Aniu laied down in the den. Around her the trees blew a little from the Fall wind. "My little babys! you will be strong some day!" she said licking her three pups. Just then her mate walked in. He was a big dark gray Huskey with brown eyes, his name was Silver. "have they been born?" Silver asked sitting next to his mate. "oh yes! there are three" Aniu answered. Silver looked down at his pups. there was a really big one that was all white like Aniu, and she had a little gray around her eye and muzzle. "Why don't we  name this one...White Moon?" Aniu asked. Silver smiled, "I like that name."  The 2nd one was a light gray with white on his feet. "how about we name that one Socks?" Silver said. "so we have the first two named but what about the runt?" Aniu said. "Runt?! we have a runt!??" Silver asked. Aniu nodded and pulled out the littlest one. He was also a boy and was a redish gray with his dads brown eyes. "hmm...what about...Balto?" Aniu said licking him. Silver nodded and smiled. "We  have are selves a family!" he said.

The pups grew and little bigger and left the den to explore for the first time. White Moon was a loner and did not talk to anyone much. she hung out by the den and talked to her self. Socks was Silver's fav. He was always telling socks how to hunt, pin his sister, and howl. Balto on the other hand was not a fav from his dad. He was picked on by socks and White Moon. they called him runty and small fry. But even if he was weak and small...he was Aniu's fav. she comforted him when he was picked on and she played with him. This was not because she felt bad for him, it was because there was something about him that made her love him more then anything.

It was a nice day and Silver was training Socks to kill mice. Balto was napping by the den when he was woke. 'hey runty! you to small to play anything!? oh I forgot...your a mommys boy!" White Moon said pulling on his tail. Balto inored her and yawned. 'hello? you got to small of ears to hear me runty?!! get up and fight like the runt you are!" Balto snarled. "just leave me alone! ok? I am NOT a runt and I am NOT going to be picked on all my life!" he said. "awwww! the runt is getting madddd!" White Wolf giggled. "At least i don't talk to my..." balto tried to finsh but Socks came out of no were and jumped on Balto's head. he pulled on Balto's ear untill he yipped. "you leave my sister alone runt!!!" he yelled and he and White Moon walked off. Balto turned away, tears going down his cheeks.

"Balto! Balto! oh my sweet little pup whats wrong?" Aniu aslked. 'there picking on me!! calling me runty!" Balto said feeling a little stupid and babyish telling like that. Aniu licked her son on the cheek and hugged him. Balto sat there for hours in her hold, loving her every moment of it. When Balto woke up he was surprised. looking at him was White Moon and Socks. :oh no: he said to him self. "hey hey hey! look who weee have here! its mommys boy sleeping with his mom!" Socks teased. Balto closed eyes hoping to drown them out. "just leave me alone please! I just want to sleep and not have you big dummy heads picking on me!" he yelled. "ohhhh we are telling dad you called us dummy heads!" they said running off. "NO! PLEASE DON'T!" Balto screamed but it was to late.

Silver was sleeping when he woke by the sound of White Moons pretend crying. "dad! Balto called us all dummy heads!" she said. "did he now? i'll have to talk to him, this is not the first time he has called you names." with that he walked off. Balto looked up to see his dad sitting in front of him. 'Balto, please don't call your sister and brother names please?" he asked, with gritted teeth. "but dad I..." "DON'Y TRY THAT! I KNOW WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR BROTHER AND SISTER! YOU MAKE THEM CRY AND RUIN THERE LIFE!" he yelled. the sound made Aniu wake up  "Silver stop yelling im trying to sleep."

"Stop yeling!? you tell me to stop yelling when are son just picked on his sister and brother sooo much they ran to me crying!?" he asked. Aniu got up and walked off before he could finsh. Balto followed her but got bored and walked off into the woods like he always did when he wanted alone time. Rain drops fell on his fur, making is shine and sparkle. Before and could even sit down to rest a big, fat, and lone wolf pinned him to the ground. "what are you doing here and so alone!?" it asked. Balto was to shocked to say or do anything but wimper. "I asked something I want a answer" he snapped. "I...I...I'm just..taking a rest in the woods" balto wimpered again. "wait a sec, your Silver's son? YOUR PART DOG!!!!" he yelled. Balto tried to get up and run but he was pinned to the ground. "I have always wanted to kill thet Silver, ever sence he toke Aniu from me," the wolf said licking his lips. Balto bit down hard on the wolfs paw. Yipping in pain the wolf let go and Balto ran for it. "YOU COME BACK HERE WOLF DOG! I'LL GET YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!" the wolf called after balto.

"Did you get him to tell?, Jack?" a big black wolf asked as he walked up to the wolf with the bleeding foot. "No Cliff! I didn't! happy now?!" Jack asked. Cliff smiled, "I won't be happy untill Silver is dead."
