Chapter 25

Aleu was half way to town in about a minute. She tried to hurry as best she could, and she was doing a darn good job. The pace that Aleu was running, she had never run before. This is the fastest that she had ever run. There must have been quite a big difference if some one’s life was at stake. She was doing a full on sprint. But Aleu had no time to be proud of herself, she needed to get to Steven’s house and quick.

When Aleu was about to pass her father’s boat, she saw Boris n the air, gliding in her direction. Then he turned around and faced her way, trying to keep up with her.

Boris: Aleu! What’s the hurry?!

Aleu started panting heavily as she spoke.

Aleu: Farris is hurt! He’s unconscious!

Boris: Oh, no. What happened?!

Aleu: No time to explain! I need to get to Steven! We’ll need his help!

Boris: We? Who’s we?

Aleu: Tell my father and the clan that I’m coming! By the time you reach them I would’ve gotten Steven and we’d be on our way back!

Boris came to a halt while Aleu rushed on. She was getting farther away so he yelled to her.

Boris: Aleu, wait! How do I find them?!

Aleu: Just fly high and you’ll see them! You’ll be fine!

Boris slowly flapped down to the ground. He stood still for a few seconds then looked up to the sky.

Boris: Fly high?

Although Boris knew he had to hurry, he tried to get used to the fact that he had to “fly high”. He had the “fly” thing down, but not “fly high”. He had never gone above the trees before.

Boris closed his eyes and put his wing on his fore head.

Boris: Oh, no.

Chapter 26

Aleu took the alley was as she said she would do to get to Steven’s house. The sharp corner slowed her a bit, but it was nothing to worry about.

Her father was right about the town. People were up and moving in the streets. Luckily for Aleu, she was the only one in the alleys.

Aleu started to get closer and closer to Steven’s house as she rushed between the houses. At the last corner, the outside door to Steven’s room was all the way at the end of the alley. She started to sprint as fast as she could, making the bits of left over snow fly and the cloths lines move like they were being blown by the wind. She was at the door in a matter of seconds. She jumped on the door and started to lightly scratch it. When she heard no foot steps, she began to whine. Steven hated to hear Aleu whine, so she was confident that it would work. And it did. Steven was outside in a flash. He was just putting his coat on as he came out.

Steven: What is it, girl? What’s wrong?

This was a time where Steven’s connection with Aleu really came in handy. She looked at him strait in the eyes with fear in them. She was moving her paws up and down, urgent to get going.

Steven stood there looking at Aleu, trying to make out what she was trying to tell him. He had the feeling that something really bad had happened. It was almost like he could feel the same thing that Aleu was feeling. Something had definitely happened. Oh, no. Steven thought.

Steven: Hold on one second.

Steven rushed back inside, closing the door three quarters of the way. What is he doing?! Aleu thought. She poked her head through the crack of the door, to see Steven rushing to put his boots on. This was good, she thought. At least she’s hurrying.

After Steven’s boots were on, he quickly put on his scarf and buttoned his coat.

Steven: Alright, girl. Let’s go.

Aleu was more than ready to go. She turned ad rushed in the direction from which she came from. She was running as fast as she could, but then stopped, hearing Steven’s voice.

Steven: Wait! Aleu!

Oh, no. Aleu thought. Steven’s not a wolf, or even a dog for that matter. He can’t run as fast as she could. This was going to take up time! He was just going to have to sprint.

Chapter 27

Boris, surprisingly, was already in the air. He was trying his best to maintain altitude. He had no trouble doing this when he was ten or even twenty feet from the ground, ever since Stella helped him with his flying problems. But he was about thirty or forty feet from the ground, which was a very big difference to him. At times he couldn’t help but close his eyes. He knew that some times it helps not to look down… but in order to find Balto and the clan, he would have to look down, and that wasn’t working out too well for him.

Boris: Get it together, Boris. You can do this.

Although Boris knew he had to look down to find Balto and the clan, he really tried not to, at least until he got near the forest. It wasn’t really best waiting until he got to the forest to look down, and he figured that out very soon. For a second he thought, Ok, the only way to get the hang out of something is to keep doing it. So for once, he purposely looked down. He was above the forest, which made him very proud of himself. He started looking around for Balto and the clan.

Boris: Balto! Where are you?!

While he was yelling, he put his feathers around his beak, but then he remembered he had to flap.

Boris: Uh, oh… Ahhh!

For a few seconds, he fell strait down. After a few seconds of falling and screaming, Boris finally caught himself with his wings. Boris was extremely relieved.

Boris: Whew! That was close.

As time grew, so did Boris’s confidence. He continued to search for Balto and the clan. After he turned a sharp left from going strait, to his luck, he found them. They were all gathered around a wolf lying on the ground. That must be Farris. He thought. For a short moment, he celebrated his victory.

Boris: Yes! I did it! I am the goose! Ha, ha!

Boris started to fly own to the ground. He was going in circles as he headed own, gliding at a fast pace.

Boris: Balto!

Balto looked up instantly. To his surprise, he saw Boris, flying higher than twenty feet above the ground. At first he doubted it was him because of the fact that he was flying so high. He knew Boris way too well to know he wouldn’t fly higher than twenty feet. Then he heard him yell his name again.

Boris: Balto!

Oh, my God. Balto thought. It is Boris! It’s a miracle! Balto was amazed that Boris was “flying high”. He saw Boris getting closer and closer, and he was yelling.

Balto: Oh, no.

Boris really looked like he was going to crash, which only meant one thing… he wasgoing to crash. Not to Balto’s surprise, Boris started to scream. That was only expected from Boris. He was going pretty fast going down. Balto could have sworn he heard the whistling of a nuclear bomb as Boris came crashing down. He was heading strait for a bush.

Boris: Ahhh!

Just as Balto expected, Boris crashed right into a bush. Balto then rushed over to where he crashed. When he got there, Boris popped his head strait out of the top of the bush, holding his head with his pupils spinning.

Balto: Boris! Are you alright?

Boris: Ugh. You have no clue what I had to go through to get here! I almost had a heart attack.

Balto: Yeah, I saw. That was amazing! What got you to fly like that?

Boris got up and walked over to Balto looking mad. He got right in his face an put his index feather on his chest.

Boris: The fact that if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to find YOU!

Balto: What are you blaming me for?

Boris: Because you… I… uh… I don’t know.

Balto: Well, what are you doing here? Is Aleu coming back soon? Where is she?

Boris: Calm down, Balto. Aleu told me to get you and tell you that she is coming.

Balto: So, she’s alright?

Boris: Of course, she is.

Balto: Oh, thank Heaven.

Boris: I thought you
