‘ When did you wake up?’ He asked as he and Shakira nuzzled.  

‘ A couple hours before you did. Thanks for saving me.’ She said. 

 
‘ Your welcome. Ben’s preparing bison, you wanna have a taste?’ Sitka asked as they stopped nuzzling.  

 
‘ Sure.’ Shakira answered as she followed Sitka inside. They sat by their bowls and ate. Both knew that they couldn’t stay forever, but did Ben know that? What if he thought they had run away and were never to return?  

 
‘ You two enjoy your meal while I go out. I’ll be back soon enough.’ Ben said as he grabbed his coat and rifle and went through the door. Sitka swallowed the last piece of food and sat by the fire. Shakira finished soon after and sat next to him. 

 
‘ How are we gonna leave him, after he saved us?’ She asked.  

‘ I have no idea, but I’ll think of something soon.’ He answered. He knew that being a father; Rex’s instinct would bring him out and into the forest to find his son.  

 

Meanwhile, Rex sat among his friends afraid of telling them what their children’s future was, what their own future was. He thought of Sitka, if he was still alive or not. He also thought of Soul, was she okay? Did she miss him as much as he missed her? While he thought, the others chewed on snowshoe hares caught earlier that day. Talon was sitting only 10 feet away, but didn’t dare nudge an inch closer.
