Balto the Puppy
Part two
*Flashback still going on from part one*
The sleeping Balto awoken from a noise outside of the boiler room. He wanted to go check to see what happened, even though it was pitch black out side. The noise came from the allies, so Balto followed the noise’s track.
CRASH! It was one of the trash cans falling down to the ground. Balto had gotten a better look at the figure. It was Steele with sausage in his mouth dangling. “Steele! What are you doing at this time of late night? And……………” Balto was interrupted by the clumsy malamute.
“I stole sausage from one of those men! They are out to get me Balto! Would you help me?” Balto was looking at the sinister face on Steele. At first he thought it was a trick or something, but the blue eyes were telling it all. “Sure, I will help you.” Balto said, trying to study Steele’s smirking face. “Then take this sausage. I will be back in a second.” Balto was looking confused at first, but then he figured out what was going on when Steele brought men back with him.
“It was that stray! That wild wolf thing stole our sausage!” said the butcher, pointing his finger in front of a crowd of people. The sausage was lying down on Balto’s feet, and Balto gave Steele a look of rage.
“Here you go Steele; you could keep the sausage for an award. Thank you for finding ‘that’ mutt.” Steele was smirking with wickedness on his face. Balto had tears coming down his face. Being called ‘that’ mutt made him feel not important. After when Steele was given the sausage, people again started to shoo Balto off by kicking snow at him. Balto again had tripped, and laughs filled his ears and mind up. So he ran faster and faster, and then he had reached the beach. He saw the Northern Lights flicker through the sky. Balto looked up to them. At least the lights won’t judge me like other people and animals had. The night was cold, and he was shivering from the frosty wind. So he looked some where for shelter, and he ran along the beach. Then, he came upon an abandon ship that was wrecked on the shore. Next, Balto entered the ship, and had found a little blanket in the corner. He went under the blanket to keep himself warm, but then he saw something out of the corner of his eye.
“Vwhat are you doing here!” shouted a Russian goose who was mopping the floor at night.
“I…. I’m staying….. staying here for the night.” Said Balto in a frightened voice. He never knew someone had lived in this ship before.
“Vwhere are your parents? Don’t you know NOT to run away from them?” said the goose questioning the little scruffy pup. Balto gave a gloomy look on his face.
“I don’t have parents.” He said in a mumbling voice.
The goose look disappointed for scaring the little pup like that, so to make it up for him, he said, “Alright. You could stay here for the night.” Replied the goose. Then, Balto jumped up and down from excitement.
“Really? I can stay here for tonight?!” Balto was so happy that he practically tackled Boris to the ground with many licks on his face.
“Yes, really. Now get off me licking machine.” Said Boris trying to push away Balto from licking him to death.
“So, vwhats your name.” said the goose sitting down next to Balto.
“My name is Balto, and I’m half husky and half wolf.” Boris gulped, thinking that this pup will eat him alive.
“What’s your name?” Balto said in wonder.
“Um, my name is Boris, and please don’t eat me…..” he said shaking in fear. Balto began to laugh in a howling voice.
“I promise not to eat you.” Said Balto smiling. Boris smiled back at him, and the night was getting late. Balto yawned, and his eyes started to close. Luckily, Balto didn’t snore, and Boris was thankful for that. After Balto went to sleep, Boris got some shut eye too. Boy, what a busy day, he thought as his mind was putting himself to sleep.
“Wake up! Wake up!” Balto repeated in Boris’s ear. He was awake way before Boris, and he was jumping up and down on him.
“One more minute, Balto……….” Said Boris as his voice trailed off in his sleep. Then, Balto licked Boris again like last night. Boris felt the slobber all over his face, and he jumped up from his nap. Then, he wiped the slobber off his face, and looked at Balto for licking him.
“I don’t like being licked.” He said as he was looking at Balto in suspicion.
“And I don’t like sleepy heads.” Said Balto as he giggled.
“Ha ha, very funny.” Boris said in sarcasm. Then, he grabbed the mop again with the bucket and started to wet and clean the floor.
“You can leave and play somewhere else, but be back until you see the sun over the horizon.”
“Okay! I will be back then! Bye Boris!” said Balto as he was running off toward the little town Nome. When he arrived there, he saw the red pup again with her friends. He thought Jenna was the cutest pup around in town. So he ran toward her to say hi, but Steele got in the way to talk to Jenna first.
“Hey Jenna.” Said Steele walking right next to her. Jenna rolled her eyes, but she tempter herself to give a ‘hi’ back.
“Um, hi Steele.” She said, and she really wanted to get rid of him right at the moment when he walked right next to her.
“Do you want to find some buried bones?” said Steele as he was jumping up and down in front of her.
“No thank you Steele, I had……… just ate breakfast.” Said Jenna, trying to turn away from his big, obnoxious head. Steele frowned, but he had another idea to make her come with him. But before he could say anything, Balto walked in front of him to talk to Jenna too.
“Hi Jenna!” said Balto in his perky voice. Jenna smiled at him. At least Balto isn’t full of himself. She said in her thoughts.
“Hey Balto.” She said as she was turning away from Steele. Ugh, that wolf- dog is getting annoying. I have to make him go away from my girl. So Steele turned to Jenna, giving her a sincere look with his bright, blue eyes.
“Jenna, did you know that Balto stole meat last night from the ONLY butcher in town.” Said Steele smirking the way he does. Jenna looked at Balto in astonish.
“Balto, I can’t believe you would do such a thing…………..” Jenna said, but she was interrupted by Balto.
“It was Steele who stole the sausage late last night!” Balto shouted, looking at him with frustration and anger.
“Me? Why would I do that?” Steele said as he was hesitating to find more words.
“Steele is that true?” said Jenna, giving him an irritation look for lying to her face.
“Uh, I have to go Jenna. My owner is calling my name so I could be trained to be a sled dog………….” He said as he was trotting away from Jenna. Jenna shook her head.
“Sometimes I can’t understand that malamute. He makes me sick to my stomach when ever I see him. Well, I have to go Balto. Will I see you later?” Jenna said with a little grin on her face. Balto smiled back, and he giggled too.
“Yup, you will see me tomorrow.” Balto said to Jenna as she was walking away. They both grinned at each other, and the two were heading the opposite way from one another. Balto looked up at the sky, and the sun was right in the middle. There’s still plenty more to do. He thought to himself as he trotted somewhere else in town.
