Bears Chronicles Chapter Two: Darkness Raising

Deep in the Alaskan mountain range a small wolf makes it's way, through the two feet deep snow and the dead limbs of the surrounding trees, to a nearby cave. The wolf is moving at a hastened pace no slowing down for even a moment until it reaches the cave. Once inside the cave consists of a long tunnel that, due to small fissures in the roof of the cave, is surprisingly bright. Lining the tunnel walls wolves all standing at attention. The small wolf nervously pads to the back of the long tunnel. Once at the back there is and archway formed by fallen stalagmites, and beyond that is a large open chamber covered by shadows. He nervously walks up to the archway and stops. A low, deep and cold voice comes from the shadowed room.
"Enter!" Not wishing to upset whatever owned the voice, the wolf slowly walked into the open room. the only source of light came from a small fissure in the ceiling which seemed to act as a spot light focused on him. Obviously afraid the wolf turned around unable to see anything beyond the small circle of light that he now stood in.
"What news do you bring?", the voice commanded.
The wolf eyes became wide and he stood there for a second not unresponsive.
"I'll ask you again...WHAT NEWS DO YOU BRING?" the voice yelled this time making it impatience known.  Without a second thought the wolf now stood up straight and in a monotonous voice said.
"The targets have reached Nome and have successfully assimilated into the community."
the wolf now heard a low chuckling all around him unable to ascertain what direction it came from. "Good thats what I wanted to hear. Acre!" the voice bellowed and the next thing the wolf knew another slightly larger wolf now stood in the light next to him.
"yes sir, what would you have of me?" the wolf asked.
"Acre, you are to go and  retrieve the targets a bring them back here. Understood?" the voice commanded.
"Understood!" the wolf barked in reply. As he was beginning to exit the room the voice added,
"And take Gale and Terra with you their skills should prove invaluable." the wolf had stopped but now continued make his way out. the small wolf still in the center of the room heard a almost in audible "Yes Father" the wolf's mouth.

Now out side of the chamber the wolf known as Acre was solemnly making his way down the tunnel. He glanced to his right a spotted a pair of smaller wolves one pure black and the other pure white. Gesturing to the wolves they began to follow after him out of the cave.

The black wolf's name was Gale, and his sister Terra was the white wolf. Opposite in both color and attitude, they constantly fought. Acre had known them since they were pups they're joining the pack was slightly different. The packs Alpha had set out one morning on his own for their was little fear of any neighboring packs attacking for they lived in a totally isolated area surrounded by mountains. And later towards dusk he returned with four pups in tow behind him. He adopted them as his own children and so did the female Alpha for she only had two pups of her own and wished for more. The pups included Gale, Terra, another female who's fur was a light brown and white, she appeared more dog than wolf, her name was Astra. the final pup was the most quiet out of the bunch but also the most cruel when it came to fighting his name was Nox for his dark fur and attitude. Very seldom did one hear a word from his mouth, no one but Astra had ever held a conversation with him that was more that two words; the occasional 'hi' and 'bye' which is all he had ever said to Acre.
Acre's reminiscing was interrupted but Gale's constant chatter.
"Whats our job this time Big Brother?" Gale asked. Big Brother was gale's name for Acre even though no one else called him that Gale insisted on calling him Big Brother regardless and after a year it kind of grew on Acre.
"We're to position ourselves on the borders to Nome and wait for the signal and than take our target, swiftly and with precision." Acre replied.
"I have a question," Terra barked, "What IS the signal?"
Acre replied "Astra she's made her way into the town's community of dogs and is going to gain they're trust and lure them to a place where we can do this quietly."
Both Terra and Gale now wore a grin on their faces.
"If she's handling it that means Nox is there too." Terra chuckled. Gale nodded in agreement with his sister. Acre remained solemn and composed.
Finally reaching the entrance of the cave Acre said "We have a lot of ground to cover before nightfall."
"Sure whatever you say Big Bother" gale said And with that the trio was now running of in the direction of Nome.

