sorrow. Lilla was trying to cheer everyone up, but it was no use. Galben was hysterical, saying,"Niebeiski, how could you let that happen again?!" The big blue dog stared at him and shook her head solemnly. "I wasn't me! Well..." It was her fault and she knew it. Galben was afraid that he would be drawn out of the pack by Niebeiski, so he left. He crawled into the burrow which they made bigger so they could fit. She was sitting outside by herself when she said to the stars, "What have I done?"         About a month later, everyone was feeling a bit better, except Niebeiski. She took Zielony's advice and stepped down as leader. Galben was made leader, since he was now the toughest. Every dog left in the pack, including Kedroo, went to Galben for advice. "When should I start hunting, Galben?" asked Kedroo. "Where can I put this fish?" asked Lilla. "What time can I get the water from the river, Galben?" asked Verkko. Galben was overwhelmed with leadership. Every question was spinning around in his head like a bee hive, and he felt like he was sweating blood. His heart pounded faster and faster, leaving behind a sharp breath of air with every beat. A voice in his mind shouted, "You're the leader now, if they get hurt, it's all your fault. BUAHAHAHAHA!" Suddenly, without warning, Galben lept off his rock and headed for the woods. The yellow canine bounded away and screamed, "I CAN'T TAKE THIS!"      With Galben gone, there was no one to lead. Since Niebeiski stepped down, and Galben was gone, and so were Zielony and Krikland, everything was chaos.  Some were leaving the den and finally coming back the next morning. When they were asked where they were, they wouldn't tell them. Kedroo was never around anymore, and Verkko always came back covered in kiss-marks. Lilla was usually home, and Niebeiski became the gaurd of their home. The wasn't much to gaurd, really. One day, when Verkko was sneaking out at night again, Niebeiski followed him to see where he was going. First, he headed for the river for a drink of water. "Nothing suspicious." Niebeiski thought to herself. Since they were alot older now, and were about two years old each, she guessed he was allowed to go wherever he wanted. But when he disappeared behind a tall stump, she moved closer to get a better look. Niebeiski couldn't believe her eyes. There was her brother, straddling himself over a female. He lowered himself towards the female, and that's when Niebeiski turned away. She couldn't see any more of this. She couldn't bear it. When Niebeiski turned to leave, her foot snapped a twig. "Oh no..." She thought. Suddenly, a flash of red was running past her, followed by a smear of gray. When Niebeiski lifted her head, she saw Verkko and his girlfriend standing over her. Verkko walked closer and whispered angrily, "What are you doing here?" Niebeiski said, "I should be asking you the same question! How could you sneak out just to... you know!" Verkko's girlfriend spoke up. "I'm sorry, you must feel awful. By the way, my name is Caroline. I'm sorry, you must be Verkko's mate." Niebeiski and Verkko yelled at the same time, "We're not mates! We're siblings!" Caroline dropped her beautiful head in shame as Niebeiski took Verkko home. Verkko objected immediately to going home. "I'm not leaving Caroline! I love her! Also, she's... well... gonna have puppies soon." Niebeiski just nodded her head and left the two in silence.      There were only Niebeiski and Lilla left the next morning, and Lilla was afraid the rest were kidnapped. The blue dog didn't speak to Lilla for days because of how ashamed she was of herself. Lilla was going to hunt that morning, and Niebeiski went with her. Together, they took down a good-sized stag and a few fish. As they were searching for some other game, Niebeiski smelled a strong, disgusting scent. It seemed to sneak past Lilla, as she didn't notice. Out of nowhere, a gigantic furred beast rained upon them. Lilla caught on quickly. "Help! Niebeiski! BEAR!" The blue dog leaped into the air to save her sister and to help her bring down the monster. Before they knew it, the two were pinned down by a huge set of paws. It was over.      A rainbow of flashes came spiraling to the bear. The aqua flash broke the bear's foot, the yellow flash broke the bear's front legs, the red flash tore the bear's ears apart, and the green and brown flashes were about to fracture the bear's spine when he threw them off and crushed them under his weight. Niebeiski witnessed as her brothers and sisters were eaten, crushed, and beaten to death. After the tragedy, Niebeiski slowly walked over to the fallen dogs and bear. There was no movement. Not even a cough. The bodies were beginning to cover up with snow until a certain brown flash, Kedroo, led the blue, weeping dog off the crime scene. Kedroo, without saying anything, took Niebeiski to her den, and then he said, "It wasn't your fault. It was fate. I'm so sorry, Niebeiski." He sprinted away, leaving her staring after him. Her eyes were filled with tears as she thought to herself, "How could it have unfolded and ended in this?"
