Wolf's Rain Two: Part 10
Goodbye Blue Skies, Goodbye Blue
The pack trekked onward, even after Blue lost all six puppies. When they were born, each were ill and didn't even last two hours. The pack could only grieve for a short time, and were forced to keep going. It was getting closer, the world was going to end really soon, and they needed to hurry.
Blue nearly stayed behind with the graves of the pups, but Hige convinced her to come at last. Kiba never said a word anymore, and was keeping his eyes open and guarded Cheza every step of the way. So far, no sign of Darcia. But it didn't mean he was going to leave them alone this time.
When massive iced, snowed over cliffs came into view, Toboe's eyes widened. Kiba, Tsume, Hige and Blue didn't look suprised however. Sighing, Kiba headed forward while explaining to Toboe what happened after he died. The wolves were starting to calm down, so far none of them, except the pups, had died.
That was a good sign, but still the wolves from the first journey were keeping a good eye on Toboe, as if they expected Darcia to jump out with a gun at any minute.
They began to climb up the slippery cliffs. Blue was still weak, and the whole pack had to help her. A few wolves up front, then a few wolves in the back so if Blue needed help getting up, or being caught if she fell, she'd be covered.
Just as they began to climb over the edge, Toboe looked up and noticed that the moon had slowly turned to a dark red, and he hadn't noticed until now. Shaking the thought off, the red wolf jumped onto what was nearly the top of the cliffs, but it was a good resting place.
Hige looked over at a few iced over boulders that formed a sort of wall, and his ears pinned back. Kiba explained when Toboe asked that Hige and Blue died exactly over there.
Tsume and Rowan came over last, both trying to help Cheza over the edge. Rowan put her back paw on a small ledge, but it suddenly cracked and she started to slip down the cliff. Digging her claws in the rock quickly, she caught herself and Cheza by the scruff.
Eyes still wide, Tsume sighed and helped them both up. "Be more careful," he muttered before padding off to sit by himself.
Now the wolves couldn't tell if it was day or night at all, the sky was always dark, and only the red moon was visible now. Hige lay down beside Blue once everyone was ready to rest for a while. Blue put her head on her paws and stared straight ahead with dull, sorrow-filled eyes.
Rowan pinned her ears back and sighed at her friend, then sat down beside Tsume, for the first time since they had left the town. Tsume didn't seem to mind, and the two rested next to each other. It was obvious; if the end for any of them was near, true feelings should be shown before it was too late.
Rain shivered against the cold wind. Spring was supposed to be gone now, already, but throughout the whole seasons it had been like winter never ended. Toboe sat up and padded over to sit beside her, so she wouldn't be so cold. "Thanks," She muttered.
With that, the wolves tried to sleep as much as they could without worrying...
They were on the move again just a few hours later, it couldn't have been more than four, but it felt like only a few minutes. Toboe nudged Rain, and she woke up and immediately began to start walking, it was instinct and habit.
Hige had some trouble waking Blue, Rowan had to help before Blue could get up and limp onward. Cheza's pawpads were frozen, and a bit cracked. Kiba had to pick her up by the scruff when she whimpered after walking for a little while, and she was carried the rest of the way up the cliffs.
Reaching the top first, Toboe climbed over and stood up, gazing around. The surface was actually flat, except for one boulder that-
Kiba and the others began to come after him, but when they saw him just staring, Rain went over to his side with a tipped head. "Toboe?"
Tsume was the first to look up and snarl loudly. A massive black wolf with amber and blue eyes standing on a boulder in the middle of the surface, glared down at the wolves and returned the welcome right back at them.
"Darcia!"
Kiba lunged to stand infront of Cheza quickly, hackles risen and fur bristling nonstop. Darcia lunged down and hit the icey surface, watching the group of wolves. "Pitiful. Two pups and an ill female. How weak can you get, Kiba?"
The snarls of the pack grew louder.
Toboe curled his lip, growling lowly, unable to stop himself. An emotion that he had never felt before started to come over him. Revenge. Darcia would pay! And they would find Paradise.
"Bastard!" Hige snarled and stood up straighter, eyes narrowed to slits, his amber eyes blazing with anger. Blue narrowed her eyes as well, but she was too weak for anything else.
Darcia flicked an ear, ignoring Hige's comment, and noted to take him down later. He bared his fangs at Kiba, "Are you willing to fight, or will you make your friends die for you?"
Kiba took a pawstep forward to lunge, but each pack member stopped him by either snarling or jumping in his way. Everyone here would die for their leader in a split second.
While all their attention was focused on the white wolf, Darcia ran towards them at full speed and lunged over the wolves, ramming into Blue, who was too weak to even stand completely on her own. His fangs went straight through her neck, and blood flew into the air. Darcia slammed her down, while Blue's eyes stared straight up at the sky. His fangs were still in her throat, so he ripped them out, making her neck cut half way open.
Blue was dead the second she hit the ground.
