The Last Survivors Part 2

Xenophos woke up looking around, he felt his head pounding. He puts a paw to his head and pulls it away seeing blood. He looks around at his surroundings alittle more clearly and sees he is in a cage. Next to his cage Presa lays unconscious, her breathing coming in sharp gasps. He puts his paw through the bars of the cage and wipes the blood from her head. She opens one blearily eye saying “where are we” he shrugs saying “I dunno” he tries to rack his brain for what happened, all he remembers is him waking up in the night then nothing but white spots engulf his vision.

He looks from her to the row of white tents in front of the cage. Stacked in front of the tents are guns and next to them are his and Presa’s swords. He looks back at Presa her eyes are closed and her body is still. He says “Presa” he puts his paw to her neck and feels the strong beat of her heart, he relaxes and says “sleeping” he to closes his eyes and drifts asleep. He hears the rustling of metal as the humans come out of their tents and grab their weapons. The humans walk over to the cages and hit the bars with their weapons, Xenophos looks up at them and growls. One of the humans says “what are you growling at” he points his weapon at Xenophos and fires a round into his shoulder. Xenophos winces at the pain but still looks at the humans. Presa hearing the shot wakes up and slams her body against the bars trying to kill the human who shot Xenophos. She bares her fangs one of the humans club her over the head she falls to the bottom of the cage out cold.

Xenophos looks at the humans he tries swiping the humans leg but fails to do so. One of the humans says “maybe we could call off the female then finish the male off later” Xenophos looks at this human as he raises his weapon at Presa. Xenophos’s anger boils over he grabs the bars of the cage and pulls them open with brute force. The humans start to yell, Xenophos sinks his teeth into the neck of the nearest human. He then rushes and grabs his and Presa’s swords. He draws his sword, and unsheathes it killing everything in sight as he fights his way towards Presa’s cage. Presa awakes and looks as Xenophos fights, she whines saying “let me out” Xenophos hears this and runs to her cage prying it open to let her out.

She crawls out and stands taking a hold of her sword. She stands back to back with Xenophos saying “were in a tight spot here there are to many of them” he nods saying “well we will have to kill them all” Xenophos charges into the humans so does Presa. Xenophos slashes and stabs the humans before they can fire their guns. He looks at Presa her blood drenched sword against the sky, her fangs bared.

All of a sudden a shot rings out, he watches in horror as Presa kneels on the ground holding her chest. He rushes to her side, as he does this a bullet passes through his back and through his right lung.

He cradles her dying body in his arms, she looks up at him saying “I guess we were meant to be extinct” he shakes his head no saying “no we were meant to survive” tears roll down her cheeks. Her eyes glaze over, her body relaxes as she departs this world.

Xenophos throws his head back and roars in sadness, two more bullets slam into his body. He winces at the pain, as he tries to stand more shots hit him. He throws his sword at a human it strikes the man in the gut and he falls dead to the ground. Xenophos slumps to the ground and lays next to Presa’s body. His last thoughts are “well at least I will be in good company” his heart dies and he joins Presa on the other side.
