The love I’ve felt from time to time

Has grown in a way I’ve never known

As the days go from the present to the past

I wonder if love truly goes on

There would be times when I wonder if I’ll continue on

When times of despair comes upon me

I still cry

Though I know I can not change the past

Yet always in a time of lament

Love comes to comfort

From friends and family

To give life to the one who mourns

I’ve grown from the time of my friend’s death

Though scars of the conflict remain

No more can they do anything to me

Love is a shield that protects me

As the stars in the sky

Beyond the reach of all

So is my love from those who seek to destroy it
