challenge?" Lynnette growled. "Well, a challenge it is!" Lynnette lunged at Maxwell, sinking her deadly fangs into his neck.

Maxwell yelped and shook Lynnette off easily. He also caught everyone's attention, who gathered around, and began to watch the small battle.

Lynnette growled at Maxwell, and lunged at him again. Maxwell dodged, and grabbed her by the foot, pinning her easily onto her back in the cold white powder. He shook her leg violently, making it bleed.

Lynnette kicked Maxwell in the face, making him loose grip, and sank her teeth into his shoulders.

Maxwell bit Lynnette again, making her cry in pain, but this time she didn't let go. "STOP!" Maxwell quickly let go of Lynnette and looked as the wolf he was hunting with last time, which was Brayden that Lynnette called an old man, walked up to them both.

He glared down at them both. "Lynnette, be nice to Maxwell, alright? I saw your behavior towards him and I'm not liking it one bit."

"But-"

"No buts!"

Lynnette growled with frustration and padded away angrily, with her closest friends following close behind.

Brayden glared after Lynnette. He sighed and looked softly down upon Maxwell. "Are you alright, Max?" he asked softly.

Max blinked with surprise. Brayden had never been this kind of him before. He just nodded slowly.

Brayden just nodded back and walked away.

The crowd stared after Brayden, a little confused, a little surprised, and then left. Ashlee stayed though.

She ran up to Maxwell. "Are you alright, Max?" she asked, a little.

"I'll be fine," Maxwell smiled softly to her.

Ashlee sighed with relief. She nodded also, and padded away.

Maxwell just kept smiling after Ashlee and Brayden. He was already starting to fit into the pack, but he knew that it wasn't going to stay good forever, and he would still have to more trust. In fact, Maxwell's only been in the pack for only a week, so he'll need another week or two to see if he really was ment for the pack.

"That was very brave of you to stand up to Lynnette this morning, Max."

"Eh, it wasn't a big deal. She was pretty easy to take down. And she hit one of my nerves, and trust me, you don't like me when someone has touched one of my nerves."

Maxwell and Ashlee, Brayden's daughter, were sitting out on a deck in the pack territory, staring out at the lake in front of them. Ashlee looked up at the young, but strong male.

"Weren't you suppose to do your hunting lesson again with my dad this afternoon?"Ashlee asked, blinking a little.

Max's ears pricked. "Darn it, I forgot! Thank's for reminding me, Ashlee!" he yelped, getting up quickly and running off away from the lake and dock, and towards the woods.

"Hey, it's what friends do," Ashlee muttered to herself with a shrug, and walked slowly in the direction Maxwell went.

Maxwell wasn't looking to where he was running, and accidently bumped into smoething big. He looked up and saw Brayden looking down at me, a little annoyed. He smiled and wagged his tail friendly but nervously like.

"Maxwell, didn't I tell this morning that we would try again later at this time?" Brayden asked in a serious tone, raising a brow at the young border collie male.

Maxwell bit his lip. "Well, you didn't tell me what time, but you told me what we were going to do later," he mumbled.

Brayden growled quietly to himself, knowing that Maxwell was right. Brayden hated being wrong though, but he also couldn't think of an excuse to make him smarter than Maxwell. "Well, anyways, let's go," he also mumbled, turning and walking out of the campsite, with Maxwell following.

He led him and himself far away from the pack territory, until they came to an open meadow full of deer and/or elk. They both hid in some bushes together.

"Alright, Maxwell, you got that way, and I'll go the other way. And when you see me flick my tail, that's the sign to pounce in for the kill," Brayden told Maxwell in the best description he could.

Maxwell looked back at Brayden. "Are you sure this is a good idea that only two of us are going to do this?" he asked. "Don't we need more pack members to help?"

"Do you want to complete your hunting test so I don't have to bug you all day?"

Maxwell stared at Brayden with a blank expression.

Brayden stared right back at him. "You know what? Change of plans? We'll just stay here, and do what I do. Undstand?" Brayden growled at Maxwell.

Max just rolled his eyes. "Yeah, sure," he mumbled, and watched every action Brayden did.

Brayden crouched. Maxwell crouched. They waited for a long time. He howled loudly, to scare the deer. The deer began to run away. Brayden ran far ahead of them through the bushes, along with Maxwell. They waited in some other bushes, and waited for the deer to come. Before they could go pass them, both ran out and began to nip at their heels, growling and barking.

