The hunter immeaditly saw that he was spotted by the wolves, so he aimed his gun at Silver and fired.

"Silver, lookout!" Kiska yelled then Koyu jumped and pushes her out of the way. Luckily he wasn't hit either, the bullet just missed his fur by two inches.

Suddeny, more shots rang out. There was a whole group of hunters! Kiska, followed by Silver and Koyu ran, dodging bullets unitl they were at a dead end. There was a huge pile of rocks, and no other way to escape.

"Looks like we're going to get a nice wolfskin, right guys?" said one of the hunters to the rest of the group.

"Kiska, Silver, you got to get out of here. I'll distract them. "said Koyu.

"But Koyu, if you do that then you'll be killed." said Kiska.

"I know, but I have to do this, even though I'm really not sure." said Koyu. "But, you two have to go, NOW!"

The hunters took aim at Kiska and Silver as they began to run away.

"NO!!!" shouted Koyu, and he jumped at the hunter, pinning him to the ground.

Kiska and Silver slowed down to a sharp stop. They saw what Koyu had done and they knew that the only way to go on was to get all of them to safety. Koyu was knocked inot the air and he landed on all four feet and jumped back at the hunters.

"Koyu this is crazy, run!" yelled Silver and thne she sprang at the hunters and distracted them from Koyu.

But the hunters saw her spring and aimed at her. She stopped in midair and jumped at the closest hunter who had dropped his rifle. Koyu couldn't let this happen. They ALL had to get out of here.

"Guys I know this is a bad time, but we can all escape." said Kiska.

"Koyu, Kiska, go." said Silver sadly.

"No, I said I'd go, so I will." answered Koyu.

"NO! I have to do this, it's the only way." said Silver.

"Are you sure?" said Kiska.

Silver nodded her head. "Bye guys." she said normaly as if they would be together again the next day, then started to wak towards the hunters, growling fiercly.

"Silver, no. This isn't right...you can't go." said Kiska, stopping her.

"I can do this, and I will, besides it's the only way for you and Koyu to make it out alive." Silver replied.

"No. We all have to, friends stick together, they don't let one sacrifice themself so the others will live. Follow me, I just realized how to save us." Kiska said, then she ran off towards the hunters.

"You are used to her running off now, right?" Silver said jokingly to Koyu.

"Huh. Let's just catch up to her fast." he said then ran of after Kiska.

The hunters took aim at the three wolves who dared to face them. They did not fire, they decided to wait for the perfect moment to get a clear, and killing shot.

"So this is your brilliant plan?" Koyu muttered.

"Yes. On the count of three, run off in three different directions as fast as you can, then we'll meet at the waterfall." said Kiska.

"One.....*hunters follow their movements with their guns*........two........*hunters aim the gun for a good shot*.......three!

Kiska, Silver, and Koyu bolted. The hunters were shocked but started firing out rapidly at the fleeting wolves.

"Just a little farther." Kiska said to herself as she could see the waterfall coming into sight. Her heart was pounding in her chest. She could hear gunshots in the distance and her adrenaline was making her increase in speed. As gunshots rang out, she suddenly heard a yelp. She skidded to a stop and she felt her heart skip a beat. She'd know that yelp from when she was a pup so she reconized it very clearly. Silver!

Kiska turned to follow the yelp. . And she knew it was  definatly Silver. She  knew she was chasing death, but it didn't matter. She ran towards the sound and hit something whle he was running. It was Koyu!

"Koyu! Did you---" began Kiska, but Koyu cut her off.

"I heard Silver. But we can't talk, we must find her."Koyu replied and he turned and ran, Kiska following behind.

They finally raced to the scene. The hunters were gone, and Silver was nowhere to be found. Suddenly Kiska noticed drips of blood. She followed them and saw Silver collasped and at the waterfalls edge.

"Silver!" Kiska screamed. But Silver didn't get up or respond. Kiska couldn't believe her eyes or what her mind was telling her. Silver was gone.

"Kiska, I feel just as shocked and upset as you do, but we have to go before the hunters get back." said Koyu gravely.

"NO! We can't just leave her here! Koyu what am I going to do." Kiska said.

"....Kisk...a.." said a very weak voice."

"Silver? Oh my god! You're alive!" said Kiska.

"....No....I have to.....die for what I did." Silver replied quietly.

"What did you do?" asked Koyu.

"....Well, when you guys were.....running away...I...saw...I saw..a hunter get a clear shot at kIska, he would have hit you, but I jumped in front of him so you would live....I told you guys that I could save you...." Silver said in a faint whisper.

"No, Silver, you don't have to die for me! Please, stay with us!" Kiska begged, tears welled up in her eyes.

"No....I have to go....it is my destiny to die to save you, Kiska....and you Koyu.....and now.....my time has come......farewell." and with that, Silver shut her eyes. And never opened them again.

"Why? Why am I so stupid? I knew she would do something like that! She died trying to save me! Why? Why, why, why, why, why!?!?" Kiska sobbed.

"Kiska, you must know that I too am terribly sad, but we have to move on. She became a hero in her final hours, and fulfilled her destiny, we got to be happy for her." said Koyu quietly.

"But Koyu, I could have saved her! If I saw the hunters aiming at me, I would have told her to run and she'd be alive now! It's all my fault." said Kiska.

"No. It is not your fault. It is a way of life." said Koyu.

"What are you? All knowing wise wolf or something?! Koyu, our best friend just died. We have to honor her." Then Kiska left and stood on top of a hill and howled into the sunset.

Koyu watched herfom below. A tear rolled down his face, and he quietly slipped away into the increasing darkness.

"Koyu, I'm sorry I yelled at you." Kiska said into the darkness of the cave were she and Koyuhad been moments before.

"Koyu?"

"Koyu if you pop out and scare me you're going to die today too." Kiska said.

Suddenly she caught Koyu's scent. she followed it, and as she walked, it lead her to the hunters camp.

"What is he doing here?!" He'll be killed."Kiska said as she saw the group of hunters setting up their camp.

"Too bad those wolves got away, especially the silver one that we shot. We could have made a lot of money off her." one of the hunters said.

"Yeah. But I bet theres plenty more wolves to kill." said another.

Suddenly Kiska saw something hiding in the bushes. And that something was Koyu. He jumped out, fiercly snarling and landed on the hunter, with his rifle clenched between his teeth. The other hunter took aim at him, but Kiska ran out and knocked him to the ground. Then she ran, with the hunters and Koyu in hot pursit behind.

"Oh snap." Kiska said when she realized she was at the edge of a cliff.

The lead hunter took aim at her.

"Now where to run." he said, laughing almost evil like.

"No time to live!" shouted Koyu and he jumped at the hunter and landed on his back. The weight was too much. The hunter moved around and was steered by Koyu's movements to the edge of the cliff, and jumping off and throwing all his weight at the hunter, he along with the hunter fell off the edge of the cliff.

"NO!!!!!!" Kiska screamed. She had lost two friends in one day. It was a horrible tradegedy to life through.

She looked behind her. All the other hunters had ran away and now she was alone.

"I lived as a loner for a long time until I came upon you and  your pack." Kiska said to Aleu.

"Kiska, I am so sorry." Aleu said quietly.

"Me too. I had no idea what kind of life you had before we met you." said Sitka.

They talked some more. Aleu told Kiska about Balo and Jenna. Finally, the Aleu, Kiska, and the rest of the clan fell asleep, their minds drifting into the stars bove theirs heads.