Back in the chamber a dark brown wolf stood at attention in the center of the room.
"I need you to watch Acre, it's possible he's planning on rebelling against me."
the wolf bowed his head in compliance and replied with a firm "Yes Sir!" he was making his way out of the room when the voice called back to him.
"Oh and Kaust also meet with Nox and Astra and inform them on this new development."
Turning back to the center of the room  Kaust  bowed again. "As you wish" and with that was now out of the chamber in pursuit of Acre group.    Once Kaust had left the room another voice spoke up,
"Was that wise to send him? Considering his prior relationship with our targets." The previous voiced scoffed,
"That's exactly why I sent him. If all goes as planned I won't have to destroy him."
"So its a test of loyalty is it?" the second voice said in reply.
"Exactly but if he fails, I now have all my enemies in one place. So Nox and the others can eliminate them." then he began to laugh.
"What are you possibly laughing about?" the second voice asked.
"It's the absolute irony to this whole plan. It could be ruined by the one we need for it to work."
'I am wondering how you intend on getting him to help you?" the second voice asked.
"Let's just say he'll see things my way fairly soon."
"Has he learned to control his ability yet?"
"No, but thats where you come in."
"So now we just wait and see."

Back in Nome Balto, Jenna, and Axel were waiting for Kirby to bring back Kodi and Dingo.
"So Axel",Balto started, "Why did you come to Nome?"
Axel wore a guilty look and stared down to the ground.
"Well I...I mean we", looking towards the sleeping dog, "came here...because...well to" he stuttered.
"We came to get a fresh start" a voice said. They all look at the dog who was no longer sleeping.
"Well looks like you decided to wake up" Balto said.
"How are you feeling?" Jenna asked.
"I'm a little sore but no worse for the ware" he said.
"I don't believe I got your name" Balto said.
"It's...it's...Bear" he replied
"Well Bear that was a very brave thing to do; jumping out to save that child like that" , Jenna said.
"Not really anyone else would have done the same thing." Bear commented
"Are you JOKING there aren't many who would put themselves in the situation you put yourself in!" Balto  said.
"I'm sorry that we are imposing on you like this" Bear said.
Both Balto and Jenna looked at each other and began to laugh. Both Axel and Bear stood there very bewildered as to why they were laughing.
"I'm sorry," Jenna said still laughing, "Its just that your asking OUR forgiveness when you were the one putting yourself on the line."
"Anyway once Kirby brings Kodi and Dingo here we'll be able to get you to the vet, so he can make sure you're healthy" Balto said.
"Thanks but I'm fine see" Bear said standing up. Axel came up and poked Bear in the side with his paw. "OW" Bears yelped falling back to the floor.
"Yeah your perfectly fine" Axel said sarcastically.
"Just give me a day to rest and I'll be fine" Bear snapped.
Just then a red and white husky rushed in the door panting.
"Ha I told him I could beat him here!" the husky said.
"Kodi, where's your bother?" Jenna asked. The husky looked at Jenna and smiled.
"It's alright mom Dingo and Kirby are right behind me." he said taking a look outside expecting to see Dingo and Kirby right there. To his surprise neither were anywhere to be seen. "I guess I went a little too fast for them" Kodi commented. Kodi took notice to Bear,
"So are you the one who took on the Bear?" Kodi asked.
"Uh...yeah I suppose I am" Bear replied. Two more dogs panting heavily came through the door. One looked identical to Kodi except he was smaller built; the other was Kirby and neither looked to be in any better condition than Bear.
"Why did you have to run so fast Kodi?" the husky asked "You should know that neither me or Kirby can run that fats."
"Speak for yourself I used to be able to run that fast until my injury" Kirby barked in protest.
Kodi smiled, "you two need the exercise anyway it's not like it hurt you"
"Tell that to my aching heart!" the husky barked.
Kirby saw Bear was awake and he asked "You felling any better pal?"
Bear smiled at Kirby "Yeah you didn't think that I would die that easy did you?"
Kirby replied "Are you joking you were underneath a two-hundred some pound bear most dogs would be dead or crippled!"
"Thats what I said!" Balto added. Dingo not wanting to be left out cleared his throat,
"So why did you want to see us so  urgently  Mom...Dad?"  he  asked.
Bear raised his paw in the air "Most likely it's because of me" he commented before anyone had a chance to answer Dingo. "But I'm fine see..." he said standing up, legs shaking. Dingo rolled his eyes.
"Right but just to be sure... " Dingo pads besides Bear and nudges him. Bear loses his balance and again falls back to the floor.
"Thats why we asked Kirby to go get you two" Jenna said "We just can't move him anywhere else both me and your father are just getting to old for this type of stuff." Both Kodi and Dingo roll their eyes, knowing full well they weren't that old.
"Where do you plan on taking me anyway it's not like there anything anyone can do to speed my
