When a Life is Taken…
By Aljan Darkmoon 2008
When we take a life or lose a love one
We feel regret and loss
As well as remorse and anger
Yet when one of another race is killed or dies
We could care less
We are human
That is the only reason some care not for the races we call species
They have no soul, they say, nor can they talk, or feel love
They are animals, things that can be killed off or spared
Such is the same for the wolf
Many years ago, thirty-five species thrived around the world
Presently, thirty are no more
Five still live, though their numbers dwindle with each passing day
As I sit here on a knoll, overlooking the valley below
I think of what the future will be
Will it be of destruction?
Or will it be one of unity with Man and Nature?
All I can say is that all have a journey to walk
And all have decisions to make
The only way for all life to survive is for all to make the choices that thrives in everyone’s heart….
If a sword was pointed at your neck
And you had to decide between the life or death of the last wolf
What would you chose?

only evil and a thief of cattle. Thus a law was passed posting a
bounty on the furs of wolves. If there were people who loved wolves,
there were only few during the time of the Wolf Purge (1895-1965). As
children today, we are taught that wolves are evil through stories
(Little Red-Riding Hood, Three Little Pigs, 300, Boy who cried Wolf)
and occasionally, by word of mouth. During this time, one must
discover for himself or herself whether wolves are as evil or "bad" as
they are depicted. Whether they discover for themselves their point
of view of the wolf, is something only they can decide.
