Heri was walking back and forth I her cave waiting for Ushindi, jus then she was knocked onto her back, and she let out a yelp of surprise, “Hehe, hello my love,” Ushindi chuckled, “Heh you scared me,” the both nuzzled each other and then kissed on the lips. CHAPTER 11 HERI’S NEW CUB a month later

                “Heri time to wake up,” a voice said, “What? Who’s there,” “It’s me love, come on you need a drink,” “Ok, I’m getting up, help me up I am getting fat,” “You’re not getting fat you’re just pregnant,” “Heh your never cruel to anyone,” “I know,” Ushindi helped Heri up and walked her to the water hole. As they got there Heri knelt down and lapped up some water then she suddenly felt sick to her stomach, she then ran to a nearby bush and retched, Heri you ok?” “Yeah, just an upset stomach,” “Ok, and just think you’re going to be a mother,” “I know and I’m happy about it,” “You’re going to be a great mother, I know that for a fact, no come on you need to eat I’ll catch you something, ok?” “Alright,” as they walked back Ushindi put Heri into the their cave and was off to look for a meal,” Heri smiled and rested her head on her paws, “Don’t be long, I hate being alone,” “Ok honey I won’t,” and with that Ushindi went out to hunt. He walked for 5 minutes, until he saw an antelope, “Hmm that should be good,” he crouched low to the ground and walked towards it, as he got close enough he lunged at it and tackled it to the ground, he then got the neck and crushed it’s wind pipe, once it was dead he dragged it back to his den where his lover slept. “Heri wake up,” Ushindi nudged her, “Hmm, what?” “I got you something to eat,” “Thanks I’m starved,” Heri got up and walked to the carcass of the antelope and ate, she finally finished in an hour, “Ok now that you’ve eaten let’s go see how Tunaini and Ondoka are, they want to know how your feeling too,” “Ok can you help me up?” “Ok, come on,” he then got Heri up to her feet and walked her out into the bright savannah, “It is very bright out here,” “Yeah I guess we should’ve stayed inside,” “It’s ok I want to see how the other’s are doing,” the both nuzzled each other, but suddenly Heri felt sick to her stomach again, “I…I…I…don’t…feel…so…” she then retched again, “Good, I can’t stand this any longer,” “Hey there is a bright side to all of this, we get to be parents,” “Yeah,” they got to Pride Rocks top cave and walked in to see that Tunaini was resting on Ondoka’s paws, “Hey Shindi,” “Hey brother, how’s Tunaini feeling?” “She’s doing fine, every now and then she’d be throwing up, and me and Siri have been getting her food,” “I’ve been doing all that by myself, I don’t  mind doing it at all, I do it because I love my mate,” “I love her too, and remember I’m not the one who hunted, you were the only male who can hunt in our pride, but doesn’t bother me either,” they talked until Tunaini awoke, “Morning love,” “Morning Ondoka, how long was I asleep?” “For quite some time, how you feeling?” “A little groggy but I feel fine,” “That’s good, maybe me and Shindi here can get you something,” “Would you that would be nice,” “Alright, come on Shindi let’s go,” the two brothers left the cave and began their hunt, “What do you think Tunaini would like to eat?” “Heh I don’t know she’s you’re mate not mine I’m happy as it is with Heri,” “I know I just can’t wait to see what the cub is going to be,” “Me too,” after awhile they returned with a zebra, Tunaini got up and walked up to the zebra and ate, after awhile she finished eating and sat by Ondoka’s side, “Can I hear a poem from you again?                 The next morning Heri felt a sharp pain going through her, “Arrrgh!!!” this woke up Ushindi, “Heri you ok?” “No, I think it’s time,” “Shit, uh, uh, ummm, hang on I’ll go get Siri, just hang on, and breath,” Heri was breathing rapidly but really heavy. As Ushindi made his way up he found Siri talking to Moyo, he ran up to her and, “Siri come quick it’s time,” Siri’s eyes went wide, then she took off and followed Ushindi, when they entered the cave they saw Heri was still breathing, “OK Heri take it easy, just breath and push, breath and push, breath and push,” Siri instructed, “Ushindi check to see if the cub is coming out,” Ushindi nodded and walked over behind Heri,  “Keep breathing and pushing Heri, do you see the head Ushindi?” “Yes it’s coming out, what should I do?” “OK two more pushes, after the second push  the cub out,” after the two pushes Ushindi grabbed the cub gently by the scruff of the neck, and pulled, “Ok Heri your don….” “Siri there’s one more,” Ushindi was still looking, and there in his sight was another head crowning, then Heri said, “Oh god, can’t take this,” “Heri, Heri honey just breath and push, do what I said before,” Heri did as she was told, this went on for fifteen minutes, then the cub came out, and Ushindi picked up that cub and carried both to Heri, “Ok Heri your done now, you can see your cubs,” “Thank you,” Ushindi placed both cubs in Heri’s paw’s and she started to clean them, “They are so beautiful Heri, what are you going to name them?” Siri asked, “Well I was thinking, the boy should be Furhaia, and the girl…” she paused, the Ushindi spoke, “It’s ok Heri you can name her that,” then Heri’s eyes looked at him in surprise, “Really?” “Yes I know how much she meant to you so go on ahead,” “Thank you love, and he girl Namna,” “They are the cutest cubs ever my dear,” Siri spoke softly, “Do you remember that lullaby your mother sang to you?” “Yes I do,” Heri took in a deep breath and began, “Come stop your crying it will be alright, just take my paw hold it tight I will protect you from all around you, I will be here don’t you cry, for one so small you seem so strong, My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm this bond between us, can’t be broken I will be here don’t you cry cause you’ll be in my heart, yes you’ll be in my heart, From this day on, now and forever more, You’ll be in my heart, no matter what they say, you’ll be in my heart, always.
