"Hetcha, Hetcha!" exclaimed the young wolf

Hetcha raised his head, feeling rather annoyed. He had hoped that he would be able to catch a good nap.

"What" he snapped, rather aggressively.

"I can't help it, I really love your golden fur."

Hetcha rolled his eyes in annoyance, this wasn't the first time his younger brother said that. Blain was a second litter of his family. He had darker fur and he was rather persistent, which sometimes bugged the crap out of him. In fact, his fur wasn't entirely golden, more of a bright tan. He supposed it looked golden on some cases, who knows.

It was a really special day for Hectha, the day where he finally gets to graduate as a warrior, that's why he wanted a nap, so he can feel all good and ready. The last time Blain had asked him for the resource of his fur, He had told him to wait until he was full grown, that way he could leave him alone until he was old enough to realize that he would never get golden fur.

"Blain, I already told to wait until your older. Why are you buggin' me again?" He growled

"I'm sorry, but I really, really, really, want your fur".

"Allright, fine! I'll give you a secret of my fur color. If I tell it to you, will you leave me alone?"

Little Blain nodded eagerly, his expression hungry for information.

"Okay" Hetcha sat up a bit to get comfortabe " When I was younger, maybe a bit younger than you, I had gone to the highest peak, and howled to the sun. Don't ask me why" he added quickly, he was in no mood to answer stupid questions.

"Then what?" inquired Blain

"I howled for the longest time, finally the Spirits of the Sun came down and before I knew it, I had the fur I have today."

"No way" said his brother in awe. His eyes were wide.

"So scram" said Hectha. He put his head down, ready to sleep.

Blain got up and dashed off eagerly.

"Thanks Hetcha" he called over his shoulder.

When he was gone, Hetcha closed his eyes. He couldn't help but feel amused. His bother was so gullible. There are no such things as "Sun Spirits". He had sent his brother on a wild goose chase. But Hetcha wasn't bothered by it. He would later apologize. Besides, no harm could come from a small lie or joke.

Blain raced off eagerly to get his golden fur. He never stopped to condsider the fact that it was all a lie. His obsession drove him forward. Blain had gone to the top of a hill, where he could get a good view. He raised his head and the sun shone over him. Blain wondered for how long would he have to howl in order to recieve his reward. He had already decided that he would keep his eyes open, so that way he wouldn't miss the Sun Spirits like his brother had. He coudn't wait any longer, he threw his head back and howled.

He howled for the longest time. After a long time his neck began to hurt form having to raise his head and how. His throat was gettign sore too. But just the thought of a gorgeous golden pelt kept him going, it was his motivation. It must of have been a long time, he couldn't keep it up. He finally put his head down, his neck cracked a bit from being so stiff. He coudlnt really see anything all he saw were some bright flashes, form staring at the sun too long.

His eyes stung like crazy when he closed them. He glanced at his fur to see of the Spirits had granted him a gold coat. He was still seeing flashes so he decided to take a nap, he was feeling rather sleepy.

When Blain opened his eyes he saw that everythign had gone dark. It must be night time he told himself. He got up and stretched a bit. He raised his head in hope to see a moon, but there was none. He also found it odd that there were no stars in sight. He glanched at his fur, but he was unable to see it, which rather disappointed him. He didn't think he could wait until daylight to see his promised gold fur.

He wanted to walk around, but felt nervous to do so since he was unable to see his way though this bitter darkness. He realized that he was panting a bit, and noticed that the air was rather hot. This was unusual, because normally at night the air was a bit cooler, especially if he was up at higher grounds.

He felt that something was not right, not right at all. The signs practically concluded that it was still daytime, but why couldn't he see it. He pawed at his face for a moment, maybe something was in the way of his eyes. No wthat he thought about it, his eyes were stinging a bit. He paused form a momnet, tryign to make sense of it all. He pondered on the fact that he ha kept his eyes open, yet he hadn't seen any Sun Spirits. It led up to the only conclusion.....

