He's Back

Flames scorch is fur as he walks down a path of wind battered soil. Everything is dark and the only light is the hell fire that surrounds him, he sits on his haunches and thinks about Balto and his son Kodi who had killed him a couple weeks before he thinks to himself "I wish I could get my fangs into that punk" just then a wolf with jet black fur and red eyes approaches Steele. He says "what do you want Pain" a cool female voice replies "I can help you get revenge on Balto and his family" Steele's ears perk and he says "really?" she nods saying "but in return I want something" he replies "what" she says "I want Balto's soul" he says "why" she laughs then glares at him saying "his mother Aniu killed me" Steele thinks it over and says "we have a agreement" she places her paw on his and he feels a warmth spread over him.

Steele wakes up in a snowdrift he shakes the snow from his body and stretches his body saying "good to be back" and he grins. Steele walks towards the direction of Nome. In Nome Balto wakes up with his chest hurting he looks at Jenna who is sleeping peacefully next to him and he thinks "why is my heart hurting I wonder maybe I slept on apart of my body the wrong way" he looks at himself in the nearby water bowl and sees his eyes have a tired expression in them and he says "I am getting to old this body cannot sustain me much longer" Jenna wakes up behind him and he looks at her with a smile. Aleu and Kodi walk into the room and Aleu says "good morning papa" Balto looks at his daughter and smiles saying "morning" he walks into the kitchen of Rosies house and find Rosies mother with a steaming cup of coffee in hand sitting there. She looks at Balto and nods curtly at his presence and she goes to the cupboard and pulls down a bag of dog food and pours Balto a bowl. After he is done eating Balto walks around Nome and finds Lyon his sons Kodis friend. Lyon is munching on a bone and when he sees Balto approaching he yips a hello.

Balto looks at Lyon saying "have you seen Kodi" Lyon nods saying "I saw him with Dusty they are probably hanging around somewhere" Balto says "thanks" Lyon says "your welcome" then he goes back to eating his bone and watching Balto leave. Steele enter into Nome and walks through a back alley way. He looks around saying to himself "where is that stinkin mutt" he sees Kodi walking down the street with Dusty infront of him. Steeles anger boils over. As he rushes into the street Kodi sees him saying "it is not possible" Steele grins saying "it is" Kodi lunges at Steele. Steele dodges and bites into Kodis throat. Kodi feels his teeth bite into his throat tears come into his eyes from the pain. He wrenches himself from Steeles mouth and stands before him breathing heavily.

Steele looks at Kodi's ragged frame saying "I think you have no more than five minutes to live" Kodi says "yeah I have no intention of dying" but this was a lie Kodi's vision was becoming blurry and his right side of his body was numb. Kodi jumps onto Steele and clamps his jaws into his side. Steele bucks around trying to throw Kodi off of him, Kodi after awhile lets go. He falls to the ground and thinks "no not yet move body move" Steele looks down at him and says "well so much for you" Kodi tries to stand again Steele becomes angry and throws him into a wall. Kodi hits it with a loud whack then slumps to the ground. Kodi's vision fades and he continues to hold onto life until he is floating above his broken body then disappears into the afterlife.

Dusty runs towards Balto's home a boat on the edge of Nome, her heart is beating with fear for Kodi. Balto sees the fear in her eyes and says "whats wrong" she skids to a halt and out of breath says "Steeles back he attacked Kodi" this took awhile for Balto's brain to analyze then says "how and where is Kodi" she says "I dunno how he is back but I left him and Kodi in the alleyway by the post office" Balto rushes off the boat followed by Dusty. When they arrive in the alleyway Balto can smell Steele's scent in the air, he sees Kodi collapsed against one of the walls of the alley. Balto walks over to him he sees the snow is red around his fallen body, he places his ear to his sons chest and hears no heartbeat or the rise and fall of his lungs.

Tears come to Balto's eyes, Dusty approaches from behind him and nuzzles Kodi saying "get up" he doesn't move she gets angry saying "Kodi get up" she lays here head on Kodi's back saying "what are we going to do Balto" he replies "I am going to stop Steele" he turns from her and walks down the alleyway following Steeles scent. Steele is leaning against a building and watching his wounds Kodi had inflicted heal he thinks "I guess Pain give more than what I had thought" his ears perk as he sees Balto approaching him with hatred in his eyes. He says "so the mutt shows up how do you like how I left your son" Balto growls saying "for to long you have haunted my paw prints preying of my familys fear I will make sure you no longer can do that" Steele unexpected bites into Balto's flank. White flashes before Balto's eyes like snow falling over him. When the white clears he is standing before Steele who is grining he says "well I removed you as a threat" he says "how" over Steeles shoulder Balto notices a form slumped on the ground. He walks past Steele and sees himself, his mouth is agap like he was screaming his eyes wide open in terror. The normal brown color of his eyes has faded Balto turns and says "what did you do to me" Steele grins saying "I removed your soul from that pathetic wolf body of yours so you aren't a threat" Balto lunges at Steele but passes right through him.

Jenna comes into the alleyway and sees Balto slumped on the ground she rushes up to him then sees Steele. Steele says "well isn't it Jenna what a surprise" Jenna bares her fangs saying "you killed my son" he nods saying "yes I did" she jumps onto him and bites into his side. Steele gasps at the pain and bites into her throwing her into a wall saying "so it will end like your son" Jenna trys to stand but can't. Balto looks at Jenna saying "get up" Steele walks over to her saying "time to die" just then Balto's body is standing in the way between him and Jenna. He looks at it saying "how" he looks at the ghostly Balto standing there then at the Balto between Jenna and him. Balto says "never underestimate the power of love" Balto gets back into his body and shakes his fur saying "Now where was I" he bites into Steeles throat crushing his windpipe. Steele falls to the ground twitching then he is still.

Jenna pounces on him and nuzzles him saying "I though I lost you" he says "you never will" as they leave the alley Dusty and Kodi approach them Balto looks at his son saying "it isn't possible" he says "well it is your mother Aniu let me come back" Balto looks at the sky and silently says "thanks mother" they make their way home and to a happy tommorrow.