They were going for the largest buck. It bucked and kicked it's hooves at them, but they were both too swift for the buck to catch them, either they dodged or jumped aside.

Brayden went on the right side of the buck, getting it's attention, while Maxwell went behind it. Max quickly grabbed the deer's hoof, making it loose balance and fall.

Brayden jumped onto the buck and grabbed it's neck and squeezing it hard, making difficult for he young buck to breath as it's family ran and left him behind. It struggled to get away from Brayden's strong grip. It quickly lost air, and it went limp under Brayden's mighty jaws.

Brayden sighed with relief and let go of the buck's neck. He looked over at Maxwell. "There, you learnt your lesson," said Brayden, softly. "Now help me bring this back to the pack."

Maxwell nodded and grabbed the buck's legs while Brayden carried it by the neck, and they both carried it back to the camp ground.

Once they got there, they laid it in Brayden's den, and Brayden called everyone over for a small meeting.

Once everyone gathered, Brayden began to speak, loud and clear. "See this?" Brayden asked, pointing towards the buck he and Max had killed. Everyone stared, ears pricked. "This was the largest buck we had killed in five years, it's much more bigger than all the others we caught all the time, and you know who killed it?" Everyone looked at each then just shrugged and murmured a little.

Brayden sighed. "It was Maxwell, or Max, and he killed this all by himself." Everyone turned their attention on Max, who looked a little nervous, and then looked at Brayden, who had a thinking expression. "Hm. A dog. Killing a buck larger than a wolf can kill. That seems pretty brave. And that teaches not to mess with him either, or he'll rip your throat out." Brayden stared hard as everyone shivered a little.

Brayden sighed again and spoke softer. "All I'm saying, is that you shouldn't be picking on Max all because of his breed. He's been making the pack stronger everyday by himself, and we should be thankful for that." Brayden looked at all of the wolves reactions, which was just silence and a expressionless stares.

"Alright, everyone. You can eat now." Brayden got up and began to leave. All the wolves greedily and quickly ran over to the large buck, and started to 'wolf' down their food hungrily.

Maxwell watched for a couple of seconds, not too hungry, until he heard his tummy growl. Maxwell groaned embarrassly when everyone looked up at him. He sighed when everyone ignored him again, and went back to eating.

Maxwell really wanted to eat, but he was frightened that wolves would try to bully him and steal his food. He laid down with his head on his paws, and he heaved a sad sigh.

Max's ears pricked when he saw Ashlee lookde up at him from the Highledge in the cave, and flicked her tail, which ment she was calling him over to join, and she would promise that she wouldn't let anyone bug you.

Maxwell smiled softly, wagging his tail slowly, and he jumped off of the Highledge and joined her. "Thanks, Ashlee," Maxwell smiled, nuzzling her in a friendly way. "Your a good friend."

Ashlee shrugged. "No problemo, it's what friends do for one another," Ashlee laughed softly.

Maxwell smiled. Good o' Ashlee, Maxwell thought. Always there
for her friends with everything.
Maxwell sighed, and started to eat with her. He was really starting to get the hang of pack life now.

"Hey, Maxwell! Maxwell! Get up, lazy head, we need to go now!"

Max groaned, and opened his eyes, looking up to a gray male wolf. Max yawned rudely in his face, but didn't apologize. "What is it now, Dewayne?" Max asked lazily, going to fall back asleep if it wasn't that important. Max had a long night last night. It was full moon, and him and all the rest of the pack had to keep howling at the moon at 3:00 a.m, which was why he still wanted to sleep.

"Brayden is making a hunting party to go get some caribou. He announced that you were going to be in it," Dewayne replied, looking a little irritated by Maxwell's laziness.

Maxwell's ears pricked, and he wagged his tail, smiling brightly. He jumped up to his feet quickly with excitement. "Well, what are we waiting for, Dewayne! Let's get hunting!" Maxwell rushed out of the den, leaving Dewayne behind. He was really happy about being in the hunting party, because it was his first time being in the hunting party group, and hunting was his favorite hobby. Then he could show the pack that they could trust him too, and he really was a wolf inside!

Max ran out to a group of wolves, that were waiting for him and Dewayne. They both ran over to meet the group, and then they both began to leave their camp.

Max made it to a field, or meadow, full of bushes surrounding it, and
