every time he looked at her. He'd never felt like this before.

The two of them, had woken up early, so that they could meet Balto and tell him the news.

"At least Tycha got up early." Tim thought.

Tim hadn't ever went to sleep. He knew he should, because of the long trip ahead of them, but he couldn't. After Tycha fell asleep beside him, he just stared at her, thinking of all the things this new chapter in his life was going to bring.

"Yeah," Tim thought, "We're a little young, but we can make it."

He already had an idea of where to live.

"If it's okay with Balto that is." He thought.

The two of them were now nearing the sled barn.

Balto and Jamie were outside.

"Hey Jamie," Tycha said, "I need to talk to you.

Jamie at looked at her a little strangely and then she followed Tycha into the sled barn.

"I need to talk to you too," Tim said.

"What is it?" Balto asked.

"Well.."

Tim smiled.

"You remember how you said the other day that anything could happen? Well I think it did."

Balto smiled at him.

"That's good to here," Balto said, "Tycha I assume?"

Tim nodded.

"Well what do you need to talk to me about?" Balto said, "I'm not going to keep you from doing anything. I'm not your parent after all."

"Well..." Tim began.

"Tycha and I are going to need a home, and I was wondering...."

"If you could use the boat?" Balto asked.

Tim nodded.

"Yeah, exactly."

"I'm not going to need it anymore," Balto said, "so it's fine with me."

"Great," Tim said, a grin spreading across his face.

"Now Tim," Balto said, "being in a relationship like this.... it isn't all fun and games, a lot of times it's hard work. You've only known her for a day, are you sure?"

"I can't explain it Balto," Tim said, "but somehow, I just.... I just know. When I look at her, I see... I see me, or someone who's a whole lot like me anyway. Last night we spent like seven hours, just talking. It was so cool. I mean I like to talk...."

Balto interrupted him.

"Ya think?" he said, smiling.

Tim just continued on, barely hearing Balto's comment.

."..but I've never talked like that. We have so much in common, it's unbelievable.

About that time the two females, Tycha and Jamie walked back out of the shed.

Tycha walked over and stood by Tim.

"Balto," Jamie said, "can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Sure," Balto replied as he walked over to her.

She looked a little upset.

The two of them walked around to the side of the barn.

"Balto," She said, "Tycha just told me she was leaving with you."

"Yeah I guess they are, what's wrong?"

"Well.... Tycha is my only friend, I know you wouldn't believe this, but most of the other dog's around here don''t like me all that much."

"I... I found Tycha about six months ago, she was dumped off, same as me."

Balto interjected.

"You're a... a stray?"

Jamie nodded.

"Why?" Balto asked, "What happened to Olie?"

"They just left one day Balto," Jamie said, "I don't know where they went. At least they left me in my bed, that way I had somewhere to sleep."

"Jamie I'm.... I'm so sorry," Balto said, "I had no idea..."

She smiled.

"I know," she said. "Anyway, I was wondering.... if Tycha is coming to Nome with you.... can I come too?"

"I... I guess so." Balto said.

"Don't worry Balto," Jamie said, "I'll be nice to this.... Jenna and I won't get in the way.... but..."

"But what?" Balto asked.

"But we could still be friends, right?"

"Of course we could," Balto replied, "I'd love to introduce you to Jenna and my kids. I... I've never told anyone about Applegate, well one time I told Jenna a little bit. I thought it would be best to just try to forget it, but now.... now I can tell all of them."

"That'd be great," Jamie said.

"Wait," said Balto, "where would you live?"

"I'll find somewhere," Jamie said, ""I've made it out here, haven't I?"

"I suppose so," Balto said, as he smiled.

"Well let's go then, Jack will probably be there by now."

"Yeah probably," Balto said

Then the two of them walked back around the shed.

Sure enough; when the two of them came back around the corner, Jack was there, talking to Tycha and Tim.

"Hey there you guys are," Jack said, as he smiled and walked over to them. "I was just asking these young ones over here where you were."

"We just stepped over to the side for a minute." Balto said.

"Sounds to me like we have a little group going on, now, Tim over there told me about Tycha."

