When morning came, Balto, Kodi and Jenna were back on the road. Balto still had his disillusioned and sadness look as he drove. They're in Milwaukee, Winconsin. As they drove down a long, barren highway, Kodi couldn’t help but notice that his father hadn’t been the same from last night. Could he have found out about the map? Balto glanced to Kodi, who smiled nervously. Balto turned away to face the road again. After all they had gone through, why would he do something so wrong? He looked up to see an overhead junction sign. The left arrow pointed to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro while the right pointed to Michigan. Balto gazed down to the fold map between him and his son. “Well…” he said feebly, handing the map to Kodi. “You’re the navigator. Just follow the route on the map, boy.”

“Yeah…” Kodi opened the map, and also looked up to see another sign indicating the two routes.

“Here comes the junction,” Balto said quietly, paying close attention to what Kodi was about to do. A fork was coming up ahead fast.

“Uh…” Kodi looked at the map of Milawukee on the map, between what he should do.

“Okay, Kodi, you gotta decide: Left or right?” Balto said, a bit frantic. The fork was getting closer, and he couldn’t stop the car. Kodi couldn’t decide. If he chose Michigan, he’ll lose Dusty. But if he chose the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro, his mother and father will never forgive him. He felt just like that guy who got crushed under that dome that was placed over their city a few months back. And, just like him, if he doesn’t decide now, they’re going to crash into the fork!!

“C’MON, KODI!!”

“Uh…I…!”

“KODI!!”

“…LEFT!!”

Balto jerked the car to the side, scraping its side against the rim of the metal fence of the fork; barely making it. Kodi sighed with relief. Balor’s face had gone from sad to furiously angry. This was it. Kodi had gone to the thug side. “So, Dad…” Kodi coughed uncomfortably. “How about a song?”

Balto was silent.

“A game? A game! Okay! Man or woman?”

Balto grimaced.

“Man? Okay! Um…Steven Speilberg!”

SCREECH!!!

Balto had to pull over at the edge of the freeway.  Balto tried to exit the car, but was pulled back. “Stupid seatbelt,” he muttered angrily, fumbling with his seatbelt. He stomped over to the marsh,  wanting a moment to stew in his anger.

Kodi knew what was going on… His dad figured it out. Kodi looked over to Jenna for some advice. But she only crossed his arms and sighed “I have nothing to put into this, Kodi. You’ve gotta work this out with your dad and yourself.”

Kodi sighed. This was going to hurt…both of them. He stepped out of the car with Jenna, who went to stand next to his mother, and said, “Dad, I’ve got something to say, and…”

Balto turned his back to him.

“Can you listen for a second?” Kodi asked. “I need to say something important!”

“Why bother?!” Balto snapped crossly. “I’m probably too brain-damaged to understand anything, right?!”

“Oh, don’t bring up that wolf business!!” Kodi shouted back, but then shook his head. “You know what? Forget it!” He walked back to the car, kicked the rear right tire in frustration, and leaned against the back. And everything was going so well… “At least things can’t get possibly worse.”

Kodi had a plan. His parents wanted him to go scuba diving with him. Kodi had to get his scuba gear out. "Uhh...Mom, Dad. I gotta get prepared." said Kodi. He took off his clothes and put on his scuba gear. "Kodi?" Balto called. "Almost done!" Kodi said while putting on his scuba gear. Seconds later, Kodi was done then. He walked out in scuba gear. He smiled to Balto and Jenna. Balto and Jenna had an idea! They wanted to go scuba diving! They went to the lake. As they got to the lake, the car parked.  Balto got out of the car. "We're here!" said Balto. Kodi got out of the car. "This is paradise." said Kodi. Jenna got out last. "OK, Kodi. You can just hang out at the lake so don't get into mischief." said Jenna. "We'll be right there as we get our scuba gear on." said Balto. "OK, Mom and dad." said Kodi.

Kodi ran around the shoreline of the lake and howled. Balto and Jenna finally arrived in scuba gear. Kodi glared. "All right, dad."

Actually, Balto nuzzled Kodi. “Well, how did you pick out the lake?” Balto asked. "I picked a lake that it was on the sign that I saw." said Kodi.

"I’ve got something to say to you, Dad…” said Kodi.
"I like...”

“…to go…”

“…on this…”

“…VACATION!!” Kodi shouted cheerfully that it echoed a few miles away.

"Gnarly choice." said Balto. "We'll see you underwater." said Kodi. Balto and Jenna put on their regulators and they rolled over. Kodi tried a new thing to go into the water. He jumped off the edge and did fantasy moves. Then he dived into the lake. He also did fantasy moves underwater, too. "Now look were you got us, Kodi." said Jenna. “Oh, like you can talk!!” Kodi laughed. “Don’t even think about breaking the fourth wall right now!!” Jenna laughed. “Well, you guys are so sly and cunning." said Kodi. “Give me an apology." said Balto. "I'm sorry I ended up in the principal's office, Dad." said Kodi. “That was the case." said Balto. "Dad, I shown everyone my own music video, but I tripped over, I went through the screen and everyone saw me. I tried to give my rival's attention, but it was too late. I got caught." said Kodi. "Come here." said Balto. He hugged his son, Kodi. "You'll always be so sly and cunning." said Jenna. She kissed Kodi. "Mom! Stop It! Put back on your regulator on!" said Kodi. "Oops!" said Jenna.  Kodi and his parents continued to scuba dive underwater.
