Bump...Bump....BUMP! Two dogs lay close beside eachother on a rug. They were on their way to Alaska from Berton, a bluetic hound smiled. Nuzzled close to them were six pups."I can't belive our pups will grow up in such a wonderful place....Nome Alaska."

Eight weeks later....

Dakota stepped out onto a sunny lawn, dazzled with dew and chirping crickets. She watched her siblings roll and bounce in the grass. Her parents watched calmly from behind. She stepped out onto the grass, as it crunch t her foot step. "I love the Summer." She laughted.She ran up to her siblings.

They were all tackling eachother. Dakota joined in on the fun, when a woman grabbed a pup, and craddled it in her arms."So Mrs.Briggs, you'll have that little boy?" said thier owner comming outside. "Yes sir." She said, walking out the door.

"Momma what's goinng on?" Dakota asked Maya, stunned. "Honey, your getting your new homes today." Maya smiled."NO MAMMA! I WANT TO STAY HERE! Dakota cried. "I'm sorry honey, but your owner will be her to pick you up shortly." Maya sighed.

"But Momma...." Dakota cried. "Now Dakota, we told you this would happen one day." Maya said and walked away. Dakota sat alone in the back of the fence, shaking. Suddenly she felt something on her back, she turned around and bit into a stick nearby. Letting go of the stick, it came back and hit her in the face. She yipped and ran until two hands grabbed her. Thankfully it was her parent's owner. But then he handed her to another little girl who held her out. She smilled slightly and hugged her and pulled her closer. Dakota wasn't so afraid anymore. She struggled abit then stopped. She handed the man some money. "My mom said for me to give you this." She smiled. He took the money and lead Dakota home.

She went up to her mom and told her what her names was."Dakota is it? why that's where I lived as a girl, your father finninsh the dog house dear." He mother said. She told her to thank him, then slid a collar around her neck and clipped a leash to it. She lead her around the block and onto a porch. "Amy, I'm here." She said while ringing the doorbell. "Hi Janice, AWWW your new puppy is SOOOO cute!" She smiled." I brought her so she could see Marcie." Janice smiled. "She's in the backyard, so go put your puppy back thier and we'll go to my room." Ammy smiled. the next thing she knew, Dakota was outside.

A tan,white, and brown female dog came up to her. "Hello, who are you?" The dog said in a friendly voise."My- my name is Dakota, who are you?" She asked. "I am Marcie, THE most beautiful dog in nome, I'm surprised you diddn't know that." She said a bit irrataded. "oh, well I was born in Kuntucky, and wasn't aloud out of my new house much, my old owner was fearful I would get stolen." Dakota replied. "well if nobody would steal me, I'm sure nobody would steal you." Marcie scoffed. Dakota didn't like her personality to much."Um...sure but.... don't you think...." Dakota started but Marcie cut her off."That we should be friends? Oh okay sure!" Marcie smiled. Dakot wanted to say no, but Marcie looked at her so sweetly, she couldn't.

"Now lets take a walk." Marcie smiled. Dakota was a little bit reluctant, but went. "This is the boiler room, over there is the beach." Marcie started as she gave a tour of the town to Dakota. "Over there is the butcher's shop, the post office, the doctors, and the Grocery store. And all the way over thier are the woods." AFter she finished showing her the town, she started goinng back home, wheh she saw a familar red and tanish Husky mix cross thier path. "Oh Hello Torn!" Marcie said batting her eyelashes. "..Oh....hey there Marice." Torn said and started to walk away to his brother, when Marcie walked in front of him. "So Torn, how have you been?" She smiled. "Fine." Torn said a bit adjetated. Finding nothing else to say, She dicided to enterduce him to Dakota. "Oh, Torn have you met Dakota?" She asked. "Da-who? No."He replied. "Dakota, she's my new best friend, she's right over there." Marcie said looking at her. "Oh...Hey Dakota....."Torn said Turning around. "So why don't you walk with us, Torn?" Marcie smiled. "Oh, okay sure." Torn smiled. Marcie lead the way as Torn Talked to Dakota. "So, you Marcie's friend?" Torn asked. "I guess. Just met her today actualy." Dakota sighed. "Ohhhhh I see." Torn laughted. "What?" Marcie said turning around. "Oh, we were just talking about what a good friend you were." Torn lied. Marcie held her head high." Well, I guess I am." Marcie barked.

Once they got back to Marcie's house, Janice picked up Dakota and they started to leave. "By Dakota." Torn said and walked off. Marcie twitched. No "Goodbye Marcie?" Marcie thought. "Ugh! Now he likes Dakota instead of me!" Marcie growled to herself."That..that..that...BRAT! UGH!" Marcie sneered. She walked back into her house."She'll pay." She growled.

Dakota Stepped into her house. She noticed a blanket close to the fire place. "Oh yeah, that's where you'll sleep, I'm sleeping upstairs." Janice smiled as she pet the dog on her head. She walked up stairs. Dakota noticed the heart shaped pillow that janice sewed for her, and the pull rope toy thinggy she bought for her. She thought of how much She diddn't want to leave her old home, but know, she hoped she'd never have to leave this one.

Torn, was back at His house, playing with his owner, and Warming up by the fire. His owner fainaly tired of playing went to bed. Torn looked out the living room window, and watched the new blanket of Snow fall. He was thinking about Dakota, when one Thing struck his mind, what if she diddn't like him back?
