Puphood Love

Many a day has passed

Time goes by as the wind does in the air

As I look to the west

I prick my ears to the song of a song bird as it flies towards the sunset…

 

Oh, how fair and beautiful does the sun look as it goes to its rest

For a moment, my irises turn magenta in the bright rays of light

A warm breeze blows around me; my fur dances playfully with it

I feel a grin on my muzzle, a grin of enjoyment

 

Then I nosed a companion in the wind

Her scent was on I knew for I knew her since puphood

Even before she was near, I heard her calm, kind, and gentle voice in the wind…

Calling my name

 

My heart leaped as she settled beside me

We nuzzle each other in happiness

Our bond is strong though we’ve been apart for so long…

No more is it a friendship bond but a bond of love…

 

Silky is her soft grey fur

Yellow and piercing are her eyes that are now filled with love

Sleek, beautiful, and dangerous is her body

Honed to the sharpest edge

 

Another warm gust of wind comes over us

Intertwining our fur as they danced

She leaned against me

Grateful for my company and presence

 

Memories pass through our minds and out in our words

Though our bodies had changed

The pups within us hadn’t

We were still young as we were many years ago

 

Playfully she nipped at me and jumped away

Daring me to join her in play

I am a pup and I’ll always remain one under the eyes of the creator

Hesitate I did not, and leaped after my love, whom I had loved since childhood
