The journey of life and death

Kodi was walking down the street at his hometown Nome.people and dogs where passing him and some of them said hello.He did’nt care for the time.He just wanted to be alone.He saw a female who watched her mate and their daughter playing.He smiled to himself when the little puppy laughed and disappered behind her mother.I wish I hade a little daughter or son to play with,and a mate  who would love me…Kodi thought sadly.He kinda liked Dusty but she was with Dakota,his brother.They where’nt around so much anymore since she quited the job as a maildog.Kodi really missed her.He looked down and started to think with himself when the little pup walked up to him.

-Do you want to play with me?asked the little puppy.kodi smiled.

-No thanks,I need to go to a girl who I like.Kodi said to the little pup and started to go to Dustys home.

-Will you play someother time?a voice asked after him.

-I would love to!Kodi yelled back and started to run.He was going to Dustys house and tell her what he felt.He saw her on the porch and smiled.Dusty sleeped and Kodi yelled her name.

-Dusty!He said as he loosed his balance.He felt down on the slippy snow.Dusty woke up and saw him laying there and started to laugh.Kodis cheeks turned red as he got up on his feet.

-Hello Dusty.She nodded to him and walked towards him and stopped a few decimeters from him.

-Come on,im gonna show you something.He said and started to walk.Dusty walked beside him.It was almost 6 pm so this was the perfect time for the sunset.they walked about 30 minutes and then they where going uphill.

-Where are we going,kodi?asked Dusty and stopped.Kodi turned her face at her and smiled.Dusty raised her eyebrow but continued to walk.

-You know that me and Dakota aren’t mates anymore don’t ya.Asked Dusty.Now Kodi stopped.

-um no I did’nt.Are you still friends?Kodi asked gently.Dusty nodded.

-The best of friends.and I maybe going back to the mailteam.She said proudly.Kodi nuzzled her.

-How good.He said.Then he realised what he done.He blushed and looked down.Dusty blushed to and they started to walk again.No one said anything.When they got up Dusty stopped and gasped.The sky was purple and the sun where red.The often withe snow was turning red.She had never seen anything more beatiful.

-So beatiful…She whispered.
-Not as beatiful as you…Kodi said and smiled.He walked closer to dusty.Their lips got closer and they kissed.Then Dusty nuzzled Kodi.He nuzzled her back.

-Dusty…I love you…Kodi said and smiled.

-I love you too…Kodi…Dusty said.

-I know an cave where we can stay for the night if you want to.Kodi said and looked at Dustys face.

-I would love too.Dusty answered and they walked away from the sunset.

A few weeks later.

-Kodi!you are pulling to hard.Ralph cried.Kodi rolled his eyes.he and Dusty still saw eachother at the weekends and when kodi did’nt work.they loved eachother really much and everybody saw that.Balto was proud of his son,both for the work and for Dusty.He and Dusty was getting good togheter.Kodi was in white mountain and delivered mail.So Dusty walked to Baltos boat to tell him the good news.When he saw her he smiled.

-Hello Dusty.He said and she answered by saying Hi Balto.

-Why are you here,my dear?he asked in a nice tone.

-i wanted to tell you something.Dusty said and Balto jumped down from the boat.

-is it about Dakota again`Balto asked.Dusty was to him the week before and told him that Dakota still liked her.Or she thought so.

-No no.This is something great.im…

-…pregnant.Balto finished for her.he nuzzled her.

-That’s great ,my dear.are you going to tell Kodi or am i?he asked.

-Im gonna tell him when he comes home.Dusty said and started to walk home again after alittle more chat with Balto.Im so proud of Kodi who have this girl.And know he are going to be a father.Balto looked up.Big black clouds where coming fast at his direction.I hope they are coming home fast.He thought.Kodi looked up at the sky for a second and saw what his father saw.They must hurry to get home now.He ran faster and the other barked at him to stop run so fast.

-Look up!it is going to be a snowstorm!and I want to be home with Dusty now.he yelled.Mr. Simpson looked up to and yelled at the dogs.They tried to run faster.Soon the storm was over them.