He was blind. For the first five seconds he just sat there, let it all sink in. At first he was amused, with a new experiance, then he the reality sank in. He was blind!!!!!! It was a very scary moment and thought for the yound wolf. He pawed at his face furiously, at hope that it was all a big misunderstanding. His hope failed him, and he felt a small auge to bolt and run, and instinct he felt wherever he was scared.

But there was no where to run. Or no reason for that matter. He was left vulneralbe, which frightened him even more. He didn't knwo what to do. He was afraid of taking a wrogn step and hurting himself, or even killing himself.

He began to whimper a bit, because he was so scared. Then he thought of the golden pelt he might have, but it even grievened him more that he would never ever be able to see it. Blian didn't really think of it as Hetcha's fault, for leading him to an awful lie, he blamed himself. Just for beign foolish enough to leave his eyes open.

he finally stood up, and very causily began to feel his way around. Thank SpiritClan he was lucky enough to climb down the hill unharmed. He didnt know what to do next. He figured that he should tried to follow hsi scent. After some searching and sniffing he discovered that the trail was very faint and nearly gone, it wasn't enough.

____________________________________________________________

While Blain tried his hardest to return home, Hetcha had was on his way back from greetign Gitsa, hsi new apprentice. The young she wolf was very energetic, very much like his younger brother.

As this thought crossed his mind, Hetcha began to wonder where Blain was. He was rather irratated that he missed his ceremony. He should be back by now, he expected for his younger brother to return looking sulky and crossed at the prank he pulled on him. But no had seen Blain since Hetcha set him off.

Hetcha figured that it was nothing, only that Blain was more persistent than he thought. He began to bad back to his den, thinking more about his new assginment of Gitsa.

The days had passed and Blain was stilll stuggling to get home. Most of it was because he was being extremely cautious, due to his blindness. It drove hm crazy, but for the most part hewas really torn, wondering what did he do to derserve this.

It was only luck that he hasn't crossed into some unknown or enemy territory. The scent markings kept him away, and he focused more on his faint wavering scent.

He was about to give up, since it seemed to be doing him no good. New scents allof the sudden began to rise up. He paused to drink it in, and determine what it was he smelled. It was a mixure of things, but he knew one thign for sure; he was very close to home.

He felt very excited, especially after days of search. He quickly, although still quite cautious, he began to navigate his way through his homeland. It was a bit easier, since he was more familiar of his own terittory. as he got closer, the smells became more stronger and familiar. He was able to detect his clan mates and even his own brother.

As he got closer he began to get worried. The smells began to smell differetnly, mixed with ........fear?! The scent of blood was also becoming stonger, but there was aniother scent that overpowered the rest. The scent of bear.

He finally arrived at his campsite, but he could easily tell that somethign was not right. He realized that all of the wolves were gathered for meeting. His father, Surgis was at the center, addressign him to all.

"Because of my son's foolish mistake, our Clan has suffered very much. We can only try to recover in time, if we each do our part. Several clanmates have died, we can only hope that SpiritClan will have a place for them" He growled

There was several murmurs of reverence, agreement and grief.

Surgis re-addressed the clan " Has anyone seen my younger son, Blain by any chance?"

Blain was standing, horrified by what he just heard. From what he understood, a bear had attacked the clan, and the fault was his brother's. It didn't seem to make sense, but it still tore him to hear it anyway. A new emtiopn came across him, fear. His father, Surgis, was very stict and harsh. He began to wondr where his brother was, until he heard someone cry out;

"I see him, Blain is right there"

Blain can feel everyone's gaze bore on him as all the heads turned to get a better look. Blain cringed because he felt defenseless and even more vulnerable, even though he was safe in his own clan. He could feel the vibrations of feet moving around, and he somehow  new that the clan had made a passage way between him and his father.

"Where have you been" growled his father menancely

"Out" murmmered Blain

"At such a time where the clan need you?!" he snapped.

This caused Blain to
