"Boy am I tired." said Balto walking back to his home, an old wrecked boat.
"Me to." said Boris.
"You know sometimes I wonder were this boat came from." said Balto.
"It came from people Balto." answered Boris. "They dumped it here."
"Yeah but you see how damaged it is. I wonder if there is an epic story behind it." said Balto.
"Don't count on it." said Boris.
While they walked backed to thier home they didn't know Steele was watching them.
"That wolf-dog. Living in that old ship. He doesn't realize that used to be my home." said Steele.
"You used to live on that ship?" asked Star.
"Yes I did." said Steele. "Very long ago."
"Well then tell us the story." demanded Kaltag.
"Fine. I think it was about four years earlier..." began Steele.
The large blast of a ship horn greated the young dog's ears as he wondered through the busy port. Then he spotted it. A ship being loaded with tons of meat. He licked his lips. That meat looked good and he was very hungry. He snuck abord just as the boat chugged of.
On board Captain Hansen and his crew of three, which made four in total, were settling into their new ship. Thier ship was going to be used in transporting food and other things to Nome. Things that couldn't be broguht by dog sled. No sooner had they started their trip when the recieved a telegraph signal saying that storm season was starting early.
Captain's Log. Date: You lose track at sea.
We continue our trip to Nome. That meat wont deliver itself after all. The telegraph message was indeed correct. The water is getting choppy each wave pounds the bow and I fear a storm coming is inevitible (sure to happen). We press on. It always makes me happy to see everyone in Nome.
He was interupted by a knock on the door.
"Come in." he said. A strong crew member named Frank walked in holding a wriggling black and white male puppy in his hands. Everytime the puppy attempted to free itself he just got himself further trapped in Frank's strong python like grip
"Yarr you can't trust the butchers eh? Looks like this hot dog came back alive." chuckled the Captain hansen
"I found him in a meat locker. Ravenous little guy. He ate a pound and a half worth of beef. Hes strong so for a young pup." said Frank.
"Well What do you think we should do with him?" asked the captain Hansen.
"Uh toss him overboard?" replied Frank.
"Yarr that be animal cruelty! I bet he can't even swim yet." said Hansen.
"So then can we keep him?" said Frank.
"I guess so. I always wanted a sea companion but it was to cold for Polly." sighed captain Hansen.
"In that case I name him Steele after Grandmother!" said the crew member.
The captian was shocked.
"Your Grandmother's name was Steele?" said a bewildered captain.
"Yeah she had muscels of steel!" said Frank attempting to flex while holding a dog.
"Well uh I'm at a loss for uh names so um hes Steele go feed him." replied the captain.
"Aye, aye sir!" said the crewmember and he walked away.
Captain's Log:
We had a stow away. A little yet muscular dog. He was named Steele after Frank's Grandmother. Uh yeah anyways I hope he makes a good companion and a work partner. The crew has quickly grown to like him. Hes a bit grumpy but we all like him. The crew has made him all sorts of stuff. Dog toys and other things were all made from stuff lying around. Dan, always being the inventor, even made a wind up toy that looked like a cat.
Two weeks later.
Enveloped in a strong storm the Aurora and her crew were helpless they were no more then 3 miles from the coastline of Nome when the storm hit. The massive waves were hitting the ship over and over. Washing over the side and floading it. The steering had been lost and the crew had flead in a life boat. Steele wached as it tottered over the surface then vanished under a wave. Yet he was in luck. The jammed rudder and still functioning engine made the Aurora chug slowly to the coastling. Then it hit. A massive rogue wave picked up the small ship and carried it far inland. Then there was a deafineng grinding noise the ship smashed against rocks and got dumped onto the frozen beach. Then Steele passed out.
He awoke inside a house.
"Glad to see your awake." said a man.
"I don't know were you came from or your owners. All I know is your name is Steele." he said holding up the captain's log.
"Don't worry." said the man. "I'll be the best wner and you the best dogsled dog."
That was all Steele could remember. He didn't know who his mother or father were.
"That was the most amazing, the most epic, the most interesting, the most-" began Kaltag.
"That was great!" said Star.
Kaltag delivered a sharp blow to Star's head causing him to topple over.
"Yes that was a good story boss." said Niki
"Well I hope you enjoy that boat more then I did wolf-dog." muttered Steele as he walked way.
Meenwhile on the ship.
"Were are you Balto?!" shouted Boris.
"Down here!" replied Balto. Boris went below deck to see Balto rumagging through the junk.
"Isn't it interesting what you can find on this ship." he said showing Boris a battered object with springs coming out of it.
"Interesting for you. I'm not as esily impressed." said Boris taking the object with springs.
"Well I guess you lack on eye for what I see it as." said Balto.
"That coming from a guy who chews bones." said Boris. "Well I'm going to go see what Muk and Luk are up to."
Alone Balto discovered a makeshift dog bed.
"Now why is this here?" he said to himself.