-Run for your lives!Yelled Kirby.It was only a mile left to Nome.One by one the dogs falled down to never get up again.Now it was only Ralph,Kirby,jack(one dog who was on Dustys place)and Kodi.Hmm,Dusty looked alittle fat when I saw her…but she don’t eat much…Oh No She is PREGNANT!Kodi thought as he smiled.Im going to be a daddy.In Nome a worried Dusty was sitting at the window ,waiting for her love to come home.She looked at her stomach and smiled.

-Don’t worry,daddy are coming home…Then she looked out again.

-…I hope…She finished.Jack falled down and yelled at the other to go without him.Kodi turned around.
-im NOT leaving you here!he screamed.He loosen Jacks “sleadbelt”and took him on his back.

-Keep going!he screamed.Ralph looked back and saw that Mr. simpson was’nt there.

-Kirby!help me out of this!he screamed and when he got free from the slead he ran back and saw Mr.Simpson,lying dead on the ground.He howled a sad song and walked back to the others.

-What happened?asked Kirby.Ralph looked down.

-Mr Simpson is dead…he said quiet.The others did’nt hear but when they looked back,they did’nt saw anyone.Everyone tried to get away from their “sleadbelts”.They sucessed and they started to travel one by one.Kodi where still draging on jack.Im going to die.He thought and fall down in the cold snow.But as the though comeby he saw Dustys face and his unborn pups and got up on his feets again.Im going to fight and we are going to make it!Ralph where about to give up when he screamed to the ohters.

-I can see  LIGHT! He yelled.Kodi smiled a weak smile.they where going to make it…He could’nt feel his paws anymore.He howled to get anyones attention.It did’nt work.No one heared him.Dusty where still looking after him in the window.He heard something ,like a howl…Maybe it was Kodi.

-I hope he comes home…She whispered.Kodi was twenty meters away from the open fields who was leading to Nome.

-Jack…No answer.Kodi looked to see if Jack was alive.He was almost dead.

-Kirby!ralph?He yelled.No answer.He must ge jack inside.Kodi tried to run.He could’nt because Jack was to heavy.He looked back to see that Kirby and Ralph was’nt there.He walked as fast as he could and was 200 feet away from Nome.He started to bark.After maybe 20 seconds he started to see light in the houses.A man walked outside in his bathrobe.

-Whats going on?!he yelled.When he saw the dog with an almost dead dog on his back he ran to Kodi.He looked at jack and took him in his arms and carried him inside.Dusty knewed that sound.It was Kodi.She ran out of the house to meet him.When she saw him she smiled as big as she could.

-Dusty!he yelled.

-Kodi!she yelled back.They got togheter and nuzzled each other.

-Im so happy to see your face again.He saw tears rolling down on Dustys cheeks.

-I thought you would die…She whispered.Kodi smiled at her and licked away her tears.

-Don’t worry im fine…Wait!Kirby and Ralph are still out there!i must save them!He said and started to go back to the woods.

-kodi!Dusty yelled after him.Kodi looked back.

-Take care of yourself…Kodi smiled and ran as fast as he could back over the frozen fields to the wood.Dusty smiled after him.oh no,I did’nt tell him.She looked at the way he hade run.She took a deep breath and started to run after.kodi was very tired after the run to Nome and now he was more tired than ever before.But he would never give up.He looked around trying to find them.

-Ralph!!Kirby!!He yelled as loud as he could.

-Is anybody alive out there!?!he yelled again.No answer.He started to get worry.He walked in to th woods to find them.In Nome balto was very worried about his youngest son.he did’nt know if he could life after someone told him his son was dead.But the hope is’nt dying.He thought as he heard a bark.It was Kodi!When he looked on his left side a white shadow was standing beside him.It took the shape as a wolf he knewed very well.

-Mother?Balto said in a shaky voice.The wolf nodded and then it was’nt a shadow,it was a real wolf.

-Yes my son…it is me.Aniu said to Balto whit a kind voice.Balto got closer and nuzzled his mother.Aniu smiled.

-I don’t have so much time,my son.But im going to protect Kodi for a few minutes more.My powers arent enough for more than that.Then he needs to do everything by himself.And his daughter are going to be like him.Aniu said and kissed his son on his forehead.

-Im always here for you, my son.I always love you…Anius body turned into a shadow and then disapeared.Balto smiled.

-I love you to mother.He whispered after her.A wind blowed past him like an answer.Kodi looked around but did’nt saw anything.Just snow.When he walked he feeled something on his paw.He looked down and saw that it was Kirby.
