can do to speed my recovery up." Bear commented.
"Well the doctor in this town also doubles as a vet as well he'll know whats wrong." Jenna said confidently. Bear and Axel gave them a confused look and in unison replied with,
"Whats a vet?"
The group returned Bear and Axel's confused look with one of their own.
"What do you mean whats a vet? They are basically doctors for dogs." Dingo replied.
"We haven't ever lived in a town for long enough to learn any of this stuff we've been on our own since we were pups" Axel replied slightly flustered. Bear gave Axel a look that to him screamed 'shut up'.
Seeing this Kirby decided to change the subject slightly.
"How do you plan to get him down there its at least five blocks, given that block here are smaller, I don't see how two dogs could pull him there before nightfall.
"Hey Kirby thats exactly what we'll do. We'll 'pull' him there on Rosy's sled here." Said Balto pointing his paw to the corner of the room.
"Wait don't I get a say in this" Bear barked.
Everyone turned to look at him and replied in unison "Uh...no"
"Great I'm going to look ridiculous riding a sled with two dogs pulling me" Bear grunted.
"No one will even see you it's so close to night time that everyone will be inside, and it's not like you have an image to up hold." Kodi said grinning.
The group helped move Bear onto the sled and Kodi got into the harness. "To bad there's only one harness I guess you don't need me" Dingo said beginning to walk out.
"Hold it I just got back from a run and you didn't do we'll switch about halfway." Kodi said.
"Fine" Dingo sighed reluctant but willing to cooperate with his brother.
"I'll come too", Axel said, "someone has to keep an eye on Bear or he'll try to start walking there himself" Axel said grinning at Bear. Bear sighed and rolled his eyes "If we're going to go let's go than." Kodi, Dingo, Axel and Bear in tow began the trip to the vets. Leaving Kirby, Jenna and Balto back in the shed.
"I had better be going myself need to get a little sleep after today's events." Kirby yawned.
"Well we'll see you around that Kirby" Jenna said waving to Kirby as he left the shed.
"We had better do the same" Balto yawned. Curling up him and Jenna soon drifted off into sweet slumber.
That same night Acre, gale and Terra had stopped to rest until the morning.
"I wonder what he's like?" Gale asked.
Does it matter? Nox will have him wrapped around his paw soon enough", Terra Scoffed, "I don't even know why we're going?"
"Terra" Acre started, "regardless of how powerful Nox is, him and Astra wouldn't be able to hold him too long anyway."
"Why would you say that? What have you heard about the target?" Gale asked curiously.
"Well he's not normally strong" Acre stared.
"What do you mean by normally" Terra asked also curious.
"One of the earlier groups sent out to capture him where found dead" Acre continued.
"So what he got lucky thats all" Gale interrupted.
"But they weren't only dead they were mutilated torn to pieces and the whole place reeked of his scent, but there wasn't a drop of his blood anywhere." Acre said.
"I agree with Gale 'he just got lucky'" Terra replied.
"Does luck kill a full grown grizzly?" Acre asked. The pair became speechless. "I'm glad you see the severity of the situation we're in." Acre grinned knowing full well he completely scared the two.
"now I am wondering if Nox and Astra will be able to take them?" Terra said.
Acre remembered the first time he witnessed the pairs powers. It was a routine hunting trip, it was the first time out for both Gale and Terra. The group had bee following a herd of caribou, they all remained hidden well waiting for the opportune time to strike. Gale made the critical error of not remaining silent and he managed to scare the herd. The herd began to sprint away so as not to lose them the rest of the hunting party gave chase. The chase was fairly even for a minute or so but the caribou were slowly pulling away and when they all thought it was over Gale was pulling ahead of the group moving twice the speed of the caribou. Once he was within range of one he pounced causing the caribou to stumble and fall, this allowed the rest of the hunting party to catch up and finish the job. Gale beamed proudly at his accomplishment knowing full well that it made up for causing the caribou herd to run away. The next hunting trip was a week later and once again the hunting party was in a similar situation. And once again Gale failed to be quiet and the caribou ran away. Terra was more intelligent of the two and had set herself further down the path where the caribou would mos likely run. When a caribou ran past her the following party saw Terra jump out of not behind of a tree, it was one of the most incredible things that they had seen. Her ounce made the clumsy beast fall on it's side and left it wide open to the wolves fangs and claws. This time it was Terra beaming with the group congratulating her.
Acre had heard of similar stories surrounding the pairs siblings Nox and Astra. The four had another brother who was by far the fiercest fighter of the pack unmatched in both speed, prowess, and ability. But unlike his other siblings he never considered the Alpha of the pack to be their father, he looked at him to be a relative but nothing more. he was sent to Anchorage on an assignment and wasn't heard from again. His name that the Alpha gave him was well suited. It was Bane.
Snapping back to reality by Gales constant chatter Acre realized the two were talking.
"we need to hurry and help them!" Gale growled. being the hot head that he is Gale forgot the whole reason they were dispatched.
"I doubt either one of them would make a move without us there to back them up." Acre said. ,"There is no rush we just need to make sure we're ready when we get there"
Gale pinned his ears back in shame "but.."
"No buts" Acre barked, "There targets aren't moving anywhere so Nox and Astra can wait"
Little did the group know that they were being watched from a good distance by Kaust, the packs information gathering specialist, only second to Astra. He himself knew more about both the daily lives of both humans and house dogs than most wolves would know in their lifetime. He was invaluable asset to the pack and for the right price he would give information to others who didn't belong to the pack.
"Sounds to me like Acre doesn't want to get to Nome very quickly. Could it have to do with him or is it something entirely different. Kaust mumbled to himself. Regardless of which it is this will make my errand much easier. But I still don't have time to waste." Kaust was now running ahead of Acre's group and within a few hours was a days trip ahead of them.
Meanwhile in Nome, the house lights where out and everyone was now asleep but two shadowy figures were conversing in one of the many dark alley ways.
"Should we wait to make contact?" a female voice asked.
"Hmm my abilities would be more effective if they realized that we are here." A male voice replied darkly.
"Just say when I can pin point them at anytime" the female voice chuckled.
"In that case let's have a little fun. We'll let them know we're here but we won't make a move on them afterwards, we'll let them marinate in their own fears which will make their capture all the more sweeter." the ale voice said.
"Sounds fine by me, so when should we make our move?" the female voice asked.
"Tomorrow around noon" the male replied.
"I can't wait to get up close and personal with them" the female voice chuckled.