Balto nodded.

"Yeah I tend to agree with you Jack, plus Jamie's coming with us too."

"You seem like such a nice young girl." Jack said.

"Jack," Jamie said, "I'm almost seven years old. I'm not a young girl."

"Compared to me you are," Jack said.

Jamie laughed.

"Well," Jack said, after a moment of silence had passed, "we should probably hit the trail. Balto, the sooner we can get to Nome the better your situation will be."

"He's right," Jamie said.

She turned to Tycha.

"Tycha, are you ready?" She asked.

Tycha smiled at Tim, and nodded her head.

"Then let's go," Balto said.

The five of them started trotting down the snow-covered streets.

Balto and the group had been traveling for the better part of a day now, and they were looking a little tired, especially Tim.

"I'll have to make sure he get's some sleep tonight," Balto thought, "I bet he didn't get a wink in last night.

Balto thought back to the times he and Jenna had spent out on the hills outside of Nome.

"Those were the good old days," Balto thought, "When Jenna and I were alone all the time, nothing to do but be with each other. No pups, no team, just the two of us...

CHAPTER XIX

Balto was walking down the streets of Nome. It had been almost a full week since the now famous serum run. Balto and Jenna were growing closer together ,

"And," Balto thought, "things couldn't be better."

He was on his way to her home now. Little Rosy had made a full recovery, and Balto could hear her playing and laughing as he approached.

He walked through the gate, and she hopped over to him and hugged him.

He appreciated the girl's thanks, and let her hold on to him, even though she was squeezing him so tight, it was hard to breathe.

Balto was happy.

"People are actually giving me a chance now," he thought, as the girl released him and went back to playing in the snow-covered yard.

Rosy's dad walked out of the house then, and walked over and patted Balto on the head, something no one would have ever even thought about doing a week ago.

"Hey boy," Rosy's dad said, "you here for Jenna? I'll bet you are, huh? Well you two behave yourselves, I don't need a load of pups running around here."

Balto shrunk back, a little embarrassed by the comment.

Rosy's dad just laughed and walked out the gate.

Balto smiled and looked at Rosy, playing in the yard.

"I'm glad she's okay," he thought.

"I wonder, what will...."

His thoughts screeched to a halt when he saw Jenna walk out the front door.

He still couldn't believe that she liked him. It was too good, too perfect. Nothing had ever really worked out for Balto before, and he was a little leary of getting close to anyone.

"but Jenna....." Balto thought.

Jenna bounded down the steps and ran over to him.

"Hey Balto!" she said.

"Hi Jenna," Balto responded.

"I'm almost ready Balto," she said, "I've just got to go see Rosy before I go."

"Go ahead," said Balto.

Jenna ran over to Rosy and the young girl grabbed her by the ears and tried to drag her around, like she had when Jenna had been a little pup, but now Jenna was a lot bigger, and the small girl had a little trouble.

Balto smiled as he watched Jenna put up with this tugging on her ears for a bit, then she jumped on top of Rosy, knocking her to the snow, and licking her.

Rosy laughed.

Then Jenna got up off of her, and the little girl went back to running around the yard.

Jenna walked back over to Balto, shaking her head.

Balto laughed again.

"Yeah," Jenna said, "go ahead, laugh your heart out; we'll see how funny it is when she does it to you."

Balto just kept laughing.

"Jen, your hair is sticking up all over the place," he said.

"Great," Jenna said.

She rubbed her head in the snow, trying to smooth it out.

When she looked back up at him, Balto couldn't help but laugh again.

"What now?" Jenna asked.

"Jen," Balto said, "now.... now your hair is all wet, and sticking up."

"Oh I give up,": Jenna said, "I guess it doesn't matter.

"Oh yes it does," Balto said, jokingly, "I can't be seen with you looking like that."

"Oh so now you can't be seen with me?" Jenna said. "Who do you think you are, some kind of hero or something?"

She smiled.

"Come here Jen," Balto said.

She walked

I've just finished reading "A broken trust". Well, I can say it wasn't as good as the previous, but it was good, interesting and had an unexpected ending.
