dog.  All street dogs knew to steer clear of the young dog, knowing very well what would probably happen to them if they did cross her.  Of course, the mix was drug into fighting back accident, but it didn’t change the fact that her name was whispered in fear throughout the streets.  “Velia.”

Velia glanced around, searching out a stray dog that she might be able to fight back, or even someone’s house-pet; it never mattered to her.  As long as she was able to fight, she really did not care who it was with.  Fighting was her way to relieve stress when she was not able to go out and run.  In her eyes, it was the best past time there was.  It gave her a sense of superiority whenever she was able to win in a fight, which was all the time.  After Velia had been taught to fight by her elder, a four year old chocolate Labrador, she was taught that she must try to be the best no matter what, and she was holding up her promise that she would be.

As she walked through the quite town, she could hear the patter of the other dogs retreating from her path, afraid to be caught in one of her surprise fights.  While there were dogs that Velia got along with, they knew not to come up to her unless she gave them permission to.  The last dog that had done that had lost an ear out of it.  There were also a few dogs that had been brave enough to knowingly challenge Velia, but each one had lost.  All though the mix didn’t kill each of them, she had scared them enough for them to never challenge her again.  Or at least, most of them had learned their place.

“Velia,” a low male’s voice growled.  By the sound of his low voice, it was very noticeable how big of a dog he was.

The mix didn’t even need to turn around to know who it was.  “Bruce,” she said, her soft voice completely calm.  The mix turned around, only a hint of annoyance in her sea green eyes.  Facing her was a large Saint Bernard.  He was quite a few inches taller than the young mix and at least two times heavier than she was.  His long fur was ratted and mangy, showing that he was a street dog.  Anger flooded the Saint Bernard’s brown eyes as the mix held his with her sea green ones, her pose still calm and unthreatened.  “You know what happened last time,” she told him, taking a few strides over to the other dog until she was close enough to touch him with her nose.  “I kicked your ass and you drug your whimpering waste back to your mommy.”

Bruce snapped at Velia, the mix swiftly leaping back just out of his reach, a smile plastered on her brown face showing her brilliant white canines.  “If you really want to fight…” she said, a growl in her voice.  “But you know it’s going to be a waste of time.  And this time,” she smiled sweetly, “I'm not going to take it easy on you.”

With a snarl almost too vicious for her body, Velia leapt at the surprised Saint Bernard, catching him off guard.  The large dog grunted as she hit him full in the chest, knocking him clear off his paws onto the ground.  Opening his brown eyes, he saw the mix rushing him once more, her jaws opened and aiming at his neck.  Struggling to stand, he finally regained his balance.  Growling, he faced the mix, holding his head low in an attempt to block her attack.

Laughing quietly to herself, Velia swung around a little to face Bruce’s unprotected sides.  With a vicious snarl, she leapt on his side, digging her sharp canine teeth into him, feeling the pungent taste of his blood seeping into her mouth.  As the male dog spun around in desperation, trying to get the smaller mix off, Velia jumped lightly onto her paws, a devious grin still on her face.  The Saint Bernard could tell that she was planning something and he started to back away slowly. Bruce lowered his once high held tail between his legs and lowered himself to the ground, trying to show submission.

The brown mix took a few steps towards him once more, her eyes shinning now.  She snapped her jaws shut barley missing the larger dog, toying with his mind, trying to make him think she were going to constantly send a barrage of attacks.  Velia calmly walked around him, her stride still completely relaxed while the other dog tensed up more and more with each passing second.  She walked right behind him, lowering her muzzle to his ear.  “Now, don’t you wish you had just gone home little doggie?” she whispered, every last ounce of her once sweet show had disappeared.

Snapping, she grabbed the larger dog’s ear and pulled causing blood to start pouring down the side of the Saint Bernard’s head.  With a loud yelp he jumped to his paws, trying to run from the smaller mix breed who stayed directly behind him, snapping at his back paws.  She knew that if she wanted to, she could take down the bigger dog and end it right there, but she wanted to play with him more.  She wanted Bruce to pay for all of his pervious actions before his life was finally over.

After what seemed like hours of running to the male, but only a few short minutes to the female, they both stopped.  Bruce was panting hard, his tongue hanging from his mouth as he tried to catch his breath.  Velia, however, had no intention to allow him to rest.  Instantly, she charged at him, biting his front paws and chest, drawing blood wherever her teeth sank into, in an attempt to get him to fight back.  Bruce simply stood there, though, taking all of the hits Velia was delivering to him.

She took a step back, a growl growing deep in her throat.  “What?” she laughed.  “Too tired to fight back, are you Bruce?  Or are you just too stupid?”  She walked up to him, forcing the other dog to look her directly in the eyes.  “Or have you finally realized what you’ve done wrong?” she spat at him, grabbing his throat and forcefully throwing him to the ground.

Velia smiled as she saw him laying there, not bothering to move or even look up now.  He held his gaze downward.  The brown mix could tell that Bruce had finally completely given up.  After all that the Saint Bernard had done in his life, all the bad things and the lies, she was finally going to make him pay for them.  The smaller female laughed darkly as she walked over to him, the growl that had been growing finally surfacing.

In one swift motion, she latched herself onto Bruce’s throat, grinding her teeth into him.  She could feel the blood pouring out of the giant wound both into her mouth and onto the ground, which soon became sodden with the Saint Bernard’s crimson blood.  She showed no mercy for the other dog as she pulled on the flesh that had been holding his precious blood inside, ripping it more and more with each second.

After only a few minutes, Velia took a step back, admiring her work.  The Saint Bernard lay dead in a pool of his own blood, the liquid still pouring profusely from his fatal neck wound.  His brown eyes forever starred into nothingness with a look of pure pain and agony etched into them.  Smirking, the brown female mix turned away, bloody paw prints marking her path.  She turned around before the body of her newest victim was out of sight.  “It’s been fun,” Velia said quietly before turning away for the final time.
